Nashua Youth Soccer League

nysl travel

In addition to the NYSL recreation program, NYSL offers a travel program (NYSL Travel).  NYSL Travel was started with a few principles in mind.

Opportunity Give invested young players an opportunity to play soccer at the next competitive level above recreational soccer and offer this opportunity with a cost as low as possible. Skills development Improve the overall skill level of players by training of our parent volunteer coaches, use of certified trainers, additional training and playing opportunities and a focus on player skills. We believe all players develop well working hard with proper drills and focus in an environment that supports development. Fun It sounds obvious, which might be why so many people forget. Pay-to-Play programs can get focused on revenue and many professional coaches can become focused on building their resume and creating revenue streams or coaching at higher levels. They have different needs and priorities. We prioritize making sure all of our players are having fun learning the game. Value

Expectations, season play, competitiveness, coaching staff.

For the dedicated coach, player, and parent, NYSL travel represents a fantastic low cost opportunity:

  • 2 included tournaments at no additional fee
  • Multiple practices a week
  • A standard 7 game regular season
  • Possible Scrimmage Matches with other area teams
  • Possible State Playoffs
  • Trained Coaches and Staff
  • Regularly available free training and player development

The registration fees for NYSL travel are higher than our recreational program and are used to pay the cost of tournament entry fees, league entry fees, certified trainers and coaches, equipment, and facilities (NYSL management is not paid).  However, they are still significantly cheaper than most club programs.

  • The spring program is a continuation of the fall program.
  • NYSL values commitment and consistency to practice more than inherent talent.
  • Due to the competitive nature of travel, coaches may choose to limit playing time of players that are not consistent.
  • Tournaments are usually  Memorial Day Weekend and  the First Weekend in Oct.
  • Expect to plan for 4 - 6 hours a week for practice and games.
  • Playoffs are normally scheduled for the first weekend in November and the first weekend before school ends in June.

Practices are held regularly, and players are expected to attend regularly.

  • Fall - mid August
  • Spring - mid March
  • In the winter
  • In the summer

Practice is run by coaches, and may be supplemented by Professional Trainers.

Additional, preseason practices, clinics, trainings, and other team development events may also occur.

The league year consists of both a Fall and Spring season. It is expected that players will play in both seasons.  Maintaining consistent teams throughout the season gives players a chance to gel and learn as a team together.

Travel teams will compete within the New Hampshire Soccer League (NHSL), under the New Hampshire Soccer Association (NHSA) and will follow the rules of US Youth Soccer, including calendar-year age divisions.

Each season will consist of 7 regular season games, playoffs for the competitive divisions, and a tournament.  Tournaments take place on Memorial Day and Early October.  Half of the regular season games are played in Nashua and half are away.  Playoffs are normally scheduled for the first weekend in November and the first weekend before school ends in June.

Most of our opponents are from nearby towns within an hour drive, but there is the potential to play against teams further away.

Tournaments are usually within an hour or so of Nashua and accessible in a day trip.

NYSL Travel operates in the New Hampshire Soccer League - https://soccernh.com/nh-soccer-league/ .

Teams will play other teams of like ability, closely gauged by coaches and travel directors.  Throughout the season, you may meet teams from NH Clubs, such as Hampshire United, as well as local towns, such as Bedford and Merrimack.

Teams are encouraged to work together to develop, while maintaining the fun atmosphere.  Again, NYSL believes good practice is not expensive, and a fun environment will encourage kids to develop further.  As teams develop, they are evaluated and changes are made between seasons.

Most lower age groups maintain 2 or 3 teams, operating at different division levels.  As players do not develop at the same pace, children may move between levels at coach's approval, so that every child has a place to play that fits their abilities.  Older age groups may only maintain a single team, depending on how many players are available.

In order for our travel teams to compete at the next competitive level, our coaches have earned licenses through U.S Youth Soccer and may supplement their practices with training from professional trainers.

General Information

You will see cost is a repeating element in the focus of our program. This program was founded on the idea that parents shouldn't need to pay $2,000.00 to $4,000.00 annually for their child to play soccer and develop skills. We read the literature and spoke with professionals to understand what was important to player development. It is about practice.

The more good practices a player has, the more they develop. Good practices require new ideas/skills to broaden a player's breadth of ability and repetition to develop muscle memory to execute skills on the field with the briefest of thoughts. Good practices require a good environment - teammates and coaches focused on getting the most out of each practice. Talented teammates who can challenge each other in practice to push each other to improve. Nothing about good practices requires money.

Due to the higher competitive level of the travel program compared to recreational soccer, players are evaluated during a try-out and assigned to a team based on skill level, attitude, and potential team chemistry. Unfortunately, not all players will be assigned to a travel team.   Chemistry and attitude can be more important than skill.

Good practices require a good environment and one bad attitude can upset a good environment. Players who make practices more difficult either with disruptive or disinterested attitudes may be asked to leave during or after a season. We do our best to make space for everyone we can. We encourage those players that are not assigned to a travel team to continue to participate with the rec program and take advantage of training sessions and clinics offered by NYSL.

