Japan is such a comfortable, safe and accessible destination for solo travellers that it’s almost a cliché. Yes, the locals are unfailingly friendly. Indeed, everything works so dependably that getting about is delightfully stress-free. Aye, eating and drinking on your own here is marvellously normal. But it’s all so true. I spent three months travelling solo around the country last year, from Sapporo in the chilly north to Kagoshima in the semi-tropical south, and at no point – no matter how far I strayed from the tourist trail – did I feel like any of the country was beyond my reach. A few words of Japanese go a long way, of course (especially in rural areas), but there’s no better way to do Japan than on your own.

2.  Ireland

When it comes to feeling welcome, you’d be hard pressed to come by a nation who are more hospitable than the Irish. I might be a bit biased – my family all hail from the Emerald Isle – but I can guarantee that whether you’re in the hectic centre of Dublin or the easy-going shores of Galway, something about the people here will make you feel right at home. In fact, I’ve found that the plush countryside and dramatic hills paired with the wood-covered, pint-filled walls of pubs where a local is usually spinning a tale strikes the perfect balance between tranquillity and community – it’s primed for solo travel.

3.  East Coast Australia

It goes without saying that Australia is absolutely massive. Mahoosive. Ginormous. And while that fact might make it seem daunting, particularly for those of us travelling solo, most of the action is concentrated on the East Coast. According to both Journey Woman and Overseas Adventure Travel, demand has never been higher for women in their 50s, with  safari trips  to destinations such as  Kenya , Tanzania and Botswana leading the trend, indicating that a bucket-list approach to travel in later life is on the rise once again. Botswana brims with breathtaking sights and sounds, as well as being a ‘big five’ destination: herds of elephants gather at waterholes; the great zebra migration takes place cross-country; lions, hippos and giraffes all call the Okavango Delta home. With blue waxbills and woodland kingfishers, it’s a birdwatcher's paradise, too. Depending on whether you’d rather see baby antelopes or take a mokoro canoe trip (for example), be sure to book the right time of year so you don’t miss out. For younguns, EcoTraining runs a variety of courses in Mashatu Game Reserve where you can learn to track animals, navigate the bush, identify species and more – from week-long workshops to year-long qualifications.

Western Australia

Best for: slow travel on your terms

Whether you’re breaking in a new driver’s license or breaking away from the nine-to-five,  Australia’s  appeal is ageless and enduring (and there’s no language barrier for those that speak English). Movements embracing travel by road and rail show no signs of slowing down, and this country’s vast open road and impressive landscape are ideal for both. The Dolomites, Italy

A 10-day hut-to-hut stomp through  Italy’s  stunning limestone landscape provides solitude scenery and a sense of achievement in spades – perfect for restless adventurers and those that want a physical challenge that reaps major rewards. It’s hard to imagine a coastline more abundantly blessed than Costa Rica ’s, and nature’s generosity is warmly extended to travellers. Culture comes easy in Stockholm, so start at the Moderna Museet on the central island of Skeppsholmen, or take things shamelessly pop at the ABBA Museum Hall of Fame . Berns Hotel is the chandelier-draped grand dame with a legendary bar and restaurant, at the geographical and figurative heart of Stockholm, but the stylish young upstart is Miss Clara . Austin, Texas

Texans are famously, some would say notoriously, friendly, and Austin is a city where you’ll never be short of a smile, whether it’s across a shared plate of streetfood, across a grimy dancefloor, or across the water of one of the steamy city’s cherished swimming holes. Dining out is a thoroughly relaxed affair in Austin, as much of the best eating in town is dished out of food trucks – where solo travellers join other diners at bar-style seating and never really eat alone. There are over 1,000 food trucks rolling around town, but Gourdough’s doughnuts are cult dishes in Austin, served out of a vintage Airstream; go big and go for grilled banana and bacon.

In terms of transportation logistics, accessibility and accommodation offerings, planning a trip to Zion National Park is relatively straightforward. The gateway for exploration is charming Springdale, a small town just steps from the park's main entrance that has maintained its quirky vibe despite its soaring popularity.

Portland, Oregon

Best for: Exploring the unique landscape of the Pacific Northwest

Portland is surrounded by natural beauty on all sides. Though the city lies in a valley, you can often see Mount Hood, Mount St. Helens and the towering green firs and pines surrounding it. To best enjoy these natural wonders, visit Powell Butte for panoramic mountain views or the outlook behind Pittock Mansion for city views with Mount Hood in the background.

