Bud Light Announces Partnership with Record-Breaking Country Artist, Zach Bryan

Grammy-nominated country artist Zach Bryan will kick off the brand’s 2024 Bud Light Backyard Tour, headlining at Bud Light’s Super Bowl LVIII concert  

NEW YORK, NY – NOV. 9, 2023 – Bud Light announces today its partnership with country singer/songwriter, Zach Bryan, as the brand continues its expansion into country music. To launch the partnership, Zach Bryan will headline the brand’s concert event taking place Super Bowl LVIII weekend. Bud Light, the Official Beer Sponsor of the NFL, will kick off the second year of the Bud Light Backyard Tour with ‘The Bud Light Backyard Tour Presents Zach Bryan.’ Additional partnership initiatives will include promotional giveaways and an integration with Folds of Honor, a nonprofit organization that provides educational scholarships to the families of fallen and disabled service members and first responders.

‘The Bud Light Backyard Tour Presents Zach Bryan’ will kick off the Super Bowl LVIII celebrations on February 9, 2024 at The Chelsea at The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas, making it even easier for fans to enjoy Super Bowl weekend as singer/songwriter Zach Bryan delivers his signature classic folk melody and outlaw country sound to 21+ football fans in an intimate space. ‘Intimate, Backyard Vibes’: Bud Light Announces Free Summer US Concert Series By Artists Including OneRepublic

On Thursday, Bud Light announced the Bud Light Backyard Tour, a national U.S. music tour of free concerts for fans 21 and older featuring shows by OneRepublic, Dashboard Confessional, Midland, Bush, Tyler Braden and Seaforth.

“This summer, Bud Light is building upon its ‘Easy to Drink, Easy to Enjoy’ platform by showing just how easy it is to enjoy the summer season,” Todd Allen, vice president of marketing for Bud Light, said in a news release . “We know summer concert experiences can sometimes be hard to enjoy between scoring coveted tickets and navigating large venues, which is why we are proud to introduce the Bud Light Backyard Tour, a summer tour that is easy to enjoy by bringing top artists and the best parts of the live music experience directly to local venues featuring intimate, backyard vibes across the country.”

Opening acts on the tour will include Dee Jay Silver, Tyler Braden and Lindsay Ell.

“Summer, country music, beer and good times. Why wouldn’t we be there?” country band Midland said.

Midland Are Dreaming Up a One-of-a-Kind Show for Their Bud Light Backyard Party

In 2020 and 2021, when the world was in the throes of COVID-19 pandemic lockdowns, artists used to fantasize about what they'd do when doors and stages opened back up again: Play more shows, collaborate with more artists, take more chances, get closer to their fans than they ever had before.

Lots of artists dreamed about it, but Midland  are  doing it. After releasing Greetings From: The Last Resort —  their euphoric, jam session-flavored, post-lockdown reunion record  — in 2022, the trio is touring harder and more creatively than ever before.

They've kept their road dog bona fides with their own rigorous touring schedule, plus played some dates on Eric Church 's Outsiders Revival Tour and even shared a stage with Chris Isaak. They're also prioritizing different kinds of fan experiences: Later this month, they'll swap their usual arena and amphitheater crowds for an intimate, house show-style venue, partnering with the Bud Light Backyard Tour for a special stop in Oklahoma City, Okla.

"Picture you're going over to your buddy's house, right, to a barbecue, and you walk in and there's the best food you can imagine. Enough cold beer to sink a ship. And then all of a sudden your favorite band in the world comes out and starts playing a backyard party," the group tells Taste of Country in a conversation about their upcoming brand partnership. "That's what it's gonna be like."

The band isn't fazed by the the controversy that's surrounded Bud Light and its parent company, Anheuser-Busch, in recent months, stemming from Bud Light's one-off partnership with transgender influencer Dylan Mulvaney. Some stars, like Travis Tritt and Kid Rock , were among those calling for a brand boycott; meanwhile, Garth Brooks has affirmed that Bud Light will remain on the menu in his Nashville bar. (It's worth noting that though Rock condemned Bud Light's decision to work with a trans partner on his personal social media, his own downtown Nashville bar still has multiple varieties of the beer on the menu.)

"Bud Light is an amazing partnership, and it's a great beer that we enjoy," Midland state, shrugging off a question about whether the controversy impacted their decision to partner with the brand. "So that's not really a part of our conversation."

More important to the group is the kind of show they'll be able to put on in the intimate, fan-focused setting of the Bud Light Backyard Tour stop. Smaller shows with diehard fans afford the trio the chance to deviate a little from their usual set list. In addition to playing hits like "Drinkin' Problem" and "Mr. Lonely," they can reach for some deep cuts, some reworked early material and some songs they haven't played in a while.

"We don't generally do requests, but this could be potentially be one of those situations that we would," the group's Mark Wystrach suggests. "And probably play some deep cuts from, like, the Sonic Ranch album, some songs that ... we haven't played in a while. It'll be a good opportunity to get into that."

It's also a strong possibility that they'll be playing some new music. Midland's hefty touring schedule has made it difficult to find time to get in the studio and record their next album, but the music's well on its way, and they can't wait to show fans what's in store.

"I think as songwriters, we're always just curious about going into new corners, trying to book new sessions and find new material to write about," they explain, pegging December as the month they plan to go in and cut their next project.

"But in general, we think it's the strongest stuff we've ever written. There's a song we wrote not long ago when we were all in Nashville, and we all looked at each other when we were in the middle of writing, like, 'Wow, this is maybe the best song we've ever written,'" they continue. "We're feeling really strong. Mentally, physically, spiritually. All of that."

