Very good game but there’s a few things that annoy me…

This game is a VERY good game but there’s a few thing that you people need to fix. 1st make the Commercial Jet Free! I hate how there’s only a Trainer plane that’s Free. 2nd Make the Fighter Jet Also Free! Same reason as before by the way. Lastly Make it easier to make straight lines! Please do this Soon and I’ll give this app 5 stars but for now I’ll only give this app 4 stars.

Good concept but a few things need fixing

I think the concept of this app is fantastic but there are somethings that I would like changed. Making some vehicles free, and also making so you can put a stop anywhere. I make videos on social media about artists who tour around the world, and I rely on animated travel maps, like this one to help me with the project. However, some artist tour all around the world and if you set a destination somewhere, there is a boundary to where you can place a stop. That is pretty annoying and sometimes very frustrating. Another thing is that placing a stop is very tedious. Why not just allow people to search a stop.

Love this app

This app is really great for tracking big overland trips. Very recent bug seems to mean that the trip line isn’t “smoothed” like it was until very recently. It jolts around very harshly in straight lines rather than smoothed, curved lines. This problem only seems to have started today, was fine before that for me. Is there any setting I’ve accidentally changed or is it possible an update has inadvertently caused this?

Astro Bot Review: A Charming Platformer With Surprises, Excitement & Nostalgia

Harry potter: quidditch champions review: finally delivering the magical sports chaos you've been waiting for, the casting of frank stone pc review: underwhelming & lacking magic.

Planning a vacation or going on a work trip? If you want to post about it on social media and make it stand out, the  Travel Boast  app lets you turn your travels into fun, sharable videos. Social media apps are everywhere today . Whether it be Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, or Snapchat, there's no shortage of apps for chatting with friends and seeing what all of your followers are up to.

If you like social media but are tired of the same old same old, 2022's been a fantastic year for new and innovative social apps. Locket Widget launched in January as a way to post pictures directly on your friends' home screens. Spam App also debuted earlier this year as a laid-back alternative to Snapchat. Add those together with the Prequel app, Motionleap, and Reface, and it's been a busy year so far.

Adding to the list of viral smartphone apps is Travel Boast . The idea behind Travel Boast is quite simple. Users enter a starting location , an ending location, and their route to the destination. Travel Boast uses that data to create a short trip video  "on an animated Indiana Jones style map." Whether you're taking a family road trip, flying to a different country, or heading to a popular convention, it's a fun way to show your friends/followers where you're going. Travel Boast was first released in 2019, but it wasn't until March 2022 that it went viral. At the time of publication, Travel Boast is the #4 top free app on the App Store and the #3 photo/video app.

How To Make Your Own Travel Boast Video

Want to use Travel Boast for yourself? Open the App Store on your iPhone , tap the 'Search' button in the bottom right corner, search for 'Travel Boast,' and download the app with an icon of a yellow airplane against a blue and white background. Upon opening Travel Boast for the first time, the app guides users through a brief tutorial.

Tap the 'Start Point' button in the top left corner to enter your starting location. This can be a country, state, city, or specific address. Tap the 'Destination' button and enter the place you're traveling to. Travel Boast initially creates a straight line between the two locations. However, you can drag your finger on the line to change its shape and show the actual route you're taking . You can also press and hold on the car icon to change the car model, add an effect, and add optional annotations. Tap the arrow icon in the top left corner to go back to the map, and when you're ready, tap the play icon at the bottom of the screen to see what your Travel Boast video looks like.

If you're happy with the video, tap 'Save video to camera roll' to save it onto your phone. Alternatively, users can edit the video before saving it. Travel Boasts lets you edit the video length, adjust the model size, and change the aspect ratio. There are also optional filters to show which countries you're traveling in and how many miles (or kilometers) you've traveled. When you're all finished, tap the arrow icon in the top left corner to return to the map.

Travel Boast videos are saved with the rest of your iPhone's photos/videos. To share it on social media, open the Photos app, tap the Travel Boast video, tap the share icon in the bottom left corner, and choose which app you want to share it on. You can also open Twitter, Instagram, or whatever app you want and share the Travel Boast video like you would with anything else.

