Europe tour with kesari.

The Europe trip was always in our minds as a wishlist but it took more than 10 years to execute. When the right time arrived, my wife and I started planning for the same. There were many questions like should we go on our own or through a tour operator, should it be a customized trip or a group tour etc. We spent a lot of time researching for whatever information available so that we can make a decision. Finally we decided to go on a group tour with Kesari Tours. In this post, I’ll share the information on what to expect in a group tour and how was our experience with Kesari and of course on the places we visited. As far as places are concerned, I’ll try to share more pictures with less description. I hope this will provide enough information for anyone who is looking for a similar tour.

The first thing we wanted to decide was - whether to go on our own or through a tour operator. If we have to go on our own, we have to do a lot of planning - for places, tickets, commute, hotels, restaurants etc. Since we have never been to Europe, everything was new and to add to it - the languages are different. Considering these aspects, we decided to go with a tour operator.

The next decision was - which tour operator. We considered Kesari Tours, SOTC, and a few more. We went through a lot of reviews available on various sites. Of course there were both positive and negative reviews for each of these operators. Out of these, Kesari had more positive feedback. To add to it, my cousin and his wife had gone to Europe through Kesari. They provided detailed and valuable information about Kesari tours and their experience. These helped us in taking a decision to go with Kesari Tours.

Like any other operator, Kesari has a variety of tours - varies on places covered and duration. You need to pick the one suits best. Every tour is published on their website with a complete itinerary. I strongly suggest going through the itinerary to get the feeling of how tight/ free the tour will be. This is an important factor before you decide to choose a tour. I’ll explain further below why this is important. We chose a 12-days package which is called “P7 - Images of Europe economy”. This package covers western parts of Europe.

Kesari takes care of everything. We only need to visit their office a few times and of course visit the visa office twice (one for UK visa and the second time for Schengen visa). Kesari takes care of flight booking, visa appointment, local transport in Europe, monuments tickets, local guide (wherever required), hotels booking, restaurant booking for lunch and dinner, sticking to the time (itinerary) and of course most importantly a tour manager who will be with us all the time.

Itinerary - 12 days for Europe means it covers some major places across multiple countries (9-10 countries in our case). As I mentioned before, we went through the itinerary in detail. We also calculated driving distance between cities to understand the amount of road travel. This helped us a lot to get the expectation clear on travel. The tour manager sticks to the itinerary.

This group tour is not for you:

  • If you are looking for a relaxed tour
  • If you are looking for a flexible itinerary
  • If you can’t do a lot of walking (on an average we did 11,500 steps daily with 18,500 steps the highest in Rome)

Timings - Kesari follows what they call the 6-7-8 pattern. Get up at 6 am, breakfast at 7 and then start your day at 8. Normally, we’ll be back to Hotel by 7ish and then have dinner at 8 pm. We do get sufficient time for sleep and that’s very important. We made sure that we get at least 7 hours of sleep, so that we’ll be fresh for next day sight-seeing.

Places - All the places were covered as per itinerary. In a few places, we felt the time given was not sufficient. In other places such as the Leaning tower of Pisa, Colosseum etc we had enough time. Of course, this “enough” time is very subjective. What I consider as enough may not be enough for someone else. In a group tour, this factor needs to be considered. In fact, when we went for a tour in Sikkim, it was a customized tour package exclusively made for us. We had liberty to stay in a particular place for as much time as we wanted. We will not have this luxury in the group tour. Also, we went to Europe in September. It turns out, the crowd in Sep was less compared to months like April, May and June. This also matters. The more crowd, the longer the queue in places like Eiffel Tower etc.

Extra Places - The tour manager provided an option to visit additional places (which were not there in itinerary) with whatever actual cost. We chose the Seine river cruise in Paris, Paris by night and Vatican city.

Shopping - Time was given for shopping in specific places. For instance, we got time in a Cuckoo factory in Germany, Lucerne (Switzerland), Swarovski crystal world in Austria, Venice (Italy), and Rome (Italy). In other places like Pisa and Paris, we had very limited time. Our first preference was sight-seeing and then shopping. So we planned our time accordingly.

Food - We got Indian food for lunch and dinner, so there is no problem here (except that we got maida made roti which was not good to eat continuously for 12 days). However, we get enough to fill up our stomach. As for breakfast, we got English breakfast in London and Continental breakfast in other places which primarily includes bread, croissant, cereals, fruits and coffee. For non-vegetarians, there are a few more options. Only in Switzerland, we got South Indian breakfast because the hotel where we stayed had an Indian restaurant. We also carried MTR ready to eat dishes such as Upma, Avalakki uppittu, Shavige bath, Bisibele bath which were very handy for us when we got bored of eating continental breakfast.

