2014 beyonce tour

Jay Z  and  Beyoncé  have officially announced details of their  co-headlining stadium tour . Dubbed “On the Run”, the 16-city outing stretches from late June through early August. The docket includes stops at massive venues such as MetLife Stadium in E. Rutherford, NJ, Soldier Field in Chicago, and Rose Bowl in Los Angeles. Check out the full itinerary below.

Tickets will go on-sale beginning Friday, May 2nd through LiveNation. Fan pre-sales will precede the general on-sale on Wednesday, April 30th. A portion of every ticket will be donated to the Shawn Carter Foundation.

Jay Z and Beyoncé have guested at each other’s shows on numerous occasions, but have never before co-headlined a concert. Erotica, glamour, swagger, street cred, and finally, a peek at marriage and family bliss all came together during Beyonce and Jay Z’s “On the Run” tour, which opened in Miami’s Sun Life Stadium last night (June 25). It was over two hours of tightly choreographed showmanship that was timed to the second, alternating between the pair’s solo history, their collaborative hits and by duet versions of hits both have originally recorded with others.

Jay Z & Beyonce “On The Run”: Opening Night in Miami Photos

The sheer volume of material, coupled with the cinematic theme (more on that later) and Beyoncé’s jaw-dropping wardrobe changes made for a highly entertaining and impressive show that went from the glamorous to the profane.

But it was also a rather detached show. Yes, there was more than enough of Mr. and Mrs. Carter to satisfy the crowd here; those on the floor level, at least, never sat down and sang or rapped along to every single song, not missing even a beat of Jay’s raps. And these two enjoy the privilege of being some of the few acts that seem to appeal equally to male and female fans.

But despite the obvious adulation, the lines between performers and audience were very sharply delineated and both Jay and Beyoncé’s were careful to adhere to script and procedure every step of the way.

If there was no room for error, there wasn’t room either for spontaneity or audience interaction in this very finely tuned performance where one song bled seamlessly into the other, with brief musical interludes or snippets of film serving as transitions.

The idea was to create an atmosphere and tell a story.

“On The Run,” the tour, is inspired on the theme and aesthetic seen on the tour “film” trailer (with cameos by the likes of Sean Penn), which features the Carters in “Bonnie and Clyde” mode, firing semi automatics (although last night little signs of “not real guns” appeared constantly on screen) and executing multi-million dollar heists with attitude and high fashion sense.

The live show follows the same storyline of the couple on the run, kicking off with black and white scenes from the film, playing in a gigantic center screen flanked by two other giant screens that allowed the audience in the humongous Sun Life Center to view Jay and Beyonce up close and personal throughout.

Jay Z & Beyonce at Sun Life Stadium

Not surprisingly, given the film theme, the opening track was “03 Bonnie and Clyde.” But don’t expect that more down and dirty feel of the original 2002 Jay-Z video featuring Beyonce.  Everything about “On the Run” is amped up and glammed up, beginning with Beyonce, who looked fabulous in a mesh leotard with a mesh hoodie over her face, and backed by a jaw-dropping eight-dancer troupe.“03 Bonnie and Clyde” then cleverly segued into “Crazy In Love” (originally by Beyoncé feat. Jay Z from the same time period). Then, the subtlest of interludes sung by Beyoncé served to cede the stage to Jay Z with “Tom Ford.”

Alternating in the sparse, almost industrial-looking stage, Beyoncé and Jay-Z proceeded to take us on a journey of fashion, high-level performance and music, always returning to the central theme of love—challenged, perhaps, but finally standing strong.

And it was all about the Carters. There were no guest acts and no visible band, save for a rare appearance here or there from an instrument or back-up singer. Jay-Z managed to power through his arsenal of hits—from “Ni**as in Paris” to “Clique” to “99 Problems” and “It’s a Hard Knock Life”–forcefully and alone, without any props except the screen behind him. Beyoncé, meanwhile, made every one of her songs a visual experience, each featuring new outfits (what an impressive array of leotards and catsuits that woman has!) and choreography.