Like all programs of NYSL, the travel program is run by volunteers.  If you are interested in assisting NYSL in the travel program, please reach out to Director of Travel and/or assistant Director of Travel.  They can be contacted via this website's Staff page.

INTERESTED IN BECOMING A SPONSOR

If you are interested in how to become a sponsor of the Merrimack Soccer Program, you can obtain our sponsorship packet by clicking the link below.

https://myasoccer.org/sponsors

The  Merrimack soccer program provides an opportunity for Merrimack youth,  ages 3 to 18, to play recreational and competitive soccer in an  environment designed to promote learning, teamwork, fun and the joy of  soccer.

Mission Statement

Merrimack Soccer Club (MSC) is a non-profit organization focused on player development through professional soccer training in a safe, healthy and affordable soccer program that is fun and rewarding for all.  MSC objectives are to teach and train soccer players and coaches, develop leadership qualities and to promote good sportsmanship among players, coaches and parents.  MSC will provide children with the opportunity to participate in soccer experiences where they can develop teamwork and sportsmanship, confidence, respect, fair play and their own development for future advancement in the game of soccer.

Recreational Program The  recreational program is a fall and spring season activity. The fall  program runs from September through early November. The spring program starts in mid April and runs through June. We offer coed divisions in the U4, U6, U8, U10, U13,  U16 and U19 age groups in both spring and fall.

Travel (Competitive) Program

The  Merrimack Soccer Club is a fall and spring season activity. The  MSC teams compete with nearby towns, private-clubs and regional teams  within the New Hampshire Soccer League as well as selected jamborees and tournaments throughout the  Fall and Spring seasons. The program is organized into boys and girls  (and sometimes coed) divisions based on age group: U8 through U18

Early Development Program (EDP)

This program is a cross between recreational and travel. These teams travel but no “standings or win/loss records” are kept by the league.

The EDP league is governed by the NHSA (NH Soccer Association) to which SYSA are members. The program was created in order to increase players’ exposure to the sport and to increase the level of competitiveness. There is an “evaluation” session for all players interested in playing EDP.

This session is at the end of the Spring season in preparation for the following Fall season. This is not a tryout but rather an opportunity for the league to understand the players enrolling in the program so we can best assess rosters, EDP divisions and overall number of players interested.

Teams will practice 2 nights per week with games on Saturdays.

Travel Program

travel soccer nh

What to expect at Tryouts

Coaches will run a series of exercises and small sided games to assess your child’s technical and tactical skills and will also consider their competitiveness, coachability, and commitment.

After tryouts occur, coaches will meet and determine the number of teams and rosters.

The VP of Travel will notify parents via email requesting registration for the upcoming season.

What if my child does not make a team?

travel soccer nh

Tournaments

Travel teams also have the opportunity to participate in tournaments throughout the year.

Participation is not required and is at the discretion of the coach. SYSA will work with teams that are interested in participating in a tournament to help offset the team fees.

As tournaments become available you can find more information about them here: events page

2 practices during the week. Length of practice varies based on age group.

1 match on the weekend.

Matches are typically scheduled for Saturdays, however this may change based on scheduling and inclement weather.

The Fall season begins at the end of August and concludes the last week of October. The Spring season begins in April and concludes at the end of May. The start of a season may vary due to weather conditions and holiday weekends. Both seasons are typically eight weeks long with playoffs and an additional two weeks for preseason season training.

Schedules are determined by the NHSL. Once the NHSL finalizes the schedule the VP of Travel will distribute the NHSL web link to each team.

If you have recently registered, the club may have yet to form teams for a given season. Once placed on a team the coach will reach out via email. If you’re concerned that you haven’t heard from a coach, please feel free to contact us .

MNSL TRAVEL SOCCER

Fall travel tryouts.

Who: U8 to U14

About MNSL Travel

Mission:  Our mission is simple.  Provide an outlet for competitive soccer in the states largest city at an affordable price.

More to come

Current recreational players interested in stepping their game up to the next level are highly encouraged to try out.  Travel Team coaches are actively searching for potential talent that have the ability to learn needed skills, have at least more of the fundamental skills required, and have the positive attitude needed for playing at the next level.

Travel Teams are for those players that want more than what is offered at the recreational team level.   Travel Teams are competitive, and the players are expected to step up to the challenge.   Player participation and output both at practice sessions and games at 100% are expected at this level by all members of the team.

Players who are interested but not quite sure are encouraged to sign up for training sessions and camps offered throughout the year off-season.   These training sessions (eg.; MNSL Travel Team Indoor Winter Training) are opened up to rec team members based on training slot availability and are an opportunity for players interested in the Travel Teams to “sample” the level of play, coaching, and expectations off-season.

Travel Teams play at various levels in New Hampshire Soccer League play with travel in-state and most games being in the Southern tier of the state. In the 2019 season Travel Teams will also include some tournament play, dependent upon age level.

Travel Team participation allows players to step up their game level without incurring costs that sometimes reach into the thousands of dollars per year. Travel Team play is very competitive price- wise, with a focus on developing players to that “next level.”

