We arranged to have a surprise birthday trip during our stay in Cuba and we went out in a fabulous Pontiac 1957. We organised this trip from the UK before we left.

Jordan our tour guide and Julio the driver (Vin Diesel lookalike) have taken us to an unforgettable trip to Havana from Varadero. They were both very friendly and helpful.

Was a fun day, I believe the the car was a 1967 Chevy. The driver and guide were great. They both represented the Cuban culture and shared the history of all the places we visited.

We did a tour from Varadero to Havana and had a great day. Although our driver did not speak English, he was very friendly and our guide was a great translator between us.

Dates & Prices

Unfortunately, we don't offer late returns on this package. However, if you select the Land Only option, you're welcome to make your own arrangements to arrive early or stay later. Want to extend your trip?

Options & Fees

1. There is limited inventory of more spacious rooms at our casa in Havana for an additional $95 per person, double occupancy. Please call us to request.

1. Baggage fees must be paid at airport for each flight. In Cuba, this must be paid in cash. Price is subject to the airline and can change at any time.

So that we can offer you the best deals, our packages are, like most hotels and cruises, priced based on double occupancy rooms or cabins. We charge solo travelers an extra fee to cover the extra costs of single occupancy rooms or cabins. (Consider: if you booked a $200/night hotel room solo, you would pay the $200 yourself; but if a couple booked the same room, each one would pay only $100.) But you only pay extra for the rooms or cabins, nothing else, including meals, sightseeing, tips, etc. Why are single rooms more?

Flights & Departure Cities

This package includes round-trip flights from the city listed above. Please review the flight schedule , especially if you're booking connecting flights.

Want to fly from another city? We can arrange flights from most major cities. Ask us for a quote for flights from your preferred city when (or after) you book, and we'll get back to you with the price and availability within 3 business days. Of course, you can also book your own flights. More information