Commute - A bus was arranged to travel in Europe. Only from London to Paris we traveled by Eurostar train and the rest was by bus. The bus driver is called Captain and he/she will help in loading/unloading the luggage from the bus. The roads are very good so you don’t feel tired during road travel. The seats will be allotted on a first come first serve basis, so one needs to sit in the allotted seat only.

Hotels - The hotels booked were good. Every hotel had lifts so as long as you have wheeled luggages you can carry your luggage without much problem. There are no helpers in hotels, so we need to carry our luggages from the bus to the rooms and vice-versa.

Washrooms - The tour manager stopped the bus for loo breaks. He tried to stop wherever we could use toilets for free. In only a few places, we had to pay 1 Euro per head to use the toilet.

Drinking water - We can use hotel tap water for drinking. So we don’t need to worry about drinking water. We just need to carry bottles and fill up wherever possible.

Group - It’s a group tour. In our case, we had 18 families (approx 36 people). As the tour progressed, we got to know each other and we also had some fun activities in the bus.

Tour Manager - An important factor in the trip is the tour manager. He’ll be our guide and caretaker for the entire tour. Luckily we got Mr. Raj Salvi as our tour manager. He’s one of the most experienced people in this field and he managed very well. He talked about the places we are visiting, it’s historical importance, do’s and don’ts during the trip, extra caution to be taken care especially in France and Italy (to be careful from pickpockets), making sure that trip is happening on time, coordinating with hotels and restaurants to ensure food is ready by the time we reach the place, coordinating with bus driver for timely pickup and drop, and a lot more. This is the person who ensures that we have a smooth travel experience.

Complimentary Items - Kesari provides complimentary items for each traveler such as Universal Adaptor, Shoulder bag, passport pouch, cap, stroller, wet issue paper, electric kettle, poncho and snacks hamper. Only adapter and poncho are per family and the rest is for each person. The snacks hamper includes a variety of snacks (sweets, salty and spicy). These snacks come handy when we are traveling from one country to another, or whenever we feel hungry.

Overall we had a wonderful experience with Kesari tours and we thoroughly enjoyed this trip. We cherish this experience for a long time, for sure. We express our sincere thanks to the team Kesari (specifically Ms Steffi from Sales team, Mr Vinod from Visa team and Ms Divya from Airline booking team), and Mr. Raj for his excellent guidance and help during entire trip. Do we prefer Kesari for any future tour? Yes, if we have to go for a group tour!

I go there!

Best Time to Visit Europe:

Choosing the right time for your trip beforehand will assist you in selecting the most suitable option out of the available Europe tour packages from India.  Best Time to Visit Europe  is during the summer and it lasts from June to August . The weather during this time is just perfect for sightseeing and all the different activities that you want to undertake. Since the weather is sunny and warm, there are a number of cultural festivals and galas that are slotted for this time and many people go on a Europe tour specifically for these events. However, do remember that Europe has several countries and they won’t have the same weather at the same time. Summer in Europe might be the best time to visit but it’s also one of the most crowded times as well. There will often be throngs of tourists in popular cities like Amsterdam, Berlin and of course Paris during this time. Apart from the crowds, the other drawback is that you won’t be able to get tickets for events and tourist attractions unless you book in advance. Everything – from travel to stay – will cost more, so it’s a good idea to book your tickets, hotel and even car rentals ahead of time. You can find multiple Europe tour packages on our website for the summer months. However, Europe during the off-season has its own charms as well. Apart from the obvious advantages of cheaper flights and accommodation, there are fewer crowds too. This season is usually from April to June and September to November. However, the downside could be that there might be inclement weather and you have to be ready for it. Also, if you don’t mind cold weather, then you can even travel to Europe during the winter. After all, who doesn’t enjoy the snow and skiing among other things? However, several attractions are closed during winter, so you have to check carefully before making plans. Make sure to look for Europe tour packages for winter if you intend to go on a Europe vacation on a budget.

