The 2024 UAE Tour is the longest of the three stage races held in the deserts of the Middle East, and the only one to hold UCI World Tour status. It consequently attracts the strongest field, which this year is packed with world class sprinters and also a few decent climbers.

Read on and we'll show you how to watch a 2024 UAE Tour live stream from anywhere with a VPN .

UAE Tour live streams will be available from February 19 – 25, 2024. ►  Time — Start times very each day. • U.S. — FloBikes •   U.K. — Discovery + • Watch anywhere — Try ExpressVPN 100% risk free

The second World Tour stage race of 2024 kicks off in the United Arab Emirates, and while there are a couple decent climbs on the route, it’s the sprinters who have turned up in force to battle it out on the desert roads. Nearly all the big name fast men are down to start from Dylan Groenewegen (Team Jayco AlUla), Fabio Jakobsen (Team dsm-firmenich PostNL) and Tim Merlier (Soudal Quick-Step) to Elia Viviani (INEOS Grenadiers) and the one and only Mark Cavendish (Astana Qazaqstan).

The race starts with a straightforward sprint stage but then the following day the overall classification will get a shake up with a 12km individual time trial. Following this, the first of the two mountain stages comes on stage three with the punishing finish up to Jebel Jais, by which time we will have a good idea who the real contenders are. The sprinters will then be back in action for stages 4, 5 and 6 with three opportunities to flex their giant legs before the finale, stage 7 up the now iconic climb of Jebel Hafeet.

The peloton will no doubt be looking forward to seven days of hard racing in perfect weather before they head to the harsher conditions of northern Europe and the spring classics.

The start of stage three was chaos as the bunch was ripped apart by crosswinds and it took a concerted effort by the teams of the leaders to bring everything back together before the final climb up Jebel Jais.

Stage six and the peloton’s speed increased slightly over the previous day but it was far from fast as for the third day in a row they rolled along the flat roads in the nice weather. Five riders went out on a futile break, never gained much time and were reeled in with 10 kilometres left.

Heading through the megapolis the speed picked up and it was that man Tim Merlier who triumphed again taking his third win of the race. That’s it for the sprinters though as tomorrow’s final stage finishes up Jebel Hafeet where after a three day hiatus the battle for the overall win will be decided.

Can Jay Vine hold on and take an impressive World Tour stage race win or will anyone else be able to upset the home team?

Watch a UAE Tour live stream from abroad

It's only natural that you might want to watch a 2024 UAE Tour live stream from your home country, but what if you're not there when the race is on?

Look no further than a VPN, or virtual private network. A VPN makes it look as if you're surfing the web from your home country, rather than the one you're in. That means you can access the streaming services you already pay for, from anywhere on planet Earth. Or anywhere that has an internet connection, at least.

They're totally legal, inexpensive and easy to use. We've tested lots of the best VPN services and our favorite right now is ExpressVPN . It's fast, works on loads of devices and even offers a 30-day money-back guarantee.

Using a VPN is incredibly simple.

1. Install the VPN of your choice . As we've said, ExpressVPN is our favorite.

2. Choose the location you wish to connect to in the VPN app. For instance if you're in the U.S. and want to view an Australian service, you'd select Australia from the list.

3. Sit back and enjoy the action. Head to Discovery+, for example, and enjoy the live stream.

ExpressVPN

Safety, speed and simplicity combine to make ExpressVPN our favorite VPN service. It's also compatible with loads of devices and there's a 30-day money-back guarantee if you want to try it out.

Who is the favorite?

Who is favorite to win the 2024 uae tour.

With neither last year’s winner Remco Evenepoel nor second placed Luke Plapp riding, the hot favourite for the GC this year will be the third placed rider from 2023, Adam Yates (UAE Team Emirates). Fresh from his victory in the Volta a la Comunitat Valenciana, Brandon McNulty (also UAE Team Emirates) will be riding to back up his teammate, and they will need strength in numbers if they are to fend off the likes of Ben O’Connor (Decathlon AG2R La Mondiale), Roman Bardet (Team dsm-firmenich PostNL), and young Belgian sensation Ilan van Wilder (Soudal Quick-Step).

Race schedule.