Immerse yourself in the vibrant colors of Cuba while walking along the cobblestone streets and explore the four beautiful plazas of the Old City – Plaza de Armas, Plaza San Francisco, Plaza Vieja, and Plaza de la Catedral - each a historic and architectural gem. Among the private businesses you'll discover during your walk, Clandestina is one shop that is making plenty of waves both in Cuba and abroad. This shop was founded by Idania del Río and Leire Fernández, two creative, entrepreneurial women who believe in a sustainable, fair, and ethical fashion industry. Clandestina is the country's first online clothing retailer and has even appeared as a pop-up store in New York. Afterward, enjoy lunch at a local paladar or private restaurant.   Then, visit the private studio of one of Cuba's talented independent artists. Step into Cuba's world of music and dance with a private dance class. First, experience Cuba's most traditional dances through a demonstration by your talented and personable teachers. Learn how important music and dancing are to life in Cuba. Then, learn the basic steps and try Cuban dancing for yourself. Return to the casa and enjoy dinner on your own. We recommend dining at a paladar for a delicious Cuban dinner. Please choose one from the list we provide or ask your guide for any additional recommendations.  Day 3 Havana & Cojimar Travel to Cojimar, the local fishing village that was the setting for Hemingway’s "The Old Man and the Sea" Participate in a traditional Cuban cooking experience, from gathering ingredients to putting them to use in the kitchen Visit an inspiring community project Stop at the independent Artisan’s Market Learn about Cuban cigars through a rolling demonstration El Encanto de Perseverancia or similar Breakfast & lunch Full Day Itinerary This morning, drive to the quaint fishing village of Cojimar, which served as the setting for Ernest Hemingway's masterpiece The Old Man and the Sea. Then, learn the secrets of the Cuban kitchen and participate in a traditional Cuban cooking class. Begin your experience by meeting the staff of the paladar, Café Ajiaco, who will guide you on your culinary journey. First, stop at the paladar’s “organopónico” (organic garden) to see where their products and ingredients grow. Pick some for yourself and bring them back to the restaurant to create your dishes. Then, the experienced chefs of Café Ajiaco will teach you the process of making some of Cuba’s most delicious traditional food and an authentic Cuban mojito, and how to pair rum with cigars. Enjoy lunch courtesy of your morning cooking activity. This afternoon visit Muraleando, where art, music, and community spirit have transformed a once-drab neighborhood into one of beauty and color. See garden sculptures, paintings, mosaics, and recycled materials transformed into stunning and colorful artwork. It is remarkable how the project's beautiful murals have resurrected the neighborhood's appearance and pride. The center also provides free workshops for the community, including voice lessons, drumming, dance classes, ceramic art, painting, cinematography, and much more. In addition, Muraleando helps to inspire and cultivate artistic skills in children from the entire neighborhood and has won awards in Cuba for being the most effective community project in the country. Stop at Havana's independent Artisans Market, where you will be able to engage with local private artisan stands and find plenty of souvenirs, including handicrafts, posters, and other collectibles. Afterward, learn about the history of Cuban cigars as you witness a cigar-rolling demonstration.  Day 4 Havana Explore Callejon de Hamel Walk Havana’s grand San Rafael Boulevard and visit with private business owners Stop by a local farmer’s market Have lunch at a local paladar Visit the famous community mosaic project known as “Fusterlandia” Visit a children's community project in Havana Take a ride in a classic American convertible to tour picturesque Havana in style Enjoy your farewell dinner at a local paladar El Encanto de Perseverancia or similar Breakfast, lunch & dinner Full Day Itinerary After breakfast, visit Callejon de Hamel, the shortest street in Havana, decorated with fanciful objects referencing Santería, an Afro-Cuban religion fusing African beliefs and Christianity. Marvel at the murals by one of Cuba’s most famous artists, the late Salvador Gonzáles Escalona. A local guide will help you explore the area, introduce you to some of the artwork on display and explain Santería's beliefs, customs, and how it is part of Cuban culture. Later, walk along Havana's renovated San Rafael Boulevard, visiting with multiple private entrepreneurs along the way. The boulevard hosts some of Havana's most innovative projects and one-of-a-kind shops. Behind every private business is a progressive individual or co-op excited to share a bit about their journey in the Cuban private sector and their passion and enthusiasm for what they do. After, experience one of Cuba's typical farmer's markets ("agromercados"). Glimpse into the daily life of Cuban people shopping for fruits, vegetables, beans, and spices based on what is available to them that particular day. After lunch at a local paladar, take a walk in Jaimanitas, a neighborhood unlike any you have ever seen, where you'll discover a wonderland of mosaic art created by independent artist Jose Fuster. Known worldwide for his intricate works made of colorful tiles, Fuster has covered his house and an entire neighborhood in mosaic murals of cultural, historical, and whimsical designs. With a bit of luck, you might even encounter the often-barefoot artist on his house's glistening, multicolored patio, hard at work on his latest project. Visit a children's community project in Havana before returning to your casa to rest before dinner. Then, travel back in time by taking a tour in one of Havana’s classic American cars. You will get some picturesque views of Havana from your incredibly maintained automobile and arrive at dinner in style. Tonight, join your fellow travelers at a farewell dinner at one of our favorite paladars.  Day 5 Havana/Miami Transfer to the airport and board your flight back to Miami Breakfast

El Encanto de Perseverancia

El Encanto de Perseverancia is ideally located in the Centro Havana neighborhood adjacent to Old Havana and just north of Chinatown. This non-touristy neighborhood delivers an authentic, friendly Cuban experience. The casa is located next to a primary school, and close to some of Havana’s best paladars, and only a short drive away from Havana's main attractions, including the Capitol Building, Cathedral Square, Gran Theater of Havana, Malecon, Central Park and museums.

Havana’s often described as being trapped in a time warp, thanks to the cool retro cars prowling the streets and the crumbling mix of colonial and art deco design. But while we love the vintage vibe of Havana, the city also has so much more to explore in the here and now. Take a Havana city tour that will expose you to Afro-Cuban religion, show you the broken beauty that defines the city’s spectacular, UNESCO-designated architecture, and teach you about what remains today of la Revolución. Then finish it all off, of course, with a mojito in la Habana Vieja.

CTRL-ing The Cash: Inside SZA's Net Worth, Chart-Topping Hits, And Sold-Out Tours

  • SZA's debut album, Ctr l, was met with widespread critical acclaim, earning four Grammy Award nominations and a certified triple platinum from the RIAA.
  • The Grammy Award-winning singer has cultivated a strong presence across various platforms, selling over 7 million physical albums and garnering billions of streams on digital platforms.
  • SZA's net worth is estimated at $6 million, fueled by her chart-topping album sales, successful fashion ventures, and a portfolio of brand endorsements.