7 Useful Apps Every Traveler Should Know About

Technology continues to make travel easier for millions of people around the globe. New apps offer travelers fresh ways to research a destination, connect with fellow globetrotters, communicate with locals, and track their flights. As a full-time digital nomad , I’ve learned the importance of having the right tools at your disposal when on the road.

Over the past few years, I’ve visited dozens of countries, flown hundreds of thousands of miles, and tested countless apps to find the ones that prove to be the most helpful. And while tools like Meetup, Google Maps, Google Translate, currency converters, and vacation rental , airline, and hotel–specific apps are in fact indispensable on most trips, I find that many of the best travel apps are still undiscovered by my fellow travelers.

Below, seven travel apps that make life on the go markedly easier (and more fun), from real-time flight trackers to photo-sharing gems—all of these apps are free, but some have paid pro versions worth considering. Don’t think these apps are only for full-time travelers—they prove useful for every type of traveler, whether you're in a brand-new destination or back for a return visit.

Discover the best apps for travelers:

Apps for flying, apps for exploring, apps for photo sharing.

Image may contain: Aircraft, Airliner, Airplane, Transportation, Vehicle, and Flight

My favorite app on this list is Flighty, a must-have for any frequent flier . The free version is fantastic, but I recommend splurging for the premium version, which gives you even more useful information and comes at a reasonable cost of $48 per year. The functionality it provides more than justifies the price.

The free version allows you to input all future flights plus past journeys you've taken within the last year. It provides updated information if any schedule changes occur to upcoming flights and allows you to track all the miles you’ve flown in one place.

The other main benefit is that it allows you to share your flight information with friends and family members who are also on Flighty. They will receive real-time updates about your flight without you having to text them. My parents love to make sure I’m safe so they appreciate getting detailed information about my travels—even while I’m in the air.

Image may contain: Gun, Weapon, Shooting, and Spiral

Flightradar24 is a favorite app among fellow aviation geeks. It lets you track almost any aircraft you see in the air throughout the day or night. You can track your own flight, a friend's flight, or any plane you see in real-time. It shares plenty of cool data, like the altitude, speed, arrival and departure airports and times, and tail number.

Image may contain: Logo, and First Aid

There are tons of eSIM apps on the market, but Airalo is probably my favorite, with digital SIM cards available for dozens of countries. I find it to be the most reliable and offers the best data packages. It can be a little pricey, but it is the best option if you’re only taking short trips. Holafly is another eSIM app that offers unlimited data and works well, but I find the app to be much more glitchy than Airalo and would recommend using the desktop version.

Image may contain: Symbol, First Aid, Text, and Logo

This one is for the planner of the group. Wanderlog merges the best of a bunch of different apps into one. Imagine an app that lets you plan a trip with ease: collaborate with friends as if you’re on Google Docs, manage expense tracking like Splitwise, and have a central place for your reservations, checklists, and more. Tripit is a similar travel planner app, so you can download both and get a feel for which interface you like better.

Image may contain: Paper, and Ice

Been allows you to track the countries you’ve visited and make a wish list of places you can’t wait to cross off your travel bucket list . It gives you information like the percentage of the globe you’ve been to and shows you a world map of your trips. It’s always fun to add in a new country whenever I reach my destination.

Image may contain: Sign, Symbol, Road Sign, and Weapon

This app was introduced to me by fellow nomads I met at a cafe in Montevideo, Uruguay . It automatically tracks your route across the world, allowing you to quickly upload pictures throughout your travels that can be viewed by anyone who has access to your profile. It’s an excellent way to share important moments with loved ones without needing to send photos to each person individually. Users can also create easily accessible guides filled with up-to-date information to help you plan your own trip.

Image may contain: Logo, and Disk

Steller is another app that a friend recently introduced me to, and I’ve quickly fallen in love with it. It uses a combination of AI and user experiences to help you plan trips around the globe. From recommendations of things to see, like the Recoleta Cemetery in Buenos Aires or the Royal Palace of Naples, to full guidebooks created by users, you can get inspired, book experiences, and discover hidden gems within this app.