The 2022 WorldTour season officially begins this week with the UAE Tour kicking off the top-level season.

Last year's race saw Tadej Pogačar claim overall victory for home squad UAE Team Emirates after the COVID-19 disrupted race of the previous season which marked the beginning of the end of the 2020 spring calendar.

The Slovenian will once again be bidding for overall victory this year as he heads up a full-strength UAE lineup including 2021 third-place finisher João Almeida, climbers George Bennett and Rafał Majka, and sprinter Pascal Ackermann.

Cyclingnews will be bringing you full reports, results, news, interviews, and analysis throughout the race. Read on to find out how to watch the UAE Tour via live stream, no matter your location, with ExpressVPN .

Tadej Pogacar confirmed for UAE Tour after recovering from COVID-19 UAE Tour offers sprint showdown between Bennett, Cavendish, Viviani and Groenewegen Fernando Gaviria out of UAE Tour after third COVID-19 positive

Despite boasting the strongest team on the startlist, UAE Team Emirates will face some stern competition during the seven-day race.

Adam Yates , who beat Pogačar in 2020 before finishing second last year, will head up the Ineos Grenadiers selection which also includes time trial world champion Filippo Ganna and star sprinter Elia Viviani.

Over at Bora-Hansgrohe, Aleksandr Vlasov will look to continue his strong start to the season after winning the Volta a la Comunitat Valenciana. Jai Hindley also races, while sprinter Sam Bennett makes his second debut for the squad.

Pello Bilbao (Bahrain Victorious), Romain Bardet (Team DSM), David de la Cruz (Astana Qazaqstan), Tom Dumoulin (Jumbo-Visma), Fausto Masnada (QuickStep-AlphaVinyl), and Tour of Oman winner Jan Hirt (Intermarché-Wanty-Gobert) are among the other GC men lining up at the race.

Mark Cavendish (QuickStep-AlphaVinyl), Arnaud Démare (Groupama-FDJ), Jasper Philipsen (Alpecin-Fenix), and Dylan Groenewegen (BikeExchange-Jayco) will take on Viviani and Bennett among the lineup of top sprinters.

Four of the seven stages – 1, 2, 5 and 6 – will provide opportunities for those riders to battle it out on the flat. Stage 3 is a nine-kilometre time trial in Ajman, while stages 4 and 7 host the major climbing days on the summit finishes at Jebel Jais and Jebel Hafeet.

Read on for all the information on how to watch the 2022 UAE Tour .

Follow Cyclingnews on Twitter , Facebook and Instagram for alerts on important stories and action during the race.

The UAE Tour will be aired live in the UK and Europe on GCN+ , Eurosport Player and Discovery+ , with a subscription costing £6.99 for a single month, £4.99 for a year-long monthly pass, or £39.99 for a 12-month pass.

The race is also aired on GCN+ in North America, which is available for $8.99 per month, or with an annual subscription of $49.99.

Local live coverage will be provided via the Dubai Sports live stream. Elsewhere, Rai Sport will carry coverage of the race in Italy, and Sporza will show the race in Belgium.

The first WorldTour race of the years kicks off in the Middle East with the UAE Tour. After the cancellation of the Tour Down Under , this is the first chance to see a full smorgasbord of top-level talent in the peloton in 2021 - here's how you can live stream the 2021 UAE Tour.

Starting on Sunday (February 21) the seven-stage race will feature a host of star names, including Tour de France winner Tadej Pogačar (UAE Team Emirates), Mathieu van der Poel (Alpecin-Fenix), reigning champion Adam Yates (Ineos Grenadiers) as well as the sprinting talents of Sam Bennett (Deceuninck - Quick-Step), Caleb Ewan (Lotto-Soudal) and Elia Viviani (Cofidis). Meanwhile, Chris Froome will also be making his debut for Israel Start-Up Nation.

The race is used by most as a respite from the European winter and a chance to get some racing in the legs before the spring Classics.

Here’s how you can watch the racing in your country:

Access to the  GCN+  costs £39.99 a year, with a special launch offer of £19.99 for the year currently available.

Not at home for the UAE Tour 2021?  No worries – just  download and install a VPN  and choose your location to watch live as if you were back home. Full instructions below.