Solána Imani Rowe, known to the world as SZA, originally aspired to a career in science, with dreams of becoming a marine biologist while pursuing music as a side passion. However, when her ambitions in marine biology did not materialize, she found herself exploring various jobs, from selling sneakers to working as a bartender in strip clubs .

Little did she know, her destiny was leading her towards a different kind of limelight - one on the grand stage of the music industry. During this period, SZA's close relationship with her brother, Daniel (known as Manhattan), who was a rapper, allowed her to connect with other musicians who ignited a spark within her, revealing that her true passion lay in music.

She immersed herself in the musical community and refined her skills through online platforms. SZA first gained recognition in 2012 through her self-released EPs See.SZA.Run and S , which helped her become the first female artist to sign with Kendrick Lamar’s Top Dawg Entertainment.

In an interview with Rolling Stone , the six-time Billboard Award winner candidly discussed her financial struggles, saying, "Even the day I got signed, I was broke as [expletive]. I didnt have enough money to get to the bank and cash my check."

The same young woman who began her official music career without a dime to her name is now earning substantial paychecks from multiple sources. Let’s take a look at SZA’s net worth and the various avenues through which she has accumulated her $6 million fortune.

Havana Nights, Hollywood Lights: Inside Camila Cabello's Multi-Million Dollar Success

Since leaving Fifth Harmony, Camila Cabello's hits like Havana and various collaborations have helped her achieve an $18 million net worth.

SZAs Earnings From Album Sales

It took SZA two albums to ascend from newcomer to luminary, her music a supernova illuminating the cosmos of contemporary sound. SZA's debut album, CTRL , opened the floodgates, selling 3,615,000 copies worldwide. Her second album, SOS , took her to new heights, topping the Billboard 200 and placing five tracks in the top 10 of the Billboard Hot 100. With 4,072,000 copies sold worldwide, SOS captured an even broader audience.

In an era dominated by digital consumption, SZA's remarkable feat of selling over 7 million physical albums serves as a powerful reminder of her genre-bending artistry and the bond she shares with her audience. The four-time Grammy Award winner has seen her music streamed over a billion times, an achievement that speaks to her unparalleled ability to connect with listeners worldwide.

According to industry standards, 1,500 streams are equivalent to one album sale, translating to 27.5 million equivalent album sales through digital platforms alone. When combined with her physical album sales, her total reaches over 34 million units. Using the standard calculation of $10 per album and a typical artist's share of 10%, SZA's cumulative earnings from her album sales are estimated to be around $34 million.

SZAs Digital Domination And The Cash Flowing In

SZA is a contemporary Neo Soul singer, and her incredible voice, paired with thought-provoking and brilliant lyrics, is her greatest asset. This potent combination is the essence of her artistry, drawing millions of fans who eagerly seek out her music, hanging onto every note. Her exceptional skill has been minting money on digital platforms , where her innovative sound and style have become a currency of their own.

SZA has over 67.50 million monthly listeners on Spotify alone, and her songs have been streamed an astonishing 24.3 billion times. With over 2 billion streams, Kill Bill is SZA's most streamed song on Spotify. The singer-songwriter's multimedia mastery extends to YouTube, where her official channel has drawn 3.6 billion views and attracted 5.29 million subscribers with an additional 102.6 million views on her YouTube Music platform.

Across these digital platforms, SZA’s music has been streamed more than 28 billion times. According to a conservative estimate of $3,000 per million views, she would have earned $83.85 million in just seven years of her musical career from ad revenue programs, averaging $11.97 million annually and approximately $1 million monthly.

In addition to her streaming success, the Missouri-born superstar has a significant presence on social media, with 21.4 million followers on Instagram and 8.6 million followers on X (formerly Twitter). Such a broad reach makes her an attractive partner for brands seeking promotional opportunities, allowing her to generate substantial income from social media endorsements and posts.

Doja Cat Net Worth: Exploring Her Rise to Fame and Fortune

The cat's out of the bag, here is how Doja Cat went from SoundCloud sensation to $12 million mogul, her success is the textbook "rags to riches" tale.

SZA Tour Earnings

SZA’s powerful voice and energetic performances draw huge crowds to her concerts, earning her significant revenue from tours — an essential income stream for any musician. In 2017, as the Golden Globe Award-nominated singer was beginning to make waves in the mainstream music scene, she set off on her groundbreaking CTRL Tour .