You'd be remiss to skip all things weird and wonderful within Portland's city limits. Voracious readers could spend hours in Powell's City of Books, the country's largest independent bookstore. There's also the outdoor Portland Saturday Market , which is considered the largest continually operating arts and crafts market in the country. Best for: A mix of beach days and California history

It's the first time that two neighboring cities in two different countries have shared the distinction. Both cities will celebrate the designation through unique experiences, events and festivals.

Many of San Diego's best-known attractions are in Balboa Park, including the San Diego Zoo, the San Diego Natural History Museum, the San Diego Air & Space Museum, and many splendid gardens and recreational areas.

About 2 miles west of Balboa Park on San Diego Bay is the USS Midway Museum , where you can learn about historic naval aircraft and helicopters on board the USS Midway aircraft carrier. Old Town San Diego — the first European settlement in California — and the Gaslamp Quarter are also worth peeling yourself away from the beach for.

OK, so you’re flying solo and ready to mingle – maybe a gay holiday for singles is exactly what you need? Far away from the tedium of work, the responsibilities of daily life, and more than likely all those familiar faces on Grindr back home (or even worse …your ex!)

But where exactly should you head?

That’s where we come in: we’ve got a list of 25 great destinations if you’re going on a gay holiday on your own – though we also recommend some gay travel groups here if you don’t want to be by yourself all the time. There’s something for everyone here, whether you want to dance on a beach or sample exotic cuisine looking over a cityscape. And, of course, all of our gay holidays for singles ideas offer fabulous, queer, glitterati fun, and inclusive vibes.

A fast-paced, lively city, Bangkok is a perfect gay destination if you fancy something a bit different and have tonnes of energy!

In Thailand, gay, lesbian , and trans lifestyles are generally accepted, and Bangkok is the hub of that. It’s popular with queer travelers for good reason: great shopping, affordability, delicious food, nightlife you’ll definitely want to write home about (although perhaps you shouldn’t!).

Go if: You want a gay holiday for singles that are all about adventure, wild nightlife, and doing as many different things as possible – not just sightseeing.

Sitges is a lovely resort town on Spain’s Costa Brava. Some visitors may ask, “where is the gay part of Sitges?” The answer: Sitges. In fact, in the peak travel season – that is, the summer months – there are more gay visitors to Sitges than there are straight ones. 

So, to say that Sitges is gay friendly is quite an understatement, as the many gay bars and clubs in town demonstrate. 

The main (but by no means only) draw for gay tourists in Sitges is the collection of gay beaches. Perhaps best known among them is the exclusively gay Playa del Muerto. Don’t let the name fool you, though: this beach is one lively place, not to mention one of the best places in town to meet guys. 

Bassa Rodona is another beach in Sitges that is popular with the gay crowd. So popular, in fact, that it can get rather packed during the peak tourist season. The more, the merrier, they say, and with all those buff boys there to soak up the sun right along with you, there will be plenty of eye candy to keep you occupied. And you’ll be glad to know that there are several men-only resorts right there on the beachfront. Sitges is surely one of Europe’s gay travel gems and one of those destinations you really just can’t go wrong with. 

Go if: You want a pumping gay beach right in the center of the village, wild nightlife, and not one but two discreet nudist beaches to wear nothing but flip flops …

One of the world’s most LGBTQ-friendly cities where anyone is always welcome anywhere; there is a lot more to love about Gay Copenhagen than just its queer spirit and admirable history of promoting gay rights.

Copenhagen today is one of the world’s most sought after travel destinations defined by a gastronomical revolution fuelled by New Nordic cuisine, Danish design that embraces simplicity, detail, and minimalist beauty, and of course, there is all the museums and cultural treasure stretch back to the Viking for tourists to marvel over.

Add to this Copenhagen is one of the world’s most liveable cities filled with animated cycleways, world-class public transport, inviting public spaces which function as living rooms, and a full roster of events, and it is easy to see why everyone – gay, straight or unicorn – is flocking to this colorful and cool Scandinavian capital.

Go if: You want to experience an intrinsically progressive country and an edgy yet functional city with one of the world’s best pride festivals and more queer spirit than we can handle. 

Home to over 100 gay-owned establishments, not to mention a wealth of both gay and gay-friendly beaches and that sweet Florida sunshine, it’s no wonder why Ft. Lauderdale is considered one of America’s best cities for gay tourists. It is Florida’s uncontested gay capital and so much more than just a spring breaks destination. 