Players are expected give 100% at games including at practice! Players are encouraged and expected to practice and further develop their soccer skills as well as overall fitness outside of normal practice sessions several times per week. Conditioning, stamina, and ball control become daily activities for all team players, often as part of other sports they are active in such as track and field.

Coaches regularly provide guidance and recommendations regarding conditioning, overall fitness, solo ball control drills, etc. during practice sessions and in one on one discussions with players as required and based upon their needs. The emphasis is on player-development to the next level and the coaches recognize that this is based on the players current level of knowledge and mastery.

Travel Team players are those players that arrive at practice with their cleats on, shin guards in, ball in one hand and water bottle in the other-running onto the pitch and ready to practice hard!

Based out of Manchester’s Livingston Park facilities, the teams currently practice on pitches at Manchesters Livingston and Rimmon Parks.

Teams play competitive games during both the Fall and Spring Seasons and maintain training over the Winter at indoor facilities procured specifically to ensure team maintenance. Training sessions average 1.5 hours twice a week during the season, 1-hour per week off-season, and can be quite demanding for rec players.  Training frequency can increase/decrease depending on age level, weather conditions, and game tempo/scheduling and team development needs.

Recreational play or “Rec” leagues play is intended to provide players with basic soccer knowledge, develop and maintain interest, and provide a low stress environment to introduce youth to soccer.  Academy level play is designed to provide an outlet for extremely talented players to excel and fine tune skills.  Between Academy level and Rec leagues there is a very wide gap.

This gap, ideally, is filled with a level of play and development that provides an incubator for players that enjoy soccer but want to step their game up to a level that exceeds that of typical recreational level play.

About Our Club

The Seacoast United Soccer Club began with the simple objective of providing equal opportunities for players of all ages and abilities. The Club was initially formed in the Seacoast region of New Hampshire due to the rise in youth soccer. Over the years, the Club adopted a unique philosophy with an emphasis on providing an environment where players could learn the game and develop over time.

The Seacoast United Soccer Club in entering it's 31st year in 2023

one of the largest youth sports organizations in the New England region

Equal opportunities for players of all ages and abilities.

In addition to teaching players the fundamentals of the game, the Seacoast United Soccer Club has always made it a point to prepare players off the field just as much as it prepares players on the field. This approach has helped in growing the footprint of the Seacoast United Soccer Club significantly through numerous programs in New Hampshire, Maine, and Massachusetts.

Rye Boys 2011

Our Program

Rye Soccer participates in competitive soccer.

Competitive Soccer is differentiated from Recreational Soccer in that competitive teams play other teams within a league ( NNESL ).

Teams have a number of home games and travel to other towns to play, whereas Rye Recreation teams play intra-Rye teams, and do not travel.

Competitive also denotes that players are trained and developed as a team to compete. Scores, wins and losses, and penalties are recorded in the league and standings tracked.

Players are not guaranteed playing time. It is at the discretion of the coaches the amount of time and the positions of the players.

Upon joining Rye Soccer Association, players commit to their development and put their best effort forward. Respect for their coaches, peers, and opponents is expected and reason for dismissal, if a player does not demonstrate the appropriate behavior. Parents will be notified of the first incident. The league may suspend a player for the first incident or dismiss the player. A subsequent incident will be an immediate dismissal.  No refund will be issued on behavioral issues.

Attendance to practices and games is expected. If a player is unable to attend practices or games, the coaches need to be notified in advance. It is the coaches discretion if a player is excused from practice or games. By NNESL league rules, players are not allowed to play in the same league for two clubs. Players may be automatically dismissed if they violate league rules and a $500 fine will be passed on to the parent or guardian.

Ages 10 and above have playoffs at the end of the season and are considered based on their win/loss record.

Rye Soccer and the Referee(s) reserves the right to expel a parent or player including spectators at events, if their behavior or language is threatening or unbecoming. If necessary, the police will be notified.

In general, parents and their players maybe removed from the Rye Soccer Association at the discretion of the President, and/or Board of Directors.

Skill Level

Rye Soccer Association does evaluate players at the beginning of the season. If they are deemed not ready by the coaches, we will recommend that the player move back to recreation soccer and refund their registration fees.

Development

Rye Soccer Association has built a soccer development program for its participants. The program is designed to develop players throughout the summer and preseason to a competitive level. We strive to give youth soccer players key fundamentals of soccer on which they can build for years to come.

Rye Soccer is a volunteer-driven nonprofit. Because kids play from around 3rd grade to 8th grade, we always need new parents who are willing to help out and replace the parents who no longer have kids in the program.

Example opportunities

  • Coaching: if you played soccer at a high level, we’d love to hear from you!
  • Assistant coaching: soccer experience growing up and/or previous coaching experience is definitely a plus, but enthusiasm for kids is a must!
  • Team manager: help coaches coordinate snacks and carpooling, etc.
  • Help with fields (from reapplying lines to checking nets and field conditions, etc.)