How to Reach Europe

The best way to reach Europe is by flight , especially if you’re travelling from India. There are direct flights from several major Indian cities such as Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad to popular destinations in Europe such as Rome, Paris, London, Berlin and Amsterdam to name a few. However, do note that there are no direct flights to countries like Denmark or Sweden. But there are numerous connecting flights that you can take which have a small stopover in Middle Eastern countries. Since summer is peak season in Europe, it’s a good idea to book your flight tickets well in advance.Once you’re in Europe, you can choose to fly to different countries on local carriers like Ryan Air or Easy Jet, but these offer the basic minimum which might not be the best when it comes to travelling in comfort or with luggage. Thanks to our exciting range of Europe tour packages, you don’t have to worry about booking flights as many of our planned trips come with the inclusion of flights as a standard feature. Besides, there are also Europe tour packages that feature optional flights, which gives you more room to make the correct pick. Another excellent option is to travel around by car, and you can visit multiple countries even in a rental car. However, you must have a license to drive in Europe. One of the best ways to get around the different countries in Europe however is by train. The Eurail connects 28 countries and offers scenic routes which are quite unforgettable. Another option is to travel by bus which is also cheaper than train travel. Bus travel is quite comfy too and most bus companies offer Wi-Fi services which make travel easier.

With forty-four countries in Europe, each having something fantastic to offer visitors, it can get quite difficult to choose where you want to go. Nevertheless, here are some of the best  places in Europe , that you look for in the Europe tour packages from India to get the most out of your tour experience;

Spain , switzerland, netherlands.

Apart from Paris, other must-see places here include Normandy, Versailles and the glamorous Riviera. France is the hub for all things beautiful and should certainly be on your list of places to see in Europe. You can browse through our selection of Europe tour packages designed for a memorable vacation in France.

Located in Western Europe, Germany is simply par excellence when it comes to lush landscapes, forests, mountains, rivers and whatnot. If beer is your thing, then you should definitely visit Munich for the famed Oktoberfest while Frankfurt with its awe-inspiring skyscrapers has its own charms. If you want to do some hiking or skiing, then the Alps are spectacular and perfect, making this an obvious reason why you should visit the country. Our professionally planned Europe tour packages for Germany ensure that you get to enjoy your dream vacation without the need to worry about all the nitty-gritty of planning a trip.

Italy is yet another unmissable country in Europe, filled with beauty and delight. Spain is yet another renowned country that you can add to the itinerary of your Europe tour. It's loud, boisterous, vibrant and filled with visual delights such as the Royal Palace in Madrid and gorgeous structures in Barcelona. But what strikes one here the most is the intense love for food and the deep culinary culture that is a part of the country. There’s more to Spanish food than paella but it perfectly encapsulates the richness of the cuisine and well, since it’s also the home of sangria, there’s much to celebrate here. Famous Foods in Europe

Food is the common unifier that brings people together and with its diversity of cultures and countries, Europe indeed has the best to offer. There’s something here for every taste and some of it is even quite iconic. It would be quite difficult to list the ones that would symbolise European food because of the sheer variety that’s available throughout the continent. Here are some of the popular dishes that you can expect to taste while travelling in Europe.

Waffles and Strudels

The unmistakeable delight of biting into a warm strudel, flaky and buttery, filled with raisins and topped with whipped cream is something that has to be experienced at least once in a lifetime. And although waffles are now popular all over the world, try the ones in Belgium and you’ll know the delicious difference.

It’s impossible to visit Europe and not indulge in cheese especially as so much of it is made here. Whether it is the halloumi cheese from Cyprus or the famed skyr from Iceland or fondue from Switzerland, cheese lovers will have much to rejoice in Europe.

Croissants from France, rye bread from Estonia, bread dumplings from the Czech Republic, pretzels from Germany and juicy gyros from Greece are just some of the few ways in which you can enjoy this staple in Europe. Of course, let’s not forget pizza from Naples or cinnamon rolls from Sweden.

Things to Do in Europe

Europe is filled with several things to do and you may feel short changed if you miss out on some of these iconic activities. Even though several tour packages include most of these activities, there are some which you must try to make time for, because they will make your experience unforgettable.

Visit the Ars Electronica Centre in Austria

Check out the santa claus village in finland, enjoy bathing in the krka national park, go on a cruise on the thames , soar across the sky in a hot air balloon, don’t miss out on the northern lights.

Popularly known as the Museum of the Future, this is one of the places that’s perfect for tech lovers or even those who have a scientific bent of mind . The CAVE (Cave Automatic Visual Environment) is the kind of virtual reality that will have your senses spinning and make you feel like you’ve stepped out of the world into another one altogether. It is a must-try activity that many people add to the itinerary of their Europe tours and travels.