While the city as a whole has a very gay-friendly attitude, with the highest concentration of gay couples of any U.S. city, it is the gayborhood of Wilton Manors where most of the large gay scene in Ft. Lauderdale will be found. You’ll be hard-pressed to find better gay nightlife than here. It’s also a great place for cruising, with several prime cruising spots.

With so much to offer gay tourists, it is easy to see why so many choose to come back to Ft. Lauderdale year after year. Go cruising or lounge at the beach by day, hit the clubs and bars by night. It sounds like the good life, doesn’t it?

Go if: You love to stay in gay resorts and want to explore one of the most expansive and diverse gay scenes in the world.

Israel might be getting more conservative, but Tel Aviv remains a must-go destination among the gay community.

As well as world-famous nightlife, Tel Aviv also offers white sand beaches, Instagram-worthy markets, and delicious eats. Need any more persuading? An estimated 25% of the population is gay. Do we have to say more?

Go if: You want a beach covered in muscled hunks and cosmopolitan dining and nightlife.

For those who didn’t know: Berlin has one heck of a gay side. Though many might not think of Berlin as a haven for LGBTQ+ people, the truth is that Germany’s capital is one of the most gay-friendly major cities in Europe. It even has a bear as one of its symbols (though this is due to the fact that the bear features on the city’s coat of arms and is entirely coincidental; however, the bear, in this case, was meant to symbolize tolerance among different social and cultural groups).

But you may be asking: what is there to do in Berlin for gay tourists? The answer is quite a lot. The city is host to several large pride events, the biggest and most notable of which is CSD Berlin held every July since 1979. It is one of the biggest pride events on the entire continent.

London is world renown as one of the greatest gay cities on Earth, and no trip here would ever be complete without visiting the expansive gay villages in the Soho and Vauxhall neighborhoods. As you will see, LGBT bars and clubs can be found all over Gay London, but it is within these two neighborhoods that you can really see gay life flourishing.

Energetic cafes, pubs, bars, clubs, and members-only organizations combine to offer a truly diverse range of nightlife entertainment – expand your horizons, London has everything you always knew you wanted…and surely if a few hidden delights you might never have considered.

Some might say that Amsterdam is a city where hedonism reigns. And that is precisely what’s so great about it. Most famous for its red-light district and coffee houses selling a lot more than just a good brew (namely mushrooms and a certain “herb”), the “City of Sin” is also home to a vibrant gay scene, with a large pride parade called Amsterdam Pride every August. 

Amsterdam is also home to the Homomonument, a poignant tribute in stone to all those of LGBTQ persuasion who have been persecuted because of their sexual orientation. The monument consists of three main centerpieces: The Triangle of the Past, The Triangle of the Present, And the Triangle of the Future. 

The memorial especially is intended to commemorate the LGBTQ folks who were victims of the Nazis. Every year there is a ceremony held on The Netherlands ‘ National Day of Remembrance. In truth, the Homomonument is something that shouldn’t be missed by any gay visitor to Amsterdam. 

And to explore a lighter side of the city, visit the Reguliersdwarsstraat, which is the hub of Amsterdam’s gay scene, with a host of gay bars and clubs that are always ready to party. 

Go if: You have a passion for male festival outfits and want to show off your best at the annual Milkshake festival . Or if you want to experience what living in a world of total acceptance is like.

Hong Kong makes up for its tiny space by cramming in as many people and buildings and as much gay fun as possible. Don’t be put off by the legal status of gays here, society (in general) is happy to let you do your thing, and there are plenty of activities for gay singles.

This is a truly unique city and well worth visiting. Things are always changing, but no matter what’s updated its name or moved location, there will always be incredible restaurants, gorgeous views from the skyscrapers, and dusk-til-dawn dancing.

France is one of the most queer-friendly destinations in the world, and Paris is the pinnacle of this: the widespread acceptance has resulted in a gay bar scene that is hard to rival.

You can be drinking cocktails and discussing philosophy one minute at an underground kink party the next. And that’s just a Wednesday night! During the day, you can make the most of the city’s famous sights, designer shops, exquisite food, and people-watching along the boulevards.

Go if: You like a touch of Parisian sophistication and gorgeous French men on your gay holiday for singles. 

Let’s start by addressing the elephant in the room: yes, Nashville is in Tennessee , a state not exactly known for its liberal approach. Gay acceptance is a complex issue in Nashville, but by and large, it is hugely welcoming, inclusive, and well worth a trip.