Overall good

I have it 4 stars only because there is not an option to change the distance calculation from km to miles.

By Choicemas

Would have given it 5 stars because I like TravelBoast , and as a content creator it is great, however the choice of colors (need black) and the fact Big Rig Flatbeds aren’t available to choose is a disappointment. It would really be great if the development team could add Peterbilt Model Trucks with Flatbed trailers. Also adding black as a choice of color. I drive a Flatbed truck, as do millions of other drivers. Don’t leave us flatbedders out!! Once I see those flatbed rigs as a choice I will resubmit a 5 star review!!! Hopefully soon!!!

Truck Driver

I’m an OTR Owner/Operator Truck Driver and TravelBoast is a lot of fun to share with family and friends. Just wish it had different trailer types to select with the Semi. I pull a flatbed trailer. If y’all could add that option it would really personalize this feature for drivers. Thanks

By jennachipps

Super cool! We love it

TravelBoast is really new and neat. We love the idea of turning our trips into visuals! It makes it so fun and exciting looking back on trips or looking forward to trips. I can’t wait to create my routes using emojis like airplanes, camper vans, and hiking people. I love the videos it makes that you can easily share or post!

By raodwarrior1233567

Pretty cool but time consuming

This is a pretty cool app to show what routes one took on a trip. But there has to be an easier way than to drop dots all over the map to show your route. Also when you drop a dot I wish the line wouldn’t move behind the previous dot so you don’t have to waste time going back to correct it.

By RoadGeekHyuck

Really enjoy it….

But your latest update now has annoying ads when you try and save your drives, if you click the “X” when it pops up, it doesn’t save. It didnt do this before the latest update. You’re better off fixing this. Otherwise, pretty fun to use until the latest update

By MichelleBryer

Love this app🥰🥰

I got TravelBoast because of TikTok and I’m in love with it. I started travel around the world because of TravelBoast. The kids also really enjoy it when we went to Dubai earlier this summer. It truly is amazing.

Great travel app, amazing videos

This is a great travel app to create journeys with mixed transportation. Having lot of fun teaching kids our family journeys. It would be cool if there was sound add to the various transports. Otherwise really cool app. Thanks !

By Firebird1249318

Amazing App

I really love and enjoy TravelBoast. I mainly use TravelBoast to see the journeys that my favorite sports teams take when they are on the road. I hope that there will be new features soon

By PirateLooknAt40

Great Tool!

I’m really enjoying using this thing! I do of course have a couple of feature request… 1 - It would be great if I could place a static marker, for example leaving my truck in one location while showing my hike through the hills. 2 - Allow control over map zoom, being able to control the angle and zoom would allow for more dynamic transitions… maybe :) Anyways, great job on TravelBoast !

By Nicknaim77445

Fun app and functional!

TravelBoast is fun and it works! Suggestion for improvement: Ability to look up the intermediate locations, not just start and end

By jetpilots

Entertaining, still

Entertaining on the back end when it’s complete should you not be busy at work. Great that it’s free (for now?) less the premium vehicles. Some suggestions for the developer: Ability to delete a single waypoint. Currently the “delete” wipes everything. When attempting to move a waypoint it will build another waypoint without a way to delete it. This may be more difficult. Why not create where it follows the road in lieu of a poly line that has to be reformed for each waypoint placed? Meanwhile enjoy!

By sag al ghanim

Keep up the good work

I wish like you can like have items like when you travel

By awsom dragons lol

I love TravelBoast I just wish it would say the places that you are at like cemetery or I also wish you would be able to see houses

By Dan_Clements

Great! Wish I could save.

Great app! Would have liked a way to save individual trips as projects so I could have a database of trips to look back to. Good job!

By jchipps86

Fun to show our adventures!

I’ve enjoyed using TravelBoast to map out our adventures to show it visually. It takes some toying with to get the hang of it, but it’s pretty simple and cool!