You may find access to your favourite home broadcaster is restricted by location. Luckily there is a way you can keep watching anyway – downloading and installing a VPN, which allows you to trick your computer into thinking it’s back at home. This allows you to find your native broadcaster coverage without having to resort to an illegal stream, as long as you stick to the terms and conditions set out by the broadcaster.

Setting up a VPN is simple – just download, install, open the app and select your location.

Try out ExpressVPN for its speed, security and simplicity to use. We also like that it’s compatible with so many devices and streaming services (e.g. Amazon Fire TV Stick, Apple TV, Xbox, PS4, etc).

There are other great options out there of course, but  Express VPN gives you the added benefit of a 30-day money-back guarantee and three months free with a yearly plan.

Hi. I'm Cycling Weekly's Weekend Editor. I like writing offbeat features and eating too much bread when working out on the road at bike races.

Before joining Cycling Weekly I worked at The Tab and I've also written for Vice, Time Out, and worked freelance for The Telegraph (I know, but I needed the money at the time so let me live).

I also worked for ITV Cycling between 2011-2018 on their Tour de France and Vuelta a España coverage. Sometimes I'd be helping the producers make the programme and other times I'd be getting the lunches. Just in case you were wondering - Phil Liggett and Paul Sherwen had the same ham sandwich every day, it was great.

How to watch the 2021 UAE Tour: Live stream the cycling event from anywhere

Screen Shot 2021 02 18 At 9.24.40 Am

The UAE Tour gets underway on Sunday, February 21 and will run through February 27. Not only has the race been a staple in the cycling world the last few years, but it hopes to be the start of a more steady and regular racing schedule that is now getting underway again after a rocky past year.

Fans and riders are ready to get back to a certain normalcy in the sport again and the UAE Tour looks to be the beginning of that. In 2020, the race came just as the COVID-19 outbreak was spreading around the world. Past winners and superstars alike are ready to compete in this premier Middle East cycling race.

Be sure to follow along as riders hit the five stages and journey through mountains and other desert terrain. It should prove to be exciting.

Using a VPN will likely be your best bet at being able to catch the UAE Tour. Some countries like Italy and Belgium do have places to stream the race, like on Rai Sport and Sporza respectively, but in general you'll want to make sure you have a good VPN option.

That's where one of the best VPNs (Virtual Private Network) can really come in handy. They allow you to virtually change the IP address of your laptop, tablet or mobile to one that's back in your home country which will let you watch as if you were back there.

VPNs are incredibly easy to use and have the added benefit of providing you with an additional layer of security when surfing the web. There are also a lot of options but we recommend ExpressVPN as our top pick due to its speed, security and ease of use. The service can even be used on a wide array of operating systems and devices (e.g. iOS, Android, Smart TVs, Fire TV Stick, Roku, game consoles, etc). Sign up for ExpressVPN now and enjoy a 49% discount and 3 months FREE with an annual subscription. You can even test it out for yourself thanks to the service's 30-day money back guarantee. Dubai's Olesen seeking strong finish to the DP World Tour season

Golf in uae, golf in uae uae.

The Dane returns to golf's Global Circuit after losing PGA Tour playing privileges

Thorbjørn Olesen

Dubai resident Thorbjørn Olesen returns to DP World Tour action this week at the Danish Golf Championship, where he is looking to take inspiration from compatriot Rasmus Højgaard.

This week’s start at Lübker Golf Resort marks Olesen’s first regular DP World Tour appearance since his emphatic win at the Ras Al Khaimah Championship, where he set season records for lowest score and biggest winning margin as he romped to a six-shot victory at 27 under.

With a return to regular DP World Tour action on the horizon, the 34-year-old is hoping he can emulate Højgaard, who became the first Dane to win the tournament on home soil last season, much to the delight of the large vociferous crowds.

"Since this tournament came on it's always been a great week for us, especially for us Danes coming back home to play," said Olesen.

"I think also for all the other players it's been a great tournament, there's always been lots of people and the set up has always been really, really good.

"It's always been, since it came on, a dream to win here. Rasmus last year was incredible and a great finish to see him doing it and I think we really needed it. We'd been close but no Dane had won it before Rasmus so it was great to see him win it last year."