If you’re the creative or musical type, this is the ideal destination to discover a flourishing arts scene. Not to mention you’ll have the chance to get down and dirty in the city’s many gay bars and clubs.

Gay Palm Springs

It’s official: Gay Palm Spring is back again baby, and us gays are absolutely living for it! We are literally everywhere here, from the plethora of clothing-optional gay resorts, to fabulous gay nightclubs, chic museums, hiking trails, modern dining venues, and everywhere in between…

Once the glittery desert escape of Hollywood’s star in the 50s and 60s, Palms Springs slowly slid into obscurity and decayed only to be rediscovered in the last few decades by the gays, and now hipsters, hikers, and everyone in between has moved in. With incredible nature, retro-chic vibes,  mid-Century architecture, fabulous resort, and an epic lineup of events annually, it was only a matter of time really, we guess.

With over 40% of the permanent population identifying as LGBT+, it is safe to say that Palm Springs reigns supreme and is the biggest gayest destination on Earth. Home to America’s first all-LGBT city council, Gay Palm Springs is a haven for all those who want to just be themselves with LGBT discrimination is almost unheard of and a host of resorts, clubs, bars, and restaurants all vying for the almighty ‘pink dollar.

Go if: You want to travel only a few hours from Los Angeles and San Diego , but still want to explore a desert haven seemingly a world away from the politics of hate and discrimination.

It might seem like a slightly off-the-wall choice but we know that not everyone wants a gay holiday destination that’s dawn ‘til dawn partying.

You might be single, but maybe you just want to meet like-minded people over a beer in the pub after a day of extreme sports, rather than dance all night in a sweaty nightclub. To each his own! Let us suggest Queenstown, the ‘adventure capital of the world’ nestled in New Zealand’s stunning Southern Alps.

There’s plenty to do for adrenaline junkies all year round, but if you want something special, then how about planning a visit during the annual Winter Pride/Gay Ski Week – that’s in September, for you Northern hemisphere lot. It is one of the biggest gay ski weeks in the world and is worth planning an entire trip around.

Go if: You want a gay holiday that takes in stunning scenery, welcoming locals, and cosmopolitan nightlife – or maybe some skiing!

Sydney is a sophisticated and exciting city that’s the perfect destination for your gay holiday for singles. The people are friendly, open, and easy on the eye; there’s a wide range of hipster coffee shops, edgy galleries, and quayside walks for you to enjoy during the day.

Better know for Samsung and political tensions with North Korea, there is a thriving queer scene here hidden right in plain sight – you just need to know where to look!

Fast-paced and utterly obsessed with fashion and technology, the dynamic city of Seoul is also profoundly traditional, with peaceful palaces, temples, and mountain trails. Skyscrapers overshadow elegant hanbok (traditional wooden homes), green spaces and cycle routes soften industrial hard edges, and K-Pop can be heard blaring on almost every street corner. Seoulites have a lot to be proud of in their 24/7 city – where you can get whatever you want, whenever you want – and their gay scene here is no exception. We just wish the society at large would be more accepting…

The glittering queer capital of the already exceptionally welcoming and LGBT-friendly Canada . Think Ottawa is your average stuffy capital which only looks semi-alive 9-5 on business days? Think again!

Ottawa is dynamic, fresh, approachable, and – dare we say – sexy! With a small yet vibrant and well-organized gay community consisting of everyone from activists to professionals, pioneers to young queer visionaries, there is always something going on here. Pop-up queer takeovers, drag shows, poetry, bear coffee meetups, and more arts & culture than we thought possible – just to name a few!

Go if: You want to an insane roster of A-list events throughout the year, plenty of the best museums in Canada, leafy green spaces, and of course, the chance of bumping into dreamy Justin Trudeau.

Everyone knows Vienna is full of grandeur, glorious castles and palaces, and opera. That’s all well and good, but as a single gay, are you going to have much fun there? Hell yes!

There are hidden (and not-so-hidden) gems everywhere in Vienna: from pop-up markets and galleries to gay dance parties, bookshops, and swimming pools. You might want to try the traditional Sachertorte, but you can also enjoy modern eats and cocktails. Trust us; if you’re going on a solo holiday, this is not a place to miss.

Go if: You’ll enjoy meeting other gay singles among magnificent architecture, sophisticated coffee shops, and old-world culture.

