1. Alaska Cruise Parking at Canada Place

There is a 2-level parkade at Canada Place for both short term and long term cruise parking. The rates are:

2. Vancouver Hotels with Cruise Parking

There are many Vancouver hotels with cruise parking for before / after Alaska cruise packages that include parking and transfer by shuttle or taxi to the cruise ship terminal.

Pan Pacific Hotel – Parking services available for guests visiting Canada Place.

They have Valet parking with in & out privileges for Hotel Guests ($ 35.01 per night, including taxes) Hourly, short term and long term, cruise ship long term parking is also available. Parking Charges you each time your vehicle exits the parking garage.(no in/out privileges)

Daytime: $ 3.75 per 1/2 hour to a max. of $ 23.00 from 6am- 6pm Evening: $ 3.75 per 1/2 hour to a max. of $ 8.00 up to 6 am 24 Hour: $ 30.00 max.for a 24 hour period

Parking at Vancouver Cruise Terminal

Vancouver’s Cruise Ship terminal is right in the middle of downtown. Which is great for access and walkability but may provide some parking challenges. This post has everything you need to know about parking at Vancouver cruise terminal including rates, rules and nearby cheap parking options.

The long term parking at the Vancouver cruise terminal is in Canada Place. It has very recently (mid August 2022) changed management companies so some parking things have changed. It has been taken over by Indigo.

Canada Place and the Indigo parking facility is located at the North end of Howe Street at Canada Place and is accessible 24 hours per day from the Canada Place entrance. 

Canada Place is not just Vancouver cruise port parking. It is a mixed-use facility. It is used by the Vancouver Convention and Exhibition Centre East, the Pan Pacific Hotel, Port Metro Vancouver Cruise Ship Terminal, Fly Over Canada (one of the best things to do in Vancouver I might add), and the World Trade Centre Office Complex.

Vancouver Cruise Terminal Parking Fees

The Vancouver cruise terminal parking fees are in the image below. For a 7 day cruise we paid $247 after all of the taxes.

Short-term Rates for Canada Place Cruise Parking (including taxes): $4.00 each half-hour or portion $23.00 day maximum (6am – 6pm) $9.00 evening maximum (6pm – 6am) $32.00 daily maximum (6am – 6am) $55.00 to park until noon next day

The short term rates obviously would not apply to those of us taking a cruise, but if you were having someone come to meet you who wanted to park, this is what it would cost to park at Canada Place.

The Vancouver cruise ship terminal parking can be reserved in advance. It is probably easiest on the Indigo App.

Important things to Note about Crusie Parking Vancouver:

VANCOUVER CRUISE SHIP TERMINAL PARKING ADDRESS: 999 Canada Place Vancouver, BC V6C 3E1

OVERSIZE VEHICLES: The Canada place Parking lot does not fit oversized vehicles. The Max height for vehicles using the lot is 6’9″

Note that the cruise ship passenger disembarkation pickup point is in the Canada Place parking lot. If you are going to pick up passengers, make sure you are not overweight or you will not be able to get into the lot. There is nowhere to pull over and pick up passengers on the street. There is hotel valet and taxi stopping only.

Where To Stay Near Cruise Ship Parking

If you are driving in the night before your cruise, there are several hotels that are close by. The closest is the Pan Pacific . If you want some other choices, check out the best hotels near the Vancouver cruise ship port. I suggest you park your car in the Canada Place cruise terminal parking and pick a hotel nearby!

Has anyone parked at Canada Place and prepaid and reserved a spot.  When I google Canada Place it comes up Indigo.com but then when you click on reserve a spot it takes me to WestPark Canada Place.  Just making sure they are the same and it's the website for the parking garage at Canada Place.

Something has gone wrong @flpenguin - Indigo do operate the lot at the actual pier and Westpark became Indigo in the last year or so, so if anything you should expect to click on an old Westpark link and get bumpred to Indigo but not the other way around!

However, parking at Canada Place cannot be done online - you have to call them. It's specifically this lot (034) , at 999 Canada Place. The contact number and email address is on that page, and booking in advance attracts a hefty extra charge $32 per day instead of $23.48 if you risk just driving up).

They will let you book the lot under the Pacific Rim hotel online for $23.48 per day - that's the same distance as the other convention centre parking, opposite side of the road, both are barely over 100 yards extra walk if you want to save a few bucks. The larger West side of the conv centre ( 1055 Canada Place ) has parking run by Impark - if memory serves they charge $24 per day, but might offer longer-term discounts for a week+

Another option is parking at the long-term lot at the airport. We parked there for 2 weeks last month and took the train into downtown Vancouver for the cruise. The station was just a few blocks from Canada Place and about half of the cost of parking downtown.

I certainly hope that I'm wrong and that link does still work out JD, as it would be much more convenient for OP and others who want to park at the pier - there are a few weird elements on the pages, like email addresses using the old Westpark domain, but hopefully that's just some sloppy recoding after the Westpark>Indigo changeover...

I think you posted elsewhere that you were driving up for a cruise soon, so please do come back & let us know if the reso worked smoothly for you - I'll bookmark that site if so, as the main Indigo site still pops 'online booking not available' for the Canada Place location when I checked it just now, so there's definitely some sort of 'left hand not knowing what the right hand is doing' thing going on.

I used that link to make my reservation last week, so hopefully it should still work.  🙂  My initial email confirmation came from  WestPark Canada Place , but a follow-up email came from  INDIGO (CA) - VAN - Canada Place , so they're still tweaking the name change in various places.

They've changed the instructions, though. We used to have to scan the confirmation barcode on entry and exit. Now, it says "  Effective August 15, 2022, you will no longer need to scan your bar code when arriving or departing." So I guess they're just going to manually check license plate# to see that parked cars have already paid...?