Midland's Bud Light Backyard Tour show will take place in Oklahoma City, Okla. on Aug. 15. Other performers partnering with the brand for 2023 summer shows include OneRepublic, Dashboard Confessional and Bush. Fans who are 21+ can enter to win tickets to the event at BudLightBackyard.com .

Zach Bryan will take part in the pre-Super Bowl festivities in February 2024 as the headlining artist of the Bud Light Backyard Tour.

The partnership will open up Friday Feb. 9 at Las Vegas’ The Cosmopolitan, two days before Super Bowl LVIII at the city’s Allegiant Stadium. 

Like previous Bud Light-branded gigs — including Lady Gaga’s “dive bar tour” and a similar Post Malone team-up — the concert will offer a small number of (drinking-age) Bryan fans to see the country superstar at an intimate venue for a low ($20) price.

As part of the partnership, Bryan — a U.S. Navy veteran — and Bud Light will also work with Folds of Honor, a nonprofit organization that provides educational scholarships to the families of fallen and disabled service members and first responders.

Future Bud Light Backyard Tour dates have not yet been announced. The trek is separate from Bryan’s own The Quittin’ Time Tour, which hits arenas nationwide starting in March 2024.

Travis Tritt and Kid Rock were among the musicians who boycotted the “woke” beer soon after, with Tritt banning the beer from his “tour hospitality rider” and Rock firing his MP5 submachine gun at a display of Bud Light 12-packs.

In the wake of that controversy, Bryan actually came to the defense of Mulvaney and Bud Light, stating that he has “family transitioning” and that he has “blood to defend here.”

Zach Bryan Partners with Bud Light, Folds of Honor for Super Bowl Weekend Concert

Zach Bryan will headline February's Bud Light Backyard Tour concert.

Country superstar Zach Bryan's next high-profile gig will land him in Sin City for Super Bowl weekend. Bud Light announced Bryan as the headliner for its Backyard Tour concert on Feb. 9, the Friday before the big game.

Per a press release, "additional partnership initiatives [connected to the event] will include promotional giveaways and an integration with Folds of Honor, a nonprofit organization that provides educational scholarships to the families of fallen and disabled service members and first responders."

Bryan's concert will be held at The Chelsea at The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas. Check the website for more details. Tickets have yet to go on sale. Per the website, the first-come, first-served tickets will not be available to residents of California, Texas, Arkansas, West Virginia, Virginia, Maryland and Alabama.

Tickets to The Bud Light Backyard Tour Presents Zach Bryan will be on sale beginning Thursday (Nov. 16) at 3 p.m. ET, with tickets selling for $20. Future dates on the tour have yet to be announced, and the tour is separate from Bryan’s own Quittin’ Time Tour, which launches in March.

The 2024 Bud Light Backyard Tour builds upon previous events including Bud Light Super Bowl Music Fest, Bud Light Dive Bar Tour and the Bud Light Seltzer Sessions. Earlier this year, artists including Midland and OneRepublic were announced as part of the Bud Light Backyard Tour summer concert series. The slate of country and country-adjacent shows follow the recent controversy and backlash that ensued against Bud Light and its parent company Anheuser-Busch, after the company teamed with transgender social media influencer Dylan Mulvaney, who posted a video on social media featuring a customized can of Bud Light that Mulvaney received from the company.

Artists including Kid Rock and Travis Tritt spoke out against the brand, while Bryan offered his thoughts on the controversy and spoke out against Tritt, saying via X (formerly Twitter), “I just think insulting transgender people is completely wrong because we live in a country where can all just be who we want to be,” and later adding in comments that he has “family transitioning” and “blood to defend here.”

Shane Gillis drops hilarious new sketch with Bud Light

The dog ate my homework. Sorry, my phone battery died. Don’t be silly, of course I wanted to attend your cousin's dog's birthday party.

We're all guilty of telling the odd fib from time to time. But what if telling the truth came with added perks? Like, say, a nice cold beer?

Well that’s the premise of the first in a new round of hilarious Bud Light adverts featuring actor and comedian Shane Gillis.

Airing at the end of August to mark the start of the college football season, the sketches see Gillis popping up in various settings and situations around a college campus. Gillis–who co-wrote the content with comedy partner and director John McKeever–is fresh off his acclaimed Netflix special, Beautiful Dogs and in production on Season 2 of his beloved scripted series, Tires . He is also known as co-host of the number one Patreon podcast in the world: Matt and Shane’s Secret Podcast , with Matt McCusker.

First up is ‘The Dean’s Office,’ where a nervy looking student has been summoned in front of three staff members, accused of plagiarizing his masters thesis.

However, the stern-looking Dean presents the master's student with an enticing proposition: come clean and he’ll be given a bucket of ice-cold Bud Lights.

The offer prompts Gillis, playing a sports coach, to crack open a bottle and immediately reveal that his colleague, Professor Wilkins (played by longtime Gillis collaborator, and Tires star, Steve Gerben), has been taking karate lessons after being placed in a headlock by a saxophone-playing student.

The revelation leaves Wilkins, dressed in a knitted vest and chinos and looking like ChatGPT’s answer to ‘stuffy academic’, completely bemused.

Devastated that his secret has been exposed, he finds that it’s not so terrible after all when he’s rewarded with a beer.

The confession triggers a series of subsequent admissions, including that of another member of the faculty who just happens to be walking past the office.

He admits to using an accent when ordering takeaway pizza, to the point that his now-girlfriend of four months, who works at the restaurant, firmly believes he is British.

Gillis hands him a Bud Light and cue both cheering and bottle clinking as the Dean, and indeed the accused student, look on in total bewilderment.

The pressure builds as the choice becomes clear: confess and you get a Bud Light.

If only. Where was that option when I was in the University library at 4am, sinking my 12th espresso and trying to figure out what the hell a Harvard referencing style is?