The high points, unsurprisingly, were the duets, particularly “Holy Grail” and the ending “Young Forever,” and songs like “Haunted,” where Beyoncé allowed herself to be alone onstage, truly showcasing not only her vocal prowess but her ability to connect as a singer and not just as a striking personality.

There were also stabs at feminism and female empowering messages, including brand new“Pretty Hurts,” which deals with society’s demands on the way women look and what women are willing to do to achieve those demands. But, given the way Beyoncé looks and her status as a sex symbol, this is a difficult message to get across in this particular setting.

It all built up to a grand finale which, surprisingly wasn’t all about guns and death as with the original Bonnie and Clyde, but love and family.

“We celebrate love tonight,” said Jay-Z as he embraced his wife onstage, squashing any of the tabloid notions of break-up that have circulated lately. Then, the couple sang the rousing “Young Forever” before turning their backs to the audience to sing at the screen, which showed images of family life centering on the newest addition, daughter “Blue Ivy,” who they serenaded with “Halo.”

Clearly the idea was to show the real Mr. and Mrs. Carter. But of course, we know that they aren’t like you or me.

Everything to Know About Beyoncé’s Renaissance Tour

Atlantis The Royal Grand Reveal Weekend 2023 - Beyonce Performance

B eyoncé’s fans have been waiting for this day: the pop megastar finally announced that she will embark on the long-awaited Renaissance World Tour. She uploaded a post to Instagram early Wednesday morning with the caption: “RENAISSANCE WORLD TOUR 2023,” and her official website has been updated to show the tour dates. The tour starts in May in Sweden and will hit Belgium, the United Kingdom, France, Spain, Denmark, the Netherlands, and Poland, before she makes her way to North America. The first date stateside will be in Philadelphia, Pa., in July and the tour will hit the major U.S. cities before wrapping up in New Orleans, La., on Sept. 27.

View this post on Instagram A post shared by Beyoncé (@beyonce)

Following the release of her seventh album, Renaissance , in July, fans have been itching for a tour announcement, in addition to music videos to accompany the songs. Beyoncé’s last solo tour was the Formation World Tour back in 2016 to support her sixth album, Lemonade . Following that, she went on the On The Run Tour with her husband, Jay-Z, in 2018 after releasing their joint project, Everything Is Love . The announcement of a new tour just before the Grammy Awards on Sunday raises suspicion that Beyoncé might be performing or, at the very least, attending the night’s festivities.

The singer is nominated for nine Grammys at this year’s awards ceremony, which are set to take place on Feb. 5 in Los Angeles. This year, she is up against Adele for multiple awards, including Album of the Year, Song of the Year, and Record of the Year. There has been speculation about whether or not Beyoncé would be performing ever since the nominations were announced. The last time fans saw her perform on a major televised stage was at last year’s Oscars ceremony, where she performed “Be Alive” from the King Richard movie for the first time.

Read More: 6 Takeaways from Beyoncé’s New Album Renaissance

Beyoncé most recently took the stage for a private concert at the opening of the Atlantis The Royal resort in Dubai in January. However, she did not perform any songs from Renaissance . Also, given that Beyoncé unveiled the album’s title on Instagram as “act [one],” her dedicated fanbase has been busy theorizing what acts two and three might be. Some have hypothesized that the tour would be act two and then a concert movie would be act three. Others have ventured to guess that this is a three-part album and that Renaissance was just the beginning.

Tickets for the concert will not be an easy get if Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour is any indication. Beyoncé’s fans can click on the date they would like to attend to register for Ticketmaster’s Verified Fan program and will then have to wait to see if they are given an access code to purchase tickets to the event. With Verified Fan and the “unexpected” traffic the pre-sale brought to the site, many Swifties likened the ticket-buying process to a warzone. The disastrous rollout drew ire from Swift’s fans and political officials alike. After the ticketing fiasco, the Senate held a hearing to look into whether Live Nation and Ticketmaster have a monopoly over the ticketing industry. This, coupled with the technical problems that Swift fans faced, have Beyoncé fans worrying that finding their way to an actual concert will be nothing short of an ordeal.