Although not all data from the tour’s 53 shows is available, some standout performances demonstrate her early success. For instance, her concert at Austin's EMO grossed $31,000 with 1,550 tickets sold , and her New York show brought in $45,000 with 1,800 attendees. These figures are particularly remarkable given her relatively new status in the music scene at the time. Fast-forward six years, and SZA's ability to draw crowds has reached extraordinary new heights.

SZA racked in over $113 million from 63 shows during her 2023 SOS Tour , averaging around $1.51 million per concert. With her third album, Lana , on the horizon, anticipation is building for her next tour, where her mesmerizing musical talent will once again entertain audiences.

Ctrl Fishing Company And Other Ventures

The girl who once juggled various jobs while dreaming of becoming a musician, a business mogul, or an actress has now achieved one of those dreams and stands as one of the most prominent superstars in the music world. With her sights set on her second goal of becoming a business mogul like Rihanna , SZA is taking impressive strides into the entrepreneurial arena.

The Academy Award-nominated singer has already launched her own clothing line and partnered with the Australian eyewear brand Quay to release a stylish range of sunglasses. SZA's endorsement strategy is also formidable; while many artists aspire to collaborate with major brands, SZA has successfully turned that aspiration into reality. She has partnered with top brands such as SKIMS, Tommy Hilfiger, Cadillac, Marc Jacobs, Calvin Klein, and Crocs.

Her massive fan following has driven the success of these brands, and in return, these partnerships have considerably boosted SZA's net worth to an outstanding $6 million. Not one to rest on her musical laurels, SZA is now pursuing her third ambition: becoming an actress. While she previously appeared as Coya in the HBO comedy-drama series Insecure , she is set to make her film debut in an upcoming buddy comedy movie alongside Keke Palmer .

Tour Championship Livestream: How to Watch the Golf Tournament Online

If you purchase an independently reviewed product or service through a link on our website, Rolling Stone may receive an affiliate commission.

Quick Answer : You can stream the Tour Championship for free by taking advantage of the five-day free trial from DirecTV Stream . A Peacock subscription will also get you access to the Golf Channel, which is carrying the tournament.

The PGA Tour season is coming to a close, which means the top 30 golfers of the FedEx Cup Playoff are gearing up for the 2024 Tour Championship in Atlanta. With a win comes the coveted tournament title and a $25 million payout.

Whether you’ve been following the PGA Tour all year or just want to see some great golf, you’ll want to catch this year’s Tour Championship live. Below are a few ways to stream the Tour Championship online if you’ve recently broken up with cable — including an easy way to watch the Tour Championship for free.

When Is The Tour Championship?

The Tour Championship begins on August 29 and runs through September 1. As has been the case since 2004, the event will take place at East Lake Golf Club in Atlanta, Georgia.

How to Watch the Tour Championship Online Without Cable

The 2024 Tour Championship will air on TV on the Golf Channel and NBC, but cord-cutters can tune in using a live TV streaming service like DirecTV Stream or fuboTV , which are more expensive but include the broadest range of live channels. More budget-friendly options include streaming services ESPN+ and Peacock , which will be carrying the tournament.

Here’s a full breakdown of the best ways to stream the Tour Championship online:

Streaming Services

The Golf Channel is included with a Peacock subscription, making it one of the best ways to catch the Tour Championship. The Premium plan costs $7.99 a month and includes live sports and events. Peacock currently doesn’t offer a free trial.

If you’re primarily interested in sports, ESPN+ offers extensive live sports coverage without having to pay for entertainment and news channels. A subscription to ESPN+ costs $10.99 a month, and golf fans will be able to catch the main feeds each day, as well as coverage of featured groups and featured holes. ESPN+ does not currently offer a free trial.

Multi-Channel Live TV Streaming

Directv stream.

One of the most comprehensive ways to stream sports events is with DirecTV stream, which carries the Golf Channel and NBC. You can get both channels in DirecTV Stream’s Choice package , which includes over 100 channels. It costs $69.99 a month for the first three months after the five-day free trial is over and is then $108.99 a month.

Hulu + Live TV

A Hulu+Live TV subscription includes the Golf Channel and ESPN+, giving you multiple ways to catch the Tour Championship. A subscription costs $76.99/month, including a three-day free trial.

Fubo is a great alternative to cable, particularly for sports fans. Plans start at $79.99, and the package includes a wide range of premium entertainment, sports, and news channels. The Golf Channel is included with Fubo. Fubo also offers a 7-day free trial.

