The Tallest Man on Earth Adds Fall 2023 Tour Dates, Shares New Single “Henry St.”: Stream

His upcoming album, Henry St., drops on April 14th

The Tallest Man on Earth has extended his 2023 tour with a new North American leg this fall. He’s paired the tour announcement by unveiling “Henry St.,” the title track to his upcoming seven studio album.

Following a spring outing in the US and early summer leg in Europe, the Swedish folk singer-songwriter (aka Kristian Matsson) will embark on a 24-date run across North America that opens on September 5th in Durham, North Carolina. He’ll hit Toronto, Chicago, Los Angeles, and more before making it back to North Carolina to close the tour in Asheville on October 14th.

Tickets for the new 2023 tour dates go on sale Wednesday, March 8th at 9:00 a.m. local time via Ticketmaster . Alternatively, browse for tickets and deals to every stop on The Tallest Man on Earth’s ongoing trek, including sold-out stints in Los Angeles and New York, via Stubhub — where orders are 100% guaranteed through Stubhub’s FanProtect program..

“Henry St.” will likely become a staple on every future live set. According to a statement from the singer, the raw, stripped-down single strikes at the big questions like “Why am I actually doing this?” while also marking a critical point on the new album. “It’s the low point and the turnaround,” he shared. “The other songs are a reminder that I will always be a stubborn optimist, even at the darkest of times.”

The song features Megafaun’s Phil Cook , who Matsson recalled was “hanging over my shoulders at the piano while we were playing, and then he recorded it. He improvised that beautiful outro. When he did, our jaws dropped — I was in tears.”

The accompanying music video follows an ongoing Jeroen Dankers-directed trilogy that began with the album’s lead single, “Every Little Heart,” and continues with a moody night stroll “inspired by adolescence. Doing stupid things, stuck in a place, being your smallest self.” Sounds like a tall order for The Tallest Man on Earth. Watch the “Henry St.” visual below.

Crónica | The Tallest Man On Earth en Rambleta (Valencia, 2024)

El pasado 4 de septiembre la ciudad de Valencia dio comienzo a una nueva e ilusionante temporada de conciertos. Durante las próximas semanas, grupos como Bodega , John Maus, The Lemon Twigs o The Pains Of Being Pure At Heart desfilarán por todas las salas de la ciudad para sentir el calor de todos los melómanos valencianos que quieran pasar un buen rato.  Kristian Matsson -más conocido por su pseudónimo musical The Tallest Man On Earth – fue el encargado de arrancar el ciclo de otoño dentro del auditorio de la Sala La Rambleta .

Había que remontarse hasta el año 2016 para encontrar la última visita de Kristian en tierras valencianas, precisamente también en el auditorio de La Rambleta . Y también debíamos mirar unos cuantos meses atrás en el calendario para encontrar su última actuación en vivo, la cual fue en Enero del 2024. El cantautor sueco ha escogido nuestro país para empezar su nueva gira europea, y tras un aclamado primer show en Barcelona, tocaba seguir en Valencia .

Llama bastante la atención que la formación musical de The Tallest Man On Earth está integrada por solo una persona (que es el propio Kristian ). Esto es algo que puede hacernos pensar que el concierto podría tornarse algo monótono o plano, pero lo cierto es que consigue que todo el show sea muy dinámico, tanto a nivel de ritmos y sonido. con canciones muy bien hiladas y un continuo cambio de guitarras o incluso breves momentos de piano, hasta el componente más divertido o entretenido, ya que Kristian es un verdadero terremoto que se mueve sin parar por todo el escenario y sabe mantener la atención del público en todo momento a base de bailes y anécdotas personales.

Casi en los primeros compases del concierto apareció King Of Spain , sin duda un tema que no puede dejarse en el tintero cada vez que viene a nuestro país y que interpretó de manera muy enérgica. Tras esto, comentó con el público cómo estaba siendo este inicio de gira, el tiempo que llevaba sin actuar y lo contento que estaba por poder volver de nuevo. Las canciones de « Henry St. » su último LP publicado en el año 2023 tomaron gran parte de protagonismo en los minutos siguientes, pero sin perder de vista a sus grandes éxitos atemporales. Así, también hubo tiempo para escuchar una excelente interpretación de Love Is All,  minutos antes de que Kristian  abriese su corazón ante el público para compartir algunas vivencias con su padre, el cual había fallecido hace pocos meses, o contar sus sueños como adolescente hasta dedicarse a la música.

Un cable en el escenario hizo que el cantautor casi se trastabillase durante el comiendo de I Won’t Be Found que formó un estupendo dúo final de folk contemporáneo junto a The Gardener , posiblemente su canción más reconocible entre el gran público. El sueco se despidió brevemente del público para volver casi al instante a interpretar un BIS que cerró con The Dreamer . The Tallest Man On Earth se llevó una merecidísima ovación por parte del auditorio que perdurará hasta su próxima visita a la ciudad de Valencia .