Why Beyoncé’s ‘Renaissance’ Tour Is a Stadium-Shaking Triumph

By Brian Hiatt

Brian Hiatt

Beyoncé ‘s Renaissance tour , a stadium-shaking dance party built around last year’s album of the same name , won’t begin its U.S. run until a July 12 show in Philadelphia, but thanks to TikTok and YouTube, stateside fans already have a decent sense of the show. It begins with Beyoncé essentially serving as her own opening act via a mini set of ballads before exploding into a show built around the Renaissance album, with songs from her previous albums worked in among the new hits (or in some cases, as with a taste of “Sweet Dreams” in “Alien Superstar,” during them).

Miley cyrus sued over ‘flowers,’ accused of copying bruno mars song, perry farrell apologizes after jane's addiction cancel tour: 'my breaking point resulted in inexcusable behavior', sean combs offers private plane, mansion, kids' passports in bail plea.

In the episode, Brittany Spanos joins host Brian Hiatt to discuss the discourse around and experience of the tour on TikTok and elsewhere, while Daily Telegraph music critic Neil McCormick — who just gave five stars to Beyoncé’s performance in the Welsh capital of Cardiff — offers a firsthand look at the tour. “Beyoncé has spent 25 years doing what she does at an incredibly high level and always trying to up up the ante,” says McCormick. “This is Beyoncé showing who’s the queen, and it’s at the top level of where a show has ever, ever been.”

Beyoncé's favorite things: 9 places star has stopped before in Houston

KTRK logo

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- Beyoncé brings her Renaissance tour to her hometown on Saturday and Sunday at NRG Stadium, but it's possible the venue won't be the only opportunity for a Bey sighting.

If you won't be able to punch your ticket to the chrome-filled fest that has seen fans show up in their best bedazzled looks at the singer's request , you might see if your energy is better spent swinging by some of the spots Mrs.Knowles-Carter has been known to frequent for a chance to get a glimpse of her.

Of course, there's no guarantee that Beyoncé will make an appearance at these places, but members of the Beyhive can at least see what it's like to eat and play like a queen for a day.

Frenchy's

You could stop here for a pre-show meal, taking full comfort in knowing that Beyoncé is a fan. She posed for a photo under the fried chicken restaurant's sign in 2017, but the love for the famous fowl was noted before that.

The multi-Grammy Award winner name-dropped Frenchy's in her "I Been On Remix" from 2013. While Frenchy's has multiple locations, your best bet is likely the restaurant on Scott Street in Third Ward, where she grew up.

B &B Butchers

Beef, bellinis, brunch. These were just some of the items that have been on the menu for stops that included Bey, mom Tina, Jay-Z, and their daughter Blue Ivy (though the youngest in the clan didn't imbibe in the bellinis, surely) at B &B Butchers Restaurant, run by another B: Ben Berg.

Our partners at CultureMap offer these details in case you need more than the aforementioned food and beverage to whet your appetite.

They "grazed through a field of appetizers that included crispy calamari & peppers, carpet bagger on the half shell, and Wagyu carpaccio," wrote CultureMap in 2016, adding that the family enjoyed créme brulé, cheesecake and sorbet for dessert.

It's also reported that Beyoncé's team picked up seafood for the star, steaks and kobe beef to grill at home.

Another reported benefit to going to this jaunt? The privacy the "Break My Soul" artist enjoys, so it may be wise to dine carefully. If things feel a little too quiet, you could always add some spice with that hot sauce in your bag swag.

Hank's

After days of record heat, fans might be ready to close the door on their hot girl summer. And yes, that was a reference to another Houston hottie, Megan Thee Stallion, who collaborated with Beyoncé on the "Savage Remix."

Cool off at Hank's Ice Cream on S. Main, which is less than 10 minutes from NRG Stadium, if you're plotting a sweet trip on show day.

Hank's has served up treats since 1985 and Beyoncé is among the Houstonians who has stopped in for a taste.