While Olesen is only playing his fourth regular DP World Tour event of the season, that’s not to say he hasn’t been busy with events around the world.

In fact, the eight-time DP World Tour winner has been playing predominantly on the PGA Tour after securing his playing privileges last season, while also featuring in three Major Championships, a Rolex Series event and the Olympic Games.

Olesen didn’t do enough in his limited PGA Tour starts to retain his card for next season, but is hopeful a return to familiar surroundings, coupled with his Olympics experience, will help set him up for a strong finish to the season on golf’s Global Circuit.

"I played in 16 in Brazil but this one was just incredible, the atmosphere that was there on the golf course reminded me of the Ryder Cup - it was so good," he said.

"Obviously you want to try to win a medal and we came up short of that, but it was a fantastic week and it showed golf in a different perspective and I think that's really good for the sport, overall it was an incredible week.

"I've been over there (PGA TOUR) most of this year but I'm happy to come back here to the DP World Tour, I love playing here and I'm going to be playing here the rest of this year and hopefully try and get that card back, that would be great.

"I've missed it a little bit for sure and I'm excited to play all these events in Europe with so many great weeks coming up."

The GC field reads like a who's who of the biggest names in cycling, with Yates's primary competition likely to come from 22-year-old Tour de France champion Tadej Pogačar, who's under extra pressure to deliver, seeing as he's riding for UAE Team Emirates in their home race.

There's another debutant in the field in Israel Start-Up Nation's Chris Froome, and there'll be plenty of eyes on the likes of Mathieu van der Poel, Vincenzo Nibali, Rigoberto Uran, Tour de la Provence winner Iván Sosa and 40-year-old Alejandro Valverde too.

The UAE Tour has a reputation for being a sprinter's race, and this year's edition will be no different, incorporating four flat stages (Stages 1, 4, 6 and 7). Some of the star speed merchants in the field include Caleb Ewan, Sam Bennett, Pascal Ackermann, Giacomo Nizzolo and Fernando Gaviria, which makes for a fascinating spectacle.

Sprint stages aside, there are also two mountain stages (Stages 3 and 5) and an individual time trial (Stage 2). Read on for everything you need to know to watch a UAE Tour live stream from anywhere in the world right now.

Stage 1: Al Dhafra Castle – Al Mirfa (151 KM) The stage of the desert. Starting from Al Dhafra Castle in the desert, the route reaches Madinat Zayed along wide and straight roads. After the city it crosses the desert again for over 60 km, heading toward the coast pointing directly towards Al Mirfa. Here is where the route enters the final circuit of about 18 km, to be repeated once.

Last kms The final circuit is on a wide well-paved road and features some turnarounds on large roundabouts and a short climb immediately after the passages on the finish line. The finish line is on asphalt 8m wide.

Stage 2: Khalifa Port – Khalifa Port TTT (17.2 KM) Stage 2 is a Team Time Trial that takes place entirely inside Khalifa Port. The route is very fast and is characterized only by a few right angle bends and two U-turns. Last kms Wide curves, wide road, excellent pavement. The finish line is on asphalt

Stage 3: Umbrella Beach Al Fujairah – Jebel Jais (185 KM) The first of two mountain stages of the UAE Tour. The stage is divided into two distinct parts. Departing from Fujairah and crossing the desert areas on the edge of the Hajar mountains, it then heads towards Ras-al-Khaimah, whose capital is not crossed by the ride. The stage then heads directly towards Jais Mountain. The final climb of approximately 20 km at constant 5% gradient, with slightly higher gradients around 7% in the last 2 km.

Last kms The final climb winds through hairpin bends on a very wide roadway. Gradients are mainly around 4-5% in the first part and 5-7% in the second, with a peak of 9% around 2 km from the finish. The finish is on straight asphalt roads.

Stage 4: Al Shindagha – Dubai Harbour (174 KM) A stage in Dubai. Departing from Shindagha, the first part of the stage is on the edge of the city before entering the desert and touching on classic stopover locations such as Al Qudra Cycle track and Expo City Dubai. It then arrives at the Palm Jumeirah, on Crescent Rd, before returning to the base of the Palm and Dubai Harbour. The entire route winds along very wide, and substantially straight, roads interspersed with roundabouts that have a very large radius and are well paved.