By connorreview045

So I downloaded TravelBoast because I have seen several Tik tok videos of people traveling single roads (garden state pkwy for example) but I can’t figure out how to do that? Do I have to manually add all the turns and stuff? Or what do I do?

By sunrise4me

App is crap

I’m a professional truck driver. I thought this would be a fun way to let my family know where I was going next. I purchased the icon for a semi truck for $1.99. When I tried to use TravelBoast , the semi truck icon was not available, and the route TravelBoast indicated from Florida to South Carolina was through the ocean!

Skype-Best-Travel-Apps

Skype is an excellent means to stay connected with loved ones back home while you’re away.

We use the Skype app when calling a business or private number that isn’t on WhatsApp.

One of the best things about the Skype app is the ability to make free video calls globally, provided that both parties use Skype.

Additionally, you can place calls to landlines or mobile phones for a fee.

Keeping your Skype credit topped up with $10-20 allows seamless calling from your mobile or landline, making it a cost-effective way to communicate worldwide.

Access to a wifi signal makes the possibilities endless; you can reach any number globally with super affordable bills.

For digital nomads and business owners who are constantly on the move, Skype proves to be an indispensable app. It lets you quickly jump on work calls, making it an ideal tool.

Best feature:  Make free calls/video calls to any country worldwide.

5. Google Maps

Google-Maps-Best-Travel-Apps

Google Maps is an essential app for every traveller. It’s one of our phones’ most frequently used travel apps. We especially love that you can save cafes, hotels or places you want to visit and mark that spot with selected labels.

We use the ‘heart’ label to add our favourite places to eat, and in the notes section, we add what dish we’d like to eat there.

We like to use the ‘green flag’ label for places we’d like to visit, including attractions and landmarks. There’s a ‘blue bag’ label to pin accommodation options, too. This is handy for saving our hotel or apartment address, and you can customise the label and add notes here, too.

Our Favourite Feature:  The option to download and save offline maps.

6. WISE

WISE-Best-Travel-Apps

WISE is an online account that lets you send money, get paid, and spend internationally.

This is a must-have travel app for every traveller, especially if you plan to travel long-term.

15. Grab (and other ride-sharing apps)

Grab-Best-Travel-Apps

Ride-sharing apps have been a saviour for us as we’ve made our way around the world.

As I understand, Uber was the first ride-sharing app to launch, but now there are many fantastic apps that can make your life so much easier on the road.

Depending on what country or region of the world you plan to travel to, we recommend downloading the ride-sharing apps below.

  • Grab – For travel in Southeast Asia.
  • Bolt – For travel in Europe, Tunisia (read these 10 Best Tips for Independent Travel in Tunisia ) and other nations in Africa too.
  • Uber – For travel in the USA, Canada, Europe & Australia
  • FreeNow – Travel in Europe (up to 150+ cities)
  • BiTaksi – For travel in Turkey.

And there are many more!

Most ride-sharing apps allow you to add your bank card to your profile to take care of the payment. We like this feature because you don’t need any local currency, and it cancels the chance of getting scammed by a taxi driver. Unfortunately, scams do happen.

Read our post about how to avoid 6 common tourist scams in China .

Our Favourite Feature:  Seeing the estimated price and journey time before you make a booking.

Maps.me app is similar to Google Maps in some ways, but it’s much better for navigating rugged terrains!

Whenever we go hiking, we ensure we’ve got our map downloaded on Maps.me; it rarely lets us down. It does a great job of showing the small trails that Google Maps doesn’t usually pick up.

It covers six continents, making it essential for unexplored or remote spots.

This travel app was handy in Africa, particularly when directing a taxi driver to our nominated address. Maps.me allows you to set up the navigation and press speak on the app, a voice will then guide you in the selected language. You should see the look on the taxi drivers’ faces when we do this; it’s pure amazement.

The Best Smart Phones to Use When You Travel

Smartphone photo of a sunset taken overseas with bright colors in the distance

In this post, Dave Dean from Too Many Adapters shares his best tips and advice on how to pick the best smartphone for when you travel.

