  11. Trek 1.1 vs. 1.5

I've done a little bit of research and stopped by my LBS and I've basically narrowed it down to either the '13 Trek 1.1 or the '13 Trek 1.5. The 1.1 would cost me $670, while the 1.5 is on sale and would be $900 (marked down from $1240). The 2.1 is $1300 and probably out of my price range at the minute. So basically, is it worth the extra $230 ...

  15. Thoughts on the Trek 1.1? : r/cycling

It's a wonderful entry level road bike, my friends have had 1.1s, 1.2s and the older versions too. I don't know what "narrow gear range" you're referring to, the bike has a compact 50/34t crankset (the best for recreational riders) and an 11-28t cassette, pretty standard.

  20. HELP: Trek 1.1 or 2.1?

    R. rickyh Discussion starter. 5 posts · Joined 2011. #1 · Apr 25, 2011. HELP. This will be my first road bike. I have a good LBS and they are very helpful with my mountain bike stuff and I am now looking at getting into road riding. I have narrowed the choices down to a 2010 Trek 1.1 for $650 or a 2011 Trek 2.1 for $1,250.

  21. New to road cycling, upgrades to Trek 1.1?

As for upgrades, consider tires and possibly wheels. The OEM tires and wheels on the 1.1 are heavy, which means slower acceleration among other things. And if you ever decide to get a new bike, you can always put your "upgrade" tires and wheels on the new bike and put the 1.1 back to stock.

  23. trek 1.1 upgrades needed

I bought a Trek 1.2 (paid $700 for in July 2009) and have since upgraded with the following: Wheelset: $350. Tires: $90. Pedals: $100. Shimano 105 groupset: $500. If I had it to do over, I probably would have sold the 1.2 and bought a 2.1 or 2.3 equivalent from a bikesdirect, pricepoint, or some similar value retailer.