The cultured capital of Finnish Lapland is filled with intriguing museums, gorgeous hotels, quirky bars, and more than a few sauna options. Not to mention all that expansive wilderness right on your doorsteps where the dense Taiga forest is only broken by the odd husky kennels, reindeer farms, and rustic huts perfect for Northern Light viewing.

Of course, in this small town, “gay” means something closer to “merry and bright” than it does “homosexual” – there is no camp nightlife nor a gay village or raunchy saunas. For us, this was actually a large part of the appeal… If you wanted a high-energy gaycation, Amsterdam, Fort Lauderdale, or  Las Vegas  might be better options.

There is a fabulous annual Arctic Pride, and Rovaniemi is the official residence of the world’s most famous bushy-bearded bear, Santa Claus – but for LGBT travelers, the appeal perhaps lies more in the complete acceptance they will find in such a liberal and open-minded destination.

Go if: You want to explore a wild landscape and open-to-all hospitality. This is the country that produced  Tom of Finland  after all – and today, Rovaniemi is for everyone to enjoy, after all, no matter their gender, sexual preference, or race.

Hugging the twinkling blue Bahía de Banderas and backed by verdant palm-covered Sierra Madre mountains, Gay Puerto Vallarta is one of the world’s most famous gay destinations!

A small city with astounding sandy beaches, boutique shopping, world-class dining, and a tantalizing malecón (boardwalk), it’s no wonder the gays have made this their home! Puerto Vallarta first burst upon the international jet-set scene after the filming of the “Night of the Iguana” with Liz Taylor, but it was not until the 90s that an LGBT industry pop’d up after the opening of the “Club Paco Paco.”

There is no shortage of epic gay clubs, laid-back cocktail bars, gay hotels, or sexy hombresin the Zona Romantico, Puerto Vallarta’s Gay District – but today, LGBT travelers will be welcomed almost everywhere in this tolerant and gay-friendly beachside town. In fact, Mexico, in general, is becoming increasingly gay-friendly as long-ingrained cultural mindsets change, as evidenced by the bustling gay scene in cities like  Guadalajara ,  Monterrey ,  Queretaro , and  Puebla.

Go if: You want a gay holiday for singles that is all about affordable luxury, your global queer family, tropical heat, and wild nightlife! And to show off your best gay swimwear…

Where are all the queens in Queensland? In Brisbane. Australia’s third-largest city after Sydney and Melbourne is arguably its gayest. While it may not have the biggest gay community in the world, Brisbane’s gayborhoods of Fortitude Valley and Teneriffe do have some of the friendliest gay hotels and bars/clubs in The Land Down Under for gay tourists. 

Brisbane also has a large gay pride parade that has been running strong for over 30 years. There is also a street festival fundraiser event called Big Gay Day, established in 2000, which raises money for local charities with live music, drag performances, and more. Such notables as Sporty Spice and Boy George have graced the stages of Big Gay Day. It is quite an extravaganza, and well worth visiting Brisbane if you happen to be in Queensland. 

And don’t worry, there are plenty of hotels, bars, cafes, and eateries in Brisbane that cater to the gay crowd as you enjoy the city’s excellent climate and vibrant gay scene. Rescue turtles in the Mexican Caribbean

People travel alone for many reasons, but not everyone wants to focus on the self. Do your part as an eco-friendly traveler in Quintana Roo, Mexico, where you can join the many local efforts to rescue sea turtles. Most notable is the Akumal Turtle Camp, a program that’s been hosted by the Akumal Ecological Center (CEA) since 1993. The camp invites volunteers to learn about the species with in-class education, turtle monitoring protocols, and species identification before continuing with fieldwork: tagging and protecting nesting females, marking nests with GPS coordinates, and minimizing predators from the nesting sites. Iceland is great for long, soul-seeking drives—and if you go by yourself, you won’t have to annoy fellow passengers when you pull over every five minutes to take photos of waterfalls and glaciers. Ever since we saw Cate Blanchett sneak off to Antarctica in Where'd You Go, Bernadette? , we've been wondering how possible a solo trip to the frozen continent really is. Ann Arbor, Michigan

Ann Arbor is an under-the-radar town perfect for museum lovers, thanks to the University of Michigan. Worth a visit are the institution's Museum of Art, Museum of Natural History and Museum of Archaeology. We also suggest strolling through the Matthaei Botanical Gardens and catching a show at the Hill Auditorium. Off campus, visit the Nickels Arcade for shopping and eats.