As a travel tech writer, I get asked about using smartphones for travel all the time. The minute we head overseas with our phones, we’re hit with a confusing mess of technical jargon, expensive roaming agreements, conflicting advice, and nonworking gear. Trying to discuss the nuances of GSM frequency bands or iPhone unlock codes with a mobile vendor in a dusty Cambodian town isn’t my idea of fun, and I doubt it’s yours either.

Since we all want our smartphones to work when we travel, I’ve put together this guide covering everything you need to know to get your smartphone working overseas — as well as the best smartphones for travel. It’s detailed, but not too complicated, and will save you money, time, and plenty of frustration!

The Best Travel Smartphones

Traveling with a Smartphone: Tips and Advice

Phone SIM cards and tools

This is an inexpensive way to stay connected with phone and data service while you travel. The downside is that you’ll have to change SIM cards every time you change countries, so you may end up carrying a stack of SIM cards around the world with you (though I like being reminded of all the places I’ve been!).

Here are some other tips for using your phone:

1. Only use Wi-Fi when possible – Your smartphone will still connect over Wi-Fi just fine, so replace calling with Skype or Google Voice, SMS with WhatsApp, and download a bunch of offline travel apps to use when you’re away from a signal. You’ll be surprised how well that approach can work, and not getting notifications all the time is quite refreshing.

You can download Google Maps and download the map of the city online then use it without Wi-Fi. Also, you can search for your destination in Google Maps and it still works when you don’t have Wi-Fi if your location is on. You can also take screenshots and save them.

Some cities even have free public Wi-Fi in parks and public spaces like airports and train stations. If you really need it, lots of international chains like McDonald’s and Starbucks have Wi-Fi if you buy something to eat or drink. Remember to be careful with your data on these open networks (a VPN is recommended).

2. Buy a budget smartphone – While there’s a lot of junk at the bottom of the smartphone range, there are a few decent phones for travelers under $200. My current favorite is the Motorola Moto G — you’ll want to buy a microSD card for some extra storage, but other than that it’s a reasonably speedy smartphone, with a battery that lasts all day. Tip: grab the “Global” version for maximum compatibility overseas. You’ll still need to buy local SIM cards to put in it.

3. Rent a phone – You can rent phones at airports and from various companies before you leave home, but I’d only consider it for a short trip to a specific country where my usual phone didn’t work. For anything other than that, it’s cheaper just to buy a new one.

4. Rent or buy a portable hotspot – Portable hotspots are small gadgets that create a wireless network and share a cellular data connection over it — you can typically connect 5 or 10 devices to the network you create. You can rent one for short trips at an inflated daily or weekly rate, or you can buy an unlocked hotspot and stick a local SIM card in it, just as if it were a phone. Your smartphone will treat this like any other Wi-Fi network.

Getting your smartphone to work overseas without coming home to a huge bill isn’t always a straightforward task. But with a bit of time and effort, you’ll know exactly what options you’ve got when you’re on the road and you’ll be able to use your phone overseas.

Do your research, avoid the rip-offs, buy one of the above best smartphones when you travel, and you’ll be able to stay in touch, stay connected, and stay Instagramming when you travel!

Book Your Trip: Logistical Tips and Tricks

Book Your Flight Find a cheap flight by using Skyscanner . It’s my favorite search engine because it searches websites and airlines around the globe so you always know no stone is being left unturned.

Book Your Accommodation You can book your hostel with Hostelworld . If you want to stay somewhere other than a hostel, use Booking.com as it consistently returns the cheapest rates for guesthouses and hotels.

Don’t Forget Travel Insurance Travel insurance will protect you against illness, injury, theft, and cancellations. It’s comprehensive protection in case anything goes wrong. I never go on a trip without it as I’ve had to use it many times in the past. My favorite companies that offer the best service and value are:

  • SafetyWing (best for everyone)
  • InsureMyTrip (for those 70 and over)
  • Medjet (for additional evacuation coverage)

Best portable battery packs for iPhone 2024: travel-ready power supplies

Recharge your iPhone on the go.