Sling TV offers a variety of packages, making it easier to pay for the channels you want without the ones you don’t. You can add Sports Extra to the Sling Blue plan, which includes the Golf Channel. Sling doesn’t currently offer a free trial, but at $20 a month for the first month ($45 after) plus $11 for sports extra, it’s one of the more affordable cable alternative streaming services.

The base plan of YouTube TV costs $72.99 a month, or $52.99 a month for your first 4 months. The base plan includes access to the Golf Channel, as well as NBC (depending on region), giving you access to the action.

Stream the Tour Championship for Free

Thanks to the free trials from DirecTV Stream and fuboTV , you can watch the Tour Championship online for free. DirecTV Stream’s free trial lasts for five days, and fuboTV’s lasts for seven — both long enough to last through the whole tournament. Sign up for DirecTV Stream’s trial here , or fuboTV’s trial here , but if you decide not to keep your subscriptions, you’ll need to cancel before the trial window ends to avoid being charged.

FedEx Cup Playoffs Field, Purse

Golfers are guaranteed a significant payday just by making it into the Tour Championship, and they have the opportunity to rake in some serious dough if they place well. The first-place prize is a whopping $25 million, second place is $12.5 million, and third is $7.5 million. All players who finish in the top 12 get at least seven figures, and the golfer who finishes last (30th) gets $550,000.

As with the previous few years, the Tour Championship will give players a starting score depending on how many FedExCup points they’ve accrued during the Playoffs. The two golfers with the most points start the Tour Championship at 10-under par, the No. 2 player starts at 8-under, the No. 3 player starts at 7-under, and so on. As with last year, Scottie Scheffler is starting in the lead, with a 10-under start. Viktor Hovland is the defending champion.

Private Full Day Havana Tour Itinerary

One of the best ways to see and experience the Cuban capital is on foot, which is how your Private Full Day Havana Tour will begin. You will meet your local English-speaking private Havana guide right in the heart of Old Havana. The historic heart of the city (it was once a fortified settlement) and its walls comprise part of Old Havana’s World Heritage Site listing. But Havana soon crept beyond its protective fortifications to form distinct districts such as Miramar and Vedado. The highlight of this section of the tour is without doubt the city’s architectural gems, including El Capitolio, the Museo de la Revolución, and the Gran Teatro de la Habana. Vital to the life of the city, your guide will also show you some of the most stunning public squares you will ever see – the Plaza de Armas, Plaza de la Catedral, Plaza de San Francisco and Plaza Vieja. While these sights will demand your attention, you will be just as enchanted by watching the people of the city as they go about their daily lives. This is the side of the city we pride ourselves on demonstrating on our Private Full Day Havana Tour.

Lunch gives you the chance to take the weight off your feet and involve your guide in more in depth conversations about the capital and their home country as you come to appreciate the fantastic Cuban hospitality and great local food that you’ll enjoy at one of the capital’s authentic paladares – small family-run restaurants with their archetypal friendly Havana atmosphere.

You’ll probably be happy to learn that the afternoon section of the tour gives you the chance to relax into the lovingly-maintained seats of one of Havana’s iconic convertible classic cars as it plies the streets of the city. Not only giving you the chance to give your feet a rest while seeing much more of the city than would otherwise be possible, a classic car ride is also a highlight of our Private Full Day Havana Tour. Who could leave the city without having sat in a mode of transport that has become a part of the city’s very cultural identity? Leaving the glory of Old Havana by car you will see the contrast between the oldest parts of the city and its newer areas, as well as taking in the refurbished, repurposed (and sometimes crumbling) mansions of Miramar. You will also pass the famed Colon Cemetery, the last resting place of the city’s most influential residents and the Revolution Square. A remarkably ornate setting, it is something of a respite from the busier areas of the capital. Your tour will conclude right back where it started. If you began the tour early you will return here at approximately 4pm, giving you the rest of the afternoon to savor all that you’ve seen. But before that, you will head to the last spot on your Private Full Day Havana Tour, which is a farewell drink with your guide at the historic Hotel Nacional, where you can enjoy views of the Malecon seafront esplanade.

Since the tournament is partially airing on live TV, the only free way to watch the 2024 Tour Championship if you don’t have cable is with a live TV streaming service .

Our favorite is DIRECTV Stream , which comes with a five-day free trial — long enough to watch all of the televised portions of the Tour Championship without paying a cent.