Where else would you find fresh flavors of homemade ice cream like sweet potato pie, cinnamon and banana, eggnog, and peppermint?

A pro tip: Be sure to check out the Wall of Fame, where you'll find Bey's signature and that of other celebs.

The video above is a profile from ABC13 Localish on Hank's Ice Cream.

Breakfast Klub

For a Beyoncé-approved breakfast, swing by this spot on Travis Street in Midtown. It was featured as one of the singer's favorites in Essence magazine in 2019.

But be warned that you'll want to get there early. The line easily wraps around the block.

The restaurant has long received national and critical acclaim for dishes such as its chicken and waffles, cheese grits and other Southern delights.

According to Visit Houston, Beyoncé stopped at the restaurant, owned by entrepeneur Marcus Davis, in 2010 and 2013.

When you've slayed all night on stage, you've got to refuel. That's exactly what Beyoncé did when she stopped by BB's on Upper Kirby in 2016 after her show at NRG Stadium. Could history repeat itself?

Like previous visits to our H-Town staples, her family was also in tow.

Visit Houston notes that she has dined at the Montrose location as well.

If you've lived in Houston any amount of time, or if you're new here (Howdy, neighbors!), you'll quickly learn that there are a variety of Pappas restaurants around town. The establishments are known for offering everything from barbecue to steaks, and in this case, Queen B has let everyone know she's tried at least two types on her plate.

"I love Cajun seafood at Pappadeaux," she told British Vogue a few years ago.

She's also said to have gone to Pappasito's Cantina, which offers Tex-Mex, in 2013.

Max's Wine Dive

Is Beyoncé a fan of karaoke? Are you?

The second question might be easier to answer, but if you at least want to be in a spot that can make you feel like you're in the limelight with a jukebox at your side, this dive might be the place to go. Fellow foodies might be so blown away by your vocals, you might look around and find everybody on mute.

The Ivy Park founder took hubby Jay-Z and family here in 2014, Visit Houston says. And even if you don't grab a bite to eat or pass the mic, is it safe to say perhaps we had you at wine?

You're probably feeling stuffed just from reading this list, so here's a chance to burn some calories with a trip to the Menil Collection nestled in Houston's Museum District on Sul Ross Street.

Sasha Fierce as Beyoncé was once called stopped here with mom Tina and sister Solange.

But even when she's not in town, the Menil, which is always free, is worth a visit. You'll find art in the main building, designed by Italian architect Renzo Piano, from prehistoric times to present day.

Time to throw on those skates. If you've always wanted to star in your own music video, it might be easier to have a friend shoot it with their phone rather than hire a whole film crew, but at least you can say you set it against the same backdrop as Yoncé.

The entertainment complex on Beechnut served as the location for the singer's "Blow" video, where several details about the location, from the roller rink's walls to the block glass by the lockers, the disco ball and even the rentals, can be seen.

But turning to Funplex wasn't just for the cameras.

Bey and Co. also pulled up for the afterparty following her and Jay-Z's show at Minute Maid Park during their first-ever joint tour, "On the Run."

Honorable mention:

You shouldn't expect to walk through the doors here, but you could consider taking photo at the place that started it all, Music World Entertainment headquarters on Hadley Street.

The company itself was launched by Beyoncé's dad, Mathew Knowles. Before she left for the lights, satisfaction and action of Hollywood, as she crooned on her album "B-Day," Beyoncé was part of Destiny's Child, who was on the MWE label. The rest, of course, is history.

Still, could we see a DC revival?

A visit to destinyschild.com seems to offer a glimmer of hope, though the hints are indeed few.

The webpage has little information except for the words "Destiny's Child" at the top, "25 years," and "New website coming soon," while a loop of a performance featuring Bey and former bandmates Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams plays in the background.

However, eagle-eyed fans will see a copyright for Music World Entertainment at the bottom.

And should there be a reunion of any kind during Bey's Houston shows, you can bet Destiny's Child faithful will ring the alarm.