Last kms The ending is on a wide avenue, with the arrival to the finish line on asphalt.

Stage 5: Al Marjan Island – Umm al Quwain (182 KM) Departing from Marjan Island to reach Ras al Khaimah, the stage heads through the desert southwards with some deviations from the motorway. Here it covers several stretches of motorway until reaching Umm al Quwain for the final sprint. The entire route takes place on wide, straight and well-paved roads through the desert.

Last kms The final km is on a wide avenue that is slightly curved. The arrival to the finish line is on asphalt.

Stage 6: Warner Bros. World Abu Dhabi – Abu Dhabi Breakwater (166 KM) Stage around the city of Abu Dhabi. Departing from Warner Bros Island in Yas Island, the first part of the stage heads north. Continuing towards Khalifa Port it then returns south and heads back to the town through Khalifa City. Returning to Abu Dhabi via the highway and via Maqta Bridge, brushing past the Grand Mosque until reaching Al Khaleej Al Arabi St. Here the substantially straight road, lasting 15 km, leads to the Abu Dhabi Breakwater for a sprint finish.

Last kms The last 5 km are on a wide road with large semi-curves that lead to the finish line on asphalt.

Stage 7: Hazza Bin Zayed Stadium – Jebel Hafeet (153 KM) The classic mountain stage of the UAE Tour. In the first part, the traditional long ride in the desert north of the city is covered. The route then winds through Al Ain, where many symbolic landmarks are touched (Al Ain Zoo, Al Qattara, Al Hili) until it returns to Green Mubazzarah. Here the final climb of Jebel Hafeet begins, which with its 10 km section will be the final judge of the race.

Last kms The final climb winds through wide-ranging hairpin bends on a 3-lane roadway. Gradients are mainly around 8-9% with a peak of 11%, 3 km from the finish. There is a very short descent in the last km, before the last ramp. The finish line is on straight asphalt.

Over the seven stages across the varied terrain that passes historical landmarks of the region, the race is shaped by four sprint stages, two climbing stages and a team trial providing riders with different characteristics the opportunity to win.

UAE Team Emirates sanctioned for 'non-compliant' jersey at Vuelta a España team presentation

S even of the eight UAE Team Emirates riders at the Vuelta a España have been fined 500 Swiss Francs and docked 15 UCI points apiece for wearing an unauthorised jersey during the team presentation in Lisbon on Thursday.

Jay Vine, who missed the presentation, is the only UAE rider to avoid the sanction, which was announced by the race jury in the communiqué published after stage 1 on Saturday evening. Directeur sportif Marco Marcato was also fined 500 Swiss Francs.

The communiqué stated that the UAE riders had been sanctioned for "Non-compliant clothing during team presentations. (Not autorhized jersey by UCI) [sic]."

UAE Team Emirates took to the podium at the team presentation on Thursday evening wearing a special edition kit with pink and yellow details on the chest and sleeves to mark Tadej Pogačar’s Giro d’Italia-Tour de France double.

Pogačar opted against attempting a Grand Tour treble at the Vuelta, preferring to focus on building towards the World Championships road race in Zürich on September 29 .

Despite Pogačar’s absence, UAE Team Emirates have a strong chance of completing a sweep of Grand Tour victories this season, thus emulating Jumbo-Visma’s feat of a year ago.

João Almeida and Adam Yates – who placed fourth and sixth overall, respectively, at the Tour – lead the UAE Team Emirates line-up at the Vuelta, where the exciting neo-professional Isaac del Toro also lines up for his Grand Tour debut.

And although their team presentation jerseys didn’t pass muster with the commissaires, UAE Team Emirates claimed the most important garment of all on stage 1, as Brandon McNulty proved quickest on the time trial course to Oeiras to take possession of the maillot rojo .

McNulty sets out from Cascais on stage 2 with a lead of two seconds on Mathias Vacek (Lidl-Trek) and three on dangerman Wout van Aert (Visma-Lease a Bike).