You’ll have to subscribe to the Choice plan, as it’s the lowest-priced one that includes both NBC and the Golf Channel — and remember to cancel before the five days are up if you haven’t been sold on the service (but we think you will be!).

Other ways to watch and stream the 2024 Tour Championship without cable:

Peacock will carry every minute of action at the Tour Championship. Peacock costs $7.99/month with ads, while ESPN+ is $10.99/month.

Marquis de Lafayette returning for Seacoast tour 200 years later: What you need to know

The Frenchman who may be the original American superhero will return to New Hampshire this weekend, marking the bicentennial of his Farewell Tour of the United States.

The Marquis de Lafayette , portrayed by interpreter Ben Goldman, will arrive in a horse and carriage in Hampton Falls early Sunday morning, just as he did two centuries earlier on the morning of Sept. 1, 1824. He will go on to make stops in Hampton, Greenland and Portsmouth on Sunday to a hero’s welcome you can help create.

The year 2024 marks 200 years since the Marquis de Lafayette, one of our young country’s best friends, returned to the United States from his native France for a Farewell Tour in 1824. He returned to reunite with all those he had worked with, fought beside, and befriended during America’s struggle for freedom. On that tour, he was deemed the “Guest of the Nation” and was the toast of the town wherever he went, feted as a hero with parades and parties, and treated as an A-list celebrity by a country still so grateful for the Frenchman’s role in helping us win the Revolutionary War.

When does Lafayette arrive?

On Sunday morning, Sept. 1, Lafayette will arrive at 9 a.m. at the Hampton Falls Town Common in a horse and carriage to a flag-waving crowd.

An outdoor tea party, Tea with the Marquis, begins at 8 a.m. on the Common as residents wait for Lafayette’s arrival. The party commemorates the morning tea Lafayette enjoyed at the historic Governor Weare House that day in 1824. Croissants, jams and Harney & Sons Paris tea will be served on the town’s vintage Grange china. This event is free, but seats are limited. They can be reserved on Eventbrite .

At 8:45 a.m., the town’s official program begins. It will include a dedication ceremony for the town’s new Lafayette Trail marker, donated by Lafayette Trail Inc., a nonprofit that in recent years has been installing historical markers along the path Lafayette took for his Farewell Tour, and the William G. Pomeroy Foundation.

Lafayette will then address the crowd. A proclamation declaring Sept. 1 as Lafayette Day in Hampton Falls will be read. The New Hampshire Sons of the American Revolution Color Guard will give a three-volley salute to Lafayette. Those in attendance can greet and get a photo with Lafayette after the ceremony.

The ceremony is free and open to the public. Parking is in the back lot of Lincoln Akerman School. There is no parking along the Town Common.

The Hampton Falls Free Library and the Hampton Falls Historical Society have partnered with the American Friends of Lafayette for the event. The library will present a talk “Lafayette and Human Rights” by Alan Hoffman in advance of the Farewell Tour visit on Wednesday, Aug. 28 at 6:30 p.m. The talk is free and open to the public but a reservation is requested in advance at tickettailor.com/events/hamptonfallsfreelibrary/1312889 .

How will Hampton welcome Lafayette?

Lafayette’s next stop will be at Hampton’s Meetinghouse Green. After his carriage rounds Founders Park to greet well-wishers, the Hampton Historical Society will present a Jubilee of Liberty celebration from 9:30 to 11 a.m. French coffee and pastries will be served. The New Hampshire Sons of the American Revolution Color Guard will again salute the Marquis. The event is free and open to the public.

Hampton’s celebration of this historic event has included a book exhibit at the Lane Memorial Library and a Lafayette exhibit at the Tuck Museum. On Sept. 18, the historical society and library will present "President John Adams" for an evening of history and entertainment which will include information about the friendship between Adams and Lafayette.

Greenland is Lafayette’s third Seacoast stop on Sept. 1

Greenland will welcome Lafayette at its Parade Common on Sunday. The Greenland Historical Society will present socializing, food and music at the gazebo beginning at noon. At 12:30 p.m., those gathered will process along Church Lane to near the Community Congregational Church. Lafayette should arrive about 12:50 p.m. accompanied by the New Hampshire Sons of the American Revolution Color Guard.

After being welcomed, Lafayette will walk to the steps of 480 Portsmouth Ave., which was operated as a tavern as early as 1675. In 1824, Lafayette stopped at the tavern during his Farewell Tour.