Oklahoma City, Oklahoma

To put it simply, Oklahoma City is an underrated destination. Between its boisterous Bricktown neighborhood, unique Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum, beautiful Myriad Botanical Gardens and whitewater rafting and kayaking facility, you might be surprised by how much there is to do. For food and accommodations, check out the newly-opened National Hotel, housed in a former bank (psst, there's a cocktail bar in the old vault).

Reno, Nevada

Sure, Las Vegas might get most of the attention in Nevada, but Reno is a more approachable destination for a solo trip. Yes, there are casinos here, but you'll also find impressive art and automobile museums, a lovely rose garden and the Nevada Historical Society. In the winter, skiing is nearby, and in the early fall, Reno hosts the world's largest free hot air balloon event. "The Biggest Little City in the World" certainly lives up to its moniker.

Tampa, Florida

Most travelers are familiar with South Florida's hotspots, but Tampa to the west (also considered one of the safest cities to live in the U.S. ) is rightfully drawing attention. Its most famous attraction is Busch Gardens, but the city has more to offer than roller coasters. Head to the Tampa Riverwalk for waterfront dining, or visit Ybor City for lively nightlife, classic cigar lounges and the original 118-year-old Columbia Restaurant — home to one of the tastiest house salads you'll ever eat and a must-see flamenco show.

Asheville, North Carolina

Boulder, Colorado

Before you hit the ski slopes or hiking trails (depending on the season), check out the Pearl Street Mall in Boulder, filled with quirky shops and tasty eats. You might not expect it, but Boulder is also home to a landmark tea spot called the Boulder Dushanbe Teahouse (a solo afternoon tea sounds divine to us), a contemporary art museum and the Shelby American Collection of classic cars.

Chicago, Illinois

Chicago may be a big city, but it's easy to navigate on foot — or on the "L" train system. There's no shortage of activities, whether you're interested in taking an architectural history boat tour, visiting the Art Institute of Chicago or Field Museum or taking a selfie with the famous "Bean." This should go without saying, but make sure to take yourself on a deep-dish pizza tour, because you deserve it (and you'll have the whole pie to yourself).

Harpers Ferry, West Virginia

If you're interested in hiking part of the Appalachian Trail, hit the region around Harpers Ferry. The visitor center is considered the "psychological midpoint" of the trail, and there are a number of scenic day hikes in the area. The town itself — which boasts small-town charm — is part of the Harpers Ferry National Historical Park and has an antique shop (called The Gilded Flea) and a historic candy shop.

South Bend, Indiana

College towns make for perfect weekend getaways for solo travelers, with lively downtowns and impressive museums — and South Bend is no exception. There's a three-story automotive museum, two art museums, a gorgeous neo-Gothic church, the Morris Performing Arts Center and a scenic riverfront park to fill your itinerary. It also has several chocolate shops, the Indiana Whiskey Company for tastings and restaurants serving cuisine from all around the world.

For many guys, there’s nothing quite like waking up in a hotel room in a foreign land and having no one to answer to! Our pick of the best destinations for solo travel for men is the idyllic island of Ibiza. It is located in the Mediterranean Sea off the east coast of Spain. It’s 150 km from Valencia and the third largest of what are known as the Balearic Islands.

Famous for its 24-hour parties and hosting some of the world’s largest clubs, this Spanish island has become a mecca for those who want to let their hair down and party hard.

The vibe ranges from glamorous to hippy as both backpackers and the jet-set-elite party in the sunshine and well into the night. The Ibiza party season usually runs from the last May weekend until the first October weekend. The biggest and best parties are held during the first and final weeks.

On to the girls – you’ll find a range of women visiting Ibiza, from the classiest and most beautiful women of Europe to the trashiest and dirtiest girls of England. It’s a real melting pot of humanity that is wild and crazy “all” of the time!

So if you’re looking for total hedonism, easy European girls, and beautiful beaches, why not join the crowd of up-for-it party-goers that return to this excellent party destination year after year?

If you’re after somewhere a little more exotic, why not jump on a plane heading to the capital of Thailand (one of the top Asian countries for digital nomads )? Bangkok has been on many single guys’ holidays for decades, and the vibrant and beautiful city continues to get more popular.

Bangkok is a difficult city to describe. It combines the new and the old with a distinct mix of culture, grace, and high energy. It is a thriving metropolis that never seems to sleep and never fails to raise a smile.