While it seems straight out of a storybook, it’s completely true. There’s a Santa Claus village in Finland which actually receives all the letters from children all over the world. Rovaniemi, or the Santa Claus Village is actually just ten minutes away from the Arctic Circle and you can even visit his reindeer and go on a sleigh ride in the snow! With our Europe tour packages from India, you can focus on enjoying your trip instead of worrying about meals, accommodations, sightseeing and other trip essentials.

The water in the lakes in the Krka National Park in Croatia is crystal clear and a brilliant shade of turquoise. It’s perfect for a cool and refreshing dip during the day and you will see plenty of families here, enjoying the deliciously cold water and having fun. Individuals on their Europe tours and travels love to engage in this activity.

It can’t get more English than this. A cruise on the Thames that takes you past global landmarks while you sip tea in the elegant cruise ship is just perfect and an activity that you must not miss if possible. It is a common inclusion in many Europe tours and travels featuring the UK.

France’s Dordogne Valley is stunningly beautiful but what makes it even better is if you can get to fly on a hot air balloon over the valley. The sights as you float across the sky and look down below are simply out of this world. Enjoy similar thrilling activities on your tour with the Europe tour packages from India offered by Thomas Cook.

While on your Europe tours and travels, make sure to not miss out on the Northern Lights in Reykjavik, Iceland. From September to April, it’s possible to see these beautiful landscapes in the sky and you will feel every single moment of wonder keenly.

Finding London’s Most Distinctive Shops

Sure, you can hit Harrods. But the British capital also has small specialized shops, some centuries old and still crafting items by hand. Here, a selection of singular shopping experiences.

An old-looking low brick building with a fence outside is seen straight on between two taller brick buildings.

By Alexander Wooley

A bottle of gin, a Paddington bear or a wicker picnic hamper full of jam and scones — these are just a few of the purchases the 20 million international travelers pick up while visiting London each year, often at famous British retailers like Harrods and Fortnum & Mason.

But scattered across London are also small, specialized shops, some centuries old and crafting items by hand, that sell unique wares in spots full of wonder. These retailers are the favorites of politicians, celebrities and royalty — some display royal crests on windows and packaging, a sign that they have received royal warrants from the monarchy — and each has a story to tell of humble beginnings, of perseverance through fires and wars, pandemics and fickle tastes.

Here’s a selection of some of the most eccentric — or at least, distinctive.

HATS and caps

Lock & Co. Hatters

6 St. James’s Street

Founded in 1676, Lock & Co. is the oldest shop in London and the world’s oldest hat shop. Holding numerous royal warrants over the centuries, and currently a newly issued one from King Charles III, it has been at No. 6 St. James’s Street since 1759, when it moved across the road because the light was better. It’s a tall, narrow townhouse one might easily walk past. Winston Churchill is seen wearing its Cambridge and homburg hats in World War II photos; Adm. Horatio Nelson was wearing a Lock bicorn when he died at the Battle of Trafalgar in 1805. The Mad Hatter is reputedly based on a Lock salesman — Lewis Carroll was a customer. More recently, the actors Gary Oldman and Bill Nighy have been said to insist on Lock hats for film roles.

Lock is perhaps most famous for having invented the quintessential English hat, the bowler. Commissioned by the Earl of Leicester, who wanted a hard hat for gamekeepers at his country estate, the bowler became de rigueur for laborers and railway workers before it became synonymous with London bankers. If you’re purchasing a bowler or another hat with a rigid construction, like a top hat, the salespeople still measure your head with a “conformateur,” an egg-shaped, brass device lined with keys that was invented in France in the 1850s.

These days caps like the newsboy and bakerboy, which range in price from 125 to 375 British pounds, or $164 to $490, are Lock’s best sellers. The shop also sells linen and cashmere baseball caps.

WINE and spirits

Berry Bros. & Rudd

3 St. James’s Street

Berry Bros. & Rudd, selling wine and spirits, occupies three adjacent spaces on St. James’s Street and Pall Mall. Founded by “the Widow Bourne” as a grocery in 1698, initially it supplied local coffeehouses, so the sign over the door remains a coffee mill. Another relic from BB&R’s earlier incarnation is a set of scales: 200 years ago, when to know one’s weight meant going to a doctor and paying a fee, BB&R installed a seat on the scales and it became a London entertainment to weigh yourself there and enter the result in a ledger — the ledgers, as well as the scales, are available for viewing.