How will Portsmouth celebrate Lafayette?

Lafayette will arrive in his horse-drawn carriage at the John Langdon House on Pleasant Street in Portsmouth at 2:30 p.m. There’ll be welcoming speeches and Lafayette will speak at the pavilion behind the Langdon House. The New Hampshire Sons of the American Revolution will once again accompany him and give a three-gun salute.

Lafayette will then talk about his role in the American Revolution and take questions from those in attendance.

A banquet in his honor will be held at 5 p.m. at the Strawbery Banke Visitors Center where Lafayette will mingle with diners. Peter Reilly of the American Friends of Lafayette will give a talk entitled “Lafayette as Superhero: The Farewell Tour In Context.” Then toasts to Lafayette will be offered by those in attendance and there will be a prize for the person who gives the best toast. Tickets to the supper are $100 and include admission to three historic houses - the Langdon House, Warner House and the John Paul Jones House over the weekend. Reserve tickets in advance at friendsoflafayette.wildapricot.org/event-5792542 .

Who was the Marquis de Lafayette?

The Marquis de Lafayette was born Marie-Joseph-Paul-Yves-Roch-Gilbert du Motier in 1757 in the south of France, according to American Friends of Lafayette . Fighting the British during the Seven Years’ War , his father was killed in the line of duty in Germany when Lafayette was 2 years old. When he was 13, his mother died, and he decided to pursue a military education and career, joining the King’s Musketeers. Later that same year, he inherited his maternal grandfather’s fortune and became one of the wealthiest aristocrats in Europe.

He continued to pursue a military career and was on maneuvers in France when he met the Duke of Gloucester, the brother of King George III, who told him all about Britain’s struggle with America’s rebellious colonists. Inspired by the American revolutionaries and their fight for freedom, he decided to enlist as a volunteer in the American army. He was commissioned as a major general in the Continental Army at 19, serving with no pay and using his own wealth to finance some of the army’s efforts, including buying his own ship. He soon met George Washington, the army’s commander in chief, and they became lifelong friends. He was the youngest general to serve on either side of the Revolutionary War and he served until its end, was wounded in battle, and repeatedly performed key leadership roles, emerging as a hero. He went on to also become a hero of the French Revolution.

How long is Lafayette’s Farewell Tour Bicentennial?

The 2024 Farewell Tour began in New York City with a kickoff weekend Aug. 15-18. The tour will visit 24 states over 13 months and cover 6,000 miles, and has inspired hundreds of commemorative events. It will run through June 2025 when Lafayette will return to New Hampshire, just as he did during his tour 200 years ago. This second New Hampshire leg of the tour from June 21 to 28 will retrace his visits to the state’s southern towns from Salem to Concord and towns east and west of Concord from Dover to Claremont and Cornish. Lafayette’s official 2025 welcome will take place on June 22 in Concord.

You can listen to an audio and video trail of Lafayette’s Farewell Tour in New Hampshire (and anywhere he went in the U.S.) at lafayette200.org .  There you can also download the free TravelStorys app and drive the trail. With the app, audio, text, and images will launch as you approach each story site along the trail.

The 2024 Tour Championship , the final event of the FedEx Cup Playoffs , kicks off Thursday morning with the opening round at East Lake Golf Club in Atlanta, Ga. Here’s everything you need to know to watch the Tour Championship on Thursday, including full TV coverage, streaming info and Round 1 tee times.

How to watch Tour Championship on Thursday

There are only four rounds left to play to determine the 2024 FedEx Cup champion, and it all goes down this week at East Lake. Though East Lake has hosted the Tour Championship since 2004, it underwent a thorough restoration this year, which means golfers will be facing an unfamiliar test.

The two men on top of the standings heading in, Scottie Scheffler and Xander Schauffele , have great records at the longtime host course, but neither player has ever won the FedEx Cup. Should they do it this week, they’ll earn a record $25 million .

Xander Schauffele talks with coach at East Lake ahead of 2024 Tour Championship.

Why Xander Schauffele’s stellar East Lake record is worthless this week

Scheffler and Schauffele will share the final pairing in the opening round, teeing off at 2 p.m. ET.

PGA Tour Live on ESPN+ will provide exclusive streaming coverage, including featured group coverage starting at 11:15 a.m. ET, while Peacock will provide a simulcast of Golf Channel’s Thursday TV coverage.