Many parking lots in Vancouver have moved away from gates and attendants.  Hard to find staff these days.  

They usually have vehicles with cameras that they will drive up and down the lanes.  The computer checks the plates against the database.

I parked at Canada Place for 7 days in June.  Booked ahead of time.  Unfortunately, the code on my confirmation didn't work when I was leaving.  Finally, an employee came along and fixed things.

Oh that reminded me of one issue with the online booking: it isn't obvious when you make your reservation that you should set  time  as well as date. I just chose the arrival and departure dates and booked it, then I noticed that my confirmation charged 8 days instead of 7. I had to revise the reservation to set appropriate times on each date, otherwise it assumed a full 24 hours on each date.

What I'm doing is staying the night before the cruise at the Radisson on Cambie, using their 15-day parking rate.  That's because I'm doing a B2B so I'll be on the ship two weeks.  And I prefer driving up the day before rather than taking a chance on good traffic with no holdups anywhere on I-5 on the morning of the cruise.  So it's working out best for me at just about $510 USD for the two weeks.  Plus the Radisson is just a couple of steps from the Aberdeen SkyTrain (Canada Line route) station. 

In the past I've always taken the Amtrak Cascades for cruises departing from Vancouver but they won't have that train up and running 'til the end of the cruise season.

You might want to consider parking at the long term lot (Templeton) at YVR.  It is less than half of the cost   of parking at the Radissson.  You need to book in advance and discounts are available if you are a AAA member.  The Skytrain station at right there as well.  Check out the YVR website parking.

Thanks, already knew that.  I had actually signed up and paid for 2-week parking at YVR before booking the Radisson.  However, I was still going to drive up the day before for reasons that I had already stated.  So an overnight booking at a hotel near YVR plus the parking came out to be about the same $$.  Therefore I opted for the Radisson deal because it was less driving around.  Just easier parking at same place I was staying. 

But thanks again for your suggestion.  Anytime you locals suggest anything to help out-of-towners it is appreciated and potentially helpful.

A woman who was raised by an aunt and uncle, apart from her younger sisters, has won a legal fight to change their father’s will after she was denied an equal share of his estate.

When Tat Kuan Cheong died three years ago, he left $17,500 to Celina Kan, his oldest biological daughter, whom he referred to in his will as his niece, the same amount he left to his half sister and less than the $20,000 he left to a goddaughter. The remaining $683,000 was divided equally between daughters Ina and Sophia Cheong, it said.

A court can vary a will if a will-maker doesn’t adequately provide for a spouse or children, according to B.C.’s Wills, Estates and Succession Act.

A judge has the discretion based on moral norms to ensure the deceased reasonably fulfilled obligations based on “contemporary community standards,” Justice Lisa Warren wrote in siding with Kan.

The story began when Kan was four. She was taken from the family home in Macau to live in Hong Kong with her well-off aunt and uncle, a childless couple who raised her as their daughter even though they didn’t adopt her, according to the judge’s ruling.

While Kan lived in a prestigious Hong Kong neighbourhood in a spacious house with plumbing, hot water and air-conditioning, attended private school and had stylish clothes and lots of toys, her sisters shared a two-bedroom Hong Kong apartment without flush toilets, hot water, a fridge or TV, with as many as seven or eight relatives, the reasons said. Ina Cheong shared a bed with several cousins and food was sometimes scarce, it said.

Kan feared her uncle because he had assaulted his wife and she was “traumatized and confused by having been ‘given away’ as a young child,” the ruling said.

When she was 18, she moved to Toronto and supported herself through university.

Other family members, including her sisters, came to Canada after her, but Kan and Ina Cheong had a falling out and didn’t see each other until this trial, 50 years later, and she and Sophia Cheong never connected, the judge wrote.

Tat Kuan and his second wife moved to Canada in 1990 and lived in Richmond until they died, buying a house with what Sophia Cheong said was her financial assistance, although that wasn’t proven, the judgment said.

Kan maintained a close relationship with the aunt who raised her and wasn’t close with her father, not as the other two daughters were, it said.

After Tat Kuan died in April 2021, Kan wasn’t informed about the funeral.

After she was left out of her father’s will, Kan sought a three-way division of the estate. The sisters argued she was adequately provided for in the will.

Warren wrote that all witnesses were credible, with the exception of Ina Cheong, who “displayed intense animosity toward Celina” without reasonable justification.

In setting out legal principles of the case, she wrote there may be “just cause” for someone to disinherit an adult child but unless a strong reason is given in the will for an unequal division, adult children should share equally in a parent’s estate.

Those reasons could relate to the size of the estate, the standard of living of the will-maker and the child, gifts made outside the will, expectations of the child and “misconduct or poor character of the claimant,” she said. None had a bearing on this case, she wrote.

Kan’s “relationship with Tat Kuan was permanently damaged by his decision to relinquish his parental role in her life when she was young. … (It) caused her immense emotional pain that has remained throughout her life,” even though he was a kind man and told Kan he did it so she could have a better life.

Her sisters’ childhood perceptions that she was privileged, caused “deep resentment” in them.

The sisters’ rejection of her and her emotional suffering from being given up by her father likely inhibited her from trying to have a closer relationship with Tat Kuan.

“She cannot be faulted for this,” Warren wrote.

She concluded: Kan’s “moral claim is a strong one and it is not negated by valid and rational reasons. I have no difficulty concluding that Tat Kuan failed to make adequate provision for Celina.”

Warren said she was mindful of interfering with Tat Kuan’s wishes but noted he “made the will without the benefit of legal advice about his moral obligation” to Kan.