Today, French wines dominate the shelves, but Italians are growing in popularity. While BB&R sells rare vintage bottles that can cost tens of thousands of pounds, there are wines as inexpensive as £12. What brings customers back is the selection — there are two acres of cellars underneath the shop — and the expert customer service. In the world, there are only 417 people who hold Master of Wine certifications , which require at least three years of study, and BB&R employs three. Customers often visit when they are considering starting their own wine collections and want advice. These days, visitors can also join one of the in-store, twice-monthly wine tastings; details on the website.

SHOES AND BOOTS

9 St. James’s Street

A pungent smell of rich leather hits the customer entering John Lobb, a family-owned bespoke shoemaker. The atmosphere is studious, serious. Legend has it that a lame Cornish farm boy named John Lobb, after being rejected by all of the major London shoemakers, set himself up in a tent in rural Australia to cater to gold rush prospectors. In 1863 he sent the Prince of Wales (the future King Edward VII) a pair of riding boots that were of such quality, he was awarded a royal warrant. (It is a mystery as to how he knew the prince’s feet dimensions.) These days, plum carpets and upholstery and dark wooden cabinetry are juxtaposed with open workshops where master craftspeople are at work. There are no factory-made shoes at Lobb, and no one gets a free ride — the three fifth-generation Lobb brothers who run the shop today each had to go through several years of apprenticeship to learn how to make a pair of shoes, shadowing Lobb specialists who carry titles like the Clicker, the Pattern Cutter and the Closer. One of these is the Last-Maker, a “last” being a precise wooden model of the customer’s feet.

Lobb has a display case of lasts from famous past clients, like Duke Ellington. Often customers come in with a precise idea of the design of the shoe they have in mind, and Lobb sets out to execute it. The whole process takes up to eight months for a first-time customer. A pair of shoes can cost £3,800 pounds, boots nearly £23,000.

letterpress Stationery

Marby and Elm

53 Exmouth Market

Over in buzzy Exmouth Market, Marby and Elm is cheeky, whimsical and barely a decade old. It started off in a garden shed, which “got too full, too inky,” said Eleanor Tattersfield, the owner-designer. Ms. Tattersfield moved the shop, named for her two sons, in 2017 to its current fluorescent pink location, where it serves as a handmade card-and-stationery shop and workshop. Top sellers include a “Victorian brothel candle” packaged in a dusky brown glass holder embossed with Victorian script and priced at £35, produced in conjunction with an English candle maker. Cards — all handmade in limited runs — carry messages like “You’re my Roman Empire” and “Of course I bloody love you.” Cards range from £5 to £9.

Though the shop may be new — at least compared with John Lobb and Lock & Co. — Ms. Tattersfield employs a manual typewriter as well as two manual letterpress machines, including a century-old Adana flatbed, that use lead-and-wood letters.

“I’m working in an analog world,” she said. During the pandemic she sent out postcards asking for the public’s lockdown secrets. She used some of their 4,000 responses to write a book, “ Lockdown Secrets ” (£13), that includes verbatim reproductions of the cards.

culinary tools

Blenheim Forge

Arch 228-229, Blenheim Grove

Under a Victorian-era railway arch beneath the graffiti-sprayed Peckham Rye train station, Blenheim Forge creates high-end kitchen blades for Gordon Ramsay, Nancy Silverton and other top chefs of the world. It’s a combination of retail shop and noisy blacksmith, where knives are forged by hand from sheets of laminated steel imported from Japan.

Two of the partners behind Blenheim Forge, James Ross-Harris and Rich Warner, have engineering degrees. According to Mr. Ross-Harris, he and Mr. Warner started making knives about 10 years ago when they were “messing about,” one weekend. (A third partner, Jonathan Warshawsky, dropped out of a philosophy Ph.D. program to make knives.) Now, limited releases of a new knife design often sell out within a day, and a 26-set piece can set you back £34,000.

The wood for the handles — walnut, hornbeam, bog oak — all comes from fallen trees in royal parks or on public lands. To source the wood, Blenheim works with a nearby timber nonprofit, London Reclaimed , that employs teens and adults who have dropped out of the education system.

“I think most people are blown away when they visit us, when they see the amount of work that goes into making a knife,” Mr. Ross-Harris said.