If you're looking for the best portable battery packs for iPhone, you will need to find the right one for you. Maybe you're looking for the highest amount of mAh possible, maybe you want it to charge magnetically, or maybe you want something that can be carried around super easily. That's where iMore comes in. We are here to sort through the huge range of portable battery packs and pick out a few for you to choose from.

Our best choice right now is UGreen's 25,000mAh power bank , as it combines value with charge capacity but the ESR HaloLock has a really smart design for magnetically charging, and Apple's own battery looks the best out of the whole list.

Here are the best portable battery packs for iPhone right now and what sets each of our choices apart from the other.

Ugreen portable battery

UGreen's 145W power bank is a solid choice. It offers 25,000mAh of juice, and one of its three ports offers 100W charging speeds over a USB-C connection, making it great for reviving an iPhone more than five times from a single charge of the bank. It's a premium option, but worth the expense given the quality on show.

Anker slim portable battery pack

The Anker Portable Charger features a slim design with big 10,000mAh power. It offers versatile charging where Anker’s exclusive PowerIQ and VoltageBoost technology combine to detect and deliver a tailored charge up to 12W, while the trickle-charging mode is the best way to charge low-power devices. It has overcharge, short circuit, and temperature control protection, so you never have to worry about overheating or overcharging.

Apple Portable battery pack

We love how Apple's MagSafe Battery Pack attaches magnetically to any iPhone 12 series or newer iPhone. In our review, we noticed how thin and light it is compared to other battery packs, and how nice it feels in hand. Note that with only 1,460mAh of power, you'll get a power boost, but not a full iPhone charge.

Anker MagGo Wireless Charging Station

The Anker MagGo three-in-one is a super versatile charger, giving you charging options galore. There's a MagSafe charging roundal for your iPhone as well as a built-in Apple Watch charger and an AirPods slot. It's got enough power to charge all three at the same time, making it a great charging traveling companion.

ESR halolock portable battery

This is a beautifully simple concept executed brilliantly — a MagSafe charger with a useful kickstand so that you can charge your iPhone and watch some Apple TV. It's not the biggest capacity, but there's enough extra to give you a full charge.

Belkin Boostcharge Pro

The Belkin Boostcharge Pro is an incredibly useful little portable charger. It has a built-in Apple Watch charging puck, so that you can leave your Apple Watch charging cable at home. There's enough power for a full Apple Watch and iPhone charge, so it's perfect for a weekend away or shorter holidays where you might not have access to a plug.

Picking the right portable battery pack for your iPhone

You can always trust iMore. Our team of Apple experts have years of experience testing all kinds of tech and gadgets, so you can be sure our recommendations and criticisms are accurate and helpful. Find out more about how we test.

A portable power bank is the best way to ensure your iPhone 15 , iPhone 15 Pro , or any of the other best iPhones keeps going until the end of the day. There's nothing worse than being caught in a precarious position with a low battery. Luckily, there are many portable battery pack options to choose from, so you always have backup power on hand.

UGreen's 145W power bank is our current top pick. It's a larger battery pack, but that's because its big charge capacity makes it so. That trade off allows you to fast charge an iPhone up to five times along with some power to spare for your other smaller devices like AirPods, while a fully-charged 25,000mAh max capacity is enough for a MacBook charge, too.

If you have an iPhone 12 or newer, you can take advantage of MagSafe charging with Apple's compact MagSafe Battery and leave the cables at home. The Apple MagSafe Battery is a nice compromise between power and portability. It's compact and super easy to use — no cables needed. Just pop it onto the back of your iPhone and go. If you don't have an iPhone with MagSafe capability but you do have wireless charging (iPhone 8 or newer), you can still use this charger, it just won't stick to the back.

Whether you're looking for something that's capable of charging both your iPhone and your MacBook, need versatility in your ports, or want a great MagSafe option, these are the best portable battery packs for iPhone.