So onto the nitty-gritty, Bangkok is a prime place to meet hot women from all over the country. The girls are extremely friendly and seem to be everywhere you turn! In most bars in the city, there will usually be ladies who are only too happy to sit and chat with you. However, take care as many of them will be “working girls” and may want money for the pleasure of their company.

Bangkok is also a central travel hub for some other notable cities in Thailand. From here, you can book trips to anywhere in Thailand. One of my favorite places is the island of Koh Phangan (famous for the Full Moon Parties ). Another option is to explore the mountains and jungles around Chiang Mai.

If you want to get a little sleazy, the city has strip joints, complete-service massage parlors, and Go-Go bars. In fact, not many cities compete with Bangkok for sex tourism, so don’t forget those rubbers!

Apart from the seemingly endless string of pick-up joints, the city also hosts some incredible nightclubs, including Club Insanity on Sukhumvit Soi 11 and the massively popular Route 66 nightclub on Royal City Avenue, which rarely disappoint single male travelers.

Amsterdam – Holland

One of the first things that come to most minds when you mention Holland is the liberal and friendly society, so it’s no shock that so many single guys love it here.

While parts of the city feel risky and a little seedy, Amsterdam is an extremely safe city. Probably the most famous part of the city is the Red Light District. This area is just as much a tourist attraction as the Statue of Liberty in New York or the Eifel Tower in Paris and is much more interesting.

Even if you forego the paid sex services, the city has many excellent bars, clubs, restaurants, and live shows to entertain you. And if all that’s not enough, how about smoking a little weed in one of the many coffee shops?

Coffee shops are a huge draw for many international tourists, with Dutch tourism figures suggesting that 25-30 percent of people who visit Amsterdam indulge in a smoke. Amsterdam has hundreds of coffee shops, each with different vibes and styles. They sell weed, hash, ready-made joints, and often edible marijuana treats.

Finally, Amsterdam’s beer scene is a massive draw for many men. The city features an impressive array of bars/pubs to cater to every drinking preference perfectly.

London is an incredible city for guys who prefer more urban adventures. It’s the largest city in the E.U. (at the time of writing) and the largest predominantly English-speaking city in the world after New York City.

The capital of the U.K. is packed with enough history and culture to keep any guy busy for weeks. And if you have the cash, it has some of the world’s finest designer stores around Oxford Street and Carnaby Street.

London is also one of the most incredible cities in the world right now. It has thriving fashion, music, and theater scenes and some of the best restaurants in the world. And don’t forget the pubs – there are over 3,500 bars in the city, each with its unique charm and atmosphere.

As for the nightlife, London has a wicked selection of clubs. Many of these are open all night to cater to the thousands of ravers always up for a party (no matter what day of the week).

Clubs open and close all the time in London. Some great places to check out are “Xoyo” and “Cargo” in Shoreditch and “Phonox” in Brixton. I have partied worldwide and find London hard to beat in terms of atmosphere and energy. Patrons are very friendly and welcoming, and the girls are certainly not backward in coming forward!

Rio de Janeiro – Brazil

Brazil is truly a single guy’s nirvana for the best vacation destinations for single guys. With stunning beaches, “off the hook” nightlife, and some of the most beautiful women on the planet. Rio has everything a male solo traveler could wish for!

Also known as the Marvelous City, Rio is Brazil’s most famous city. One of its huge attractions is its all-year-round tropical climate.

The city of Rio oozes energy and life, which builds to a crescendo during Carnival . First held in 1723, Carnival saw around 2 million people involved in the five-day party.

One of the biggest draws for Rio is its famous beaches, including Ipanema and Copacabana. Another famous sight is the iconic Sugarloaf Mountain (which you can visit by cable car). But the primary reason single guys flock here is the epic nightlife.

Always welcoming, the Brazilian people have a zest for life, and nowhere is it more apparent than in the bars and clubs of Rio. A great place to check out if you get the chance is Circo Voador. A nightclub that features some of the top Brazilian musicians and sometimes global DJs and musicians. Circo Voador can be found in the district of Lapa.

Lapa continues to be a focal point of most of the after-dark fun, with many bars and restaurants to cater to every taste. However, Lapa can get pretty sleazy late at night with many street walkers (many of whom are actually ladyboys).

Of course, Vegas had to be on this list of the best places for men to travel alone. Las Vegas, a long-time favorite for bachelor parties, is best known for its raucous nightlife, mega-casinos, and exotic-dancing bars.