Paxton & Whitfield

93 Jermyn Street, Westminster

Begun in 1742 as a cheese stall in a London market, Paxton & Whitfield received its first royal warrant from Queen Victoria in 1850. It now has four locations, including one in Westminster.

The street sign on this shop dates from the 1890s, and the store frontage is a rich black and gold. A bright and modern interior has battlements of stacked full wheels of cheese that separate customers and staff — the latter can advise on putting together a cheese board, and will not let customers buy their wares without first having a sample.

Most of the cheeses are aged, turned and rubbed in oil inside five maturing rooms Paxton’s has in Bourton-on-the-Water in the Cotswold Hills. The blue-veined Stilton (£34 a kilo) is Paxton’s top seller — Winston Churchill enjoyed it when he used to frequent the shop — but there are also gems like the Sparkenhoe Red Leicester (£42 a kilo); new varieties like the ewe’s milk Cullum (£52 a kilo, and named for the original market stall founder, Stephen Cullum); and a coffee-matured cheese called Kaldi (£62 a kilo). Kaldi, the result of a collaboration with Rave Coffee, is brine-washed goat’s cheese coated with a finely ground coffee for a spicelike texture.

John Sandoe Books

10-12 Blacklands Terrace, Chelsea

Occupying three connected 18th-century cottages on Blacklands Terrace is John Sandoe. The narrow street is just off the main drag from the expensive chain shops that took over Chelsea once the borough became cool.

The shop has the biggest poetry section of any bookshop in London, and its décor is well-trodden Persian rugs, fresh-cut flowers in vases, window seats and narrow staircases that feel as if one is ascending a lighthouse.

John Sandoe has relationships with some 150 small publishers in addition to the major players, but many of the new books on display have come from customer suggestions. Current staff members review books for major British media, while former bookshop employees started Cuckoo Press , which each year in the run-up to Christmas produces a long-form pamphlet, suggesting mostly new short stories by writers like Muriel Spark, William Boyd and Juliet Nicolson. The year-end gifts are offered to longstanding customers, the likes of which include Elton John and Rupert Everett.

A decade ago, on its own initiative, the bookshop printed the Italian writer Elena Ferrante’s novel “My Brilliant Friend.” The book was published as a result of an unsolicited letter Sandoe shop owners sent to Ms. Ferrante through her publisher, Europa Editions, before she had become world famous. The mysterious Ms. Ferrante also ended up signing the books — they’re believed to be the only signed Ferrantes in the world. They quickly sold out, but the shop kept two.

MLB's travel plans for '24: Seoul, Mexico City, London, D.R.

David Adler

The MLB World Tour is coming to four international destinations in 2024: London, Mexico City, Seoul and Santo Domingo.

The Seoul Series will be the opener of the 2024 MLB regular season -- and will mark the first MLB regular-season games ever played in Korea.

Major League Baseball and the MLB Players Association announced the full plans for the four series on Wednesday.

• Seoul Series: Dodgers vs. Padres, March 20-21 (MLB season opener) • Mexico City Series: Astros vs. Rockies, April 27-28 • London Series: Mets vs. Phillies, June 8-9 • Dominican Republic Series: Red Sox vs. Rays, March 9-10 (Spring Training)

• MLB international

"Major League Baseball is incredibly excited for this extensive slate of international games in 2024," Commissioner Rob Manfred said. "Our recent efforts have produced strong enthusiasm around the globe, and we look forward to building on that foundation with returns to Mexico City and London, while also opening the season in Korea for the first time. In addition, we can’t wait to celebrate the tradition of the sport in the Dominican Republic with our visit to Santo Domingo next March. We are thrilled that our fans across four different countries outside the United States and Canada will have the opportunity to see the game’s stars."

The MLB World Tour schedule for next year includes the return of games to the United Kingdom and Mexico for a second consecutive season, after the 2023 London Series between the Cubs and Cardinals and Mexico City Series between the Giants and Padres, in addition to new stops in Korea and the Dominican Republic.

“Players have a deep interest in growing baseball around the world. No matter where they come from, players are linked by a passion for our game that transcends different languages, cultures, and nationalities,” said Tony Clark, the executive director of the MLB Players Association. “The series announced today will allow fans around the globe to gain a first-hand appreciation for the unmatched skill and infectious enthusiasm players display every time they go to work. We are excited to expand our international presence in new communities and celebrate the game we all love.”

Here's a look at each of the four international series in 2024.

Seoul Series

The Dodgers and Padres will open up the 2024 season with two games in Korea from March 20-21.