Las Vegas is home to some of the best hotels in the world, including the Aria, Bellagio, and M.G.M. Grand Hotel. It also has some of the finest eateries, such as Estiatorio Milos, Cut, and Bardot Brasserie.

Of course, it isn’t called “Sin City” for nothing! It’s an easy place to get into trouble, but that’s just part of its charm. People come to Vegas to let loose and party hard. When you land in Nevada’s Mojave Desert, it’s time to “party like a rock star” and stop when the money runs out.

There are day parties, pool parties, concerts, sporting events, shows, and so on, so don’t plan to sleep much. And when the sun goes down, everyone comes out to play. This usually culminates with a visit to one of the incredible nightclubs, such as X.S. at the Wynn Encore or 1OAK at The Mirage.

Goa – India

You probably didn’t expect to see India on our list of holidays for single men, but it’s a real “diamond in the rough!”

Goa is a state on the west coast of India, and it has been a travelers’ favorite for decades. Geographically, Goa’s 50+ beaches cover about 78 miles of its coastline. Beaches start at Polem Beach in the South and finish at Querim Beach in the North.

Pack your suitcase because Goa has a little bit of everything. There are plenty of water sports if you’re active and wild drug-fueled parties if you’re a bit of a night owl. Prices are ridiculously cheap, with beers costing not much more than a dollar or two.

Single guys can quickly meet other travelers in Goa, as most visitors are chilled out! There is an abundance of marijuana and party drugs that go hand-in-hand with the trance music so often played on the sound systems of Goan bars and outdoor parties.

Single guys can’t fail to fall in love with the tropical beaches. Many water sports are available, including jet skis, banana boats, para-gliding, etc. But the main attraction on the shores is the parties, often headlined by famous DJs from India and beyond.

Mykonos – Greece

If you’re looking for a hedonistic party destination in Europe, Mykonos is similar to Ibiza in many ways but much cheaper. It is undoubtedly one of the best trips for single men.

Known as a “playground for adults,” this famous cosmopolitan island in Greece is renowned for drinking, dancing, and getting laid. Mykonos receives more than its fair share of party animals. Some can be seen dancing naked without a care in the world on the naturist beaches of the island.

Dancing usually starts mid-afternoon on the pristine beaches and then moves to the clubs. Things don’t quiet down until the sun comes up. Then it’s a matter of finding a hot girl and heading back to your hotel before repeating the whole process again!

The season runs from June to September, but August is the best time to visit. This is when there are the most visitors to the island. It’s pretty wild this month with a mix of celebrities, students, and bachelor parties.

If you should need a break from the craziness, lots of watersports are available. There’s surfing, sailing, windsurfing, and paragliding. And if you need to unwind, Mykonos has 25 sugar-white sand beaches.

There’s also an incredible dining scene in Mykonos Town. You’ll find fantastic fusion restaurants, traditional tavernas, and plenty of fast food joints here.

Bali – Indonesia

Despite what you may have heard, there are still untouched corners of the magnificent island of Bali.

For single dudes who want to hook up and get down, Kuta is the place to head for. When staying in or close to Kuta, you’ll soon get into the rhythm of the place. Eat, drink, rave, sleep, and repeat for as long as your body can keep up!

There are more bars than you can handle, and each has its own atmosphere and vibe. When looking for loud and late drinking places, you should head to the streets around Poppies I and II. Some spectacular clubs, including Potato Head and Ku De Ta, are a short taxi ride away if you’re after something more upmarket.

If you’re after a tripped-out holiday, local Balinese magic mushrooms are available in a few bars on the island. Watch for signs advertising “space shakes” or “mushroom shakes” on billboards.

The rainy season in Bali goes from October until March, so it’s best avoided around this time. The best time to find cheap flights is between September and December. But the most fun is to be had during the dry season, which runs from April through October.

A final note is that Bali is also one of the best places to learn how to surf. So grab a board and your best swim shorts and enjoy this tropical paradise.

Buenos Aires, Argentina

British Virgin Islands

Unlike many of the other destinations, the best time to visit Mallorca is July to mid-September.

Boulder, Colorado

More of a cold weather person? Then, Boulder Colorado is the location for you. Enjoy the amazing views of the Rocky Mountains, go on the slopes, and even check out the local breweries. Boulder is actually called “Beer Town USA”, because it has the most breweries than any other city in the country. Besides the breweries, you can check out the booming nightlife on Pear Street, like the dance club Rosetta Hall. The best time to visit Boulder is January to March or June to August.