The Seoul Series will mark the ninth time that the MLB season has opened outside the 50 U.S. states and Canada, and the first time in five years. Previous international openers include:

• 1999 -- Monterrey, Mexico (Rockies vs. Padres) • 2000 -- Tokyo, Japan (Mets vs. Cubs) • 2001 -- San Juan, Puerto Rico (Rangers vs. Blue Jays) • 2004 -- Tokyo, Japan (Rays vs. Yankees) • 2008 -- Tokyo, Japan (Red Sox vs. A's) • 2012 -- Tokyo, Japan (A's vs. Mariners) • 2014 -- Sydney, Australia (Dodgers vs. D-backs) • 2019 -- Tokyo, Japan (A's vs. Mariners)

It will be the Dodgers' first international games since they played the Padres in Mexico in 2018, and their second Opening Day abroad after the 2014 season opener in Australia.

"The Dodgers have a long and proud history of helping to grow the game abroad, highlighted by our trips to Mexico, China and Australia. It's very exciting to add Korea to the list," Dodgers president Stan Kasten said. "I know our players are thrilled to put their talents on display in a country so rich with baseball tradition and talent, including former Dodgers Chan Ho Park, Hee-Seop Choi and Hyun Jin Ryu."

The Padres will be playing internationally for a second straight season, but in a new country, going from the 2023 Mexico City Series to the 2024 Seoul Series. Like the Dodgers, they've also played abroad on Opening Day before, in the inaugural international season opener back in 1999.

"Korea is a great baseball country with a rich tradition, passionate fans, and talented players, including current Padre and San Diego fan favorite Ha-Seong Kim," Padres CEO Erik Greupner said. "The Padres are proud to serve alongside the Dodgers as global ambassadors for the game of baseball with our historic 2024 Korea Series."

Mexico City Series

The second Mexico City Series will feature the Astros and Rockies for a pair of games on April 27 and 28, almost exactly a year after this season's inaugural Mexico City Series.

Both Houston and Colorado last played internationally in Mexico, but in Monterrey, not Mexico City. The Astros played two regular-season games against the Angels there in 2019, and the Rockies played an exhibition series against the D-backs that same year.

The Astros have played exhibition games in Mexico City before, in 2016 against the Padres and 2004 against the Marlins.

London Series

The London Series returns for its third edition overall, with the Mets and Phillies facing off at London Stadium on June 8 and 9.

The Mets will be playing abroad for the first time since 2010, when they faced the Marlins in Puerto Rico. But they're no stranger to international games, having participated in both MLB's first-ever international regular season games in 1996 in Mexico and MLB's first-ever regular-season games in Japan in 2000.

• 2024 London Series will feature NL East rivalry in Mets-Phils

"Interest in baseball is growing all over the world, and to bring the Mets' 'never-say-die' attitude to sports fans in London is a tremendous honor," Mets owner Steve Cohen said. "Our Queens family is ready to show London a great time with exciting baseball and amazing experiences that create new fans and build the Mets community throughout the United Kingdom."

The Phillies have never played regular-season games internationally, and have left the U.S. and Canada only once, over 50 years ago, for a pair of exhibition games against the Pirates in San Juan in 1977.

"Major League Baseball has done an excellent job of expanding its footprint internationally, and we are honored to play a role in that effort as part of the 2024 London Series," Phillies managing partner John Middleton said. "This will be a wonderful opportunity to showcase our players' talents and highlight the excitement that comes with a Phillies-Mets matchup for our fans in the UK and for those who have never attended a baseball game."

Dominican Republic Series

In addition to the three international regular-season series planned for in 2024, the Red Sox and Rays will play a Spring Training series in Santo Domingo at Estadio Quisqueya from March 9-10.

"This unique opportunity builds on our long-standing connection to the Dominican Republic and allows us to celebrate the remarkable talents and rich cultural heritage of a country whose passion for the game has distinctly shaped our organization," Red Sox president Sam Kennedy said. "From the players who have passed through our Dominican Republic Academy to those who have helped us win championships, we have been fortunate to witness the profound impact of Dominican players within our game, and we are thrilled to be able to bring Red Sox baseball to such a vibrant baseball community next year."

Exhibition games are also a key part of the MLB World Tour, which includes up to 16 exhibition games being played internationally between 2023 and ‘26, as well as up to 24 regular-season games spanning Asia, Europe and Latin America.
