Boiler Room’s 2024 World Tour To Includes Chicago, Miami, LA and Las Vegas

Avatar photo

Last week, Boiler Room lifted the curtain on their massive 2024 world tour, soon to bring the best of the underground to 25 cities across six continents.

Following its first-ever world tour last year, the London-based streaming platform and event series will return to 2023 tour locations like London, Manchester, Milan, New York, Seoul, Toronto, Mumbai, Sydney and Melbourne in 2024.

More shows are set for European cities like Amsterdam, Barcelona and Glasgow; South American hotspots like BogotĂĄ, Buenos Aires and Rio de Janeiro; and bustling U.S. metropolises including Chicago, Miami, Los Angeles and Las Vegas. A complete list of cities is available below.

Most dates on Boiler Room’s 2024 world tour are still unannounced, but the brand’s North American stops have been scheduled as follows: Miami, May 17; Toronto, June 1; Chicago, June; New York City, July 13; Los Angeles, September 21; and Las Vegas, December.

Among the artists slated to perform on the tour are Avalon Emerson , Armand Van Helden , ANOTR , Chase & Status , Skream & Benga , 999999999 , I Hate Models , Sara Landry , VTSS and many more.

Boiler Room has announced that this year’s tour will be even bigger than 2023’s and feature a variety of rising local stars who will share the decks with some of the brand’s “vital artists, past and present.” In addition to one-off shows, the 2024 tour includes weekend takeovers in select cities.

Since its inception in 2010, Boiler Room has become one of the most esteemed entities in the worldwide club scene, hosting performances from over 5,000 artists in over 200 cities, per Billboard .

Conducted in trademark Boiler Room fashion—decks placed in the center of dark, sweaty nightclubs and surrounded by lively crowds—these performances live on in history as part of the brand’s massive catalog of filmed sets on YouTube .

Check out a complete breakdown of Boiler Room’s 2024 world tour dates and sign up for pre-sale access in each city here .

Have you ever stayed at Disney’s Pop Century Resort ?

tour room world

Disney’s Pop Century Resort

This “value” Disney Resort hotel takes guests back in time to the second half of the 20th century. With buildings themed to various decades, reasonably priced rooms, and access to the Disney Skyliner , Pop Century has become a POP-ular choice for many guests. Today, we’re stopping by the resort and giving you a look INSIDE one of the rooms .

We’re staying in a Standard Pool room with a pool view. In terms of price, choosing the pool view tends to add a few more dollars onto the room price each night. Depending on when you stay, the rates will change, but the pool view added about $5 each night for us. So let’s take a look around!

We’re checking into Pop Century for the night and we are excited to give you a detailed tour! pic.twitter.com/U37wjja8gf — AJ Wolfe (@DisneyFoodBlog) February 2, 2021

The Standard Rooms at Pop Century come with either a king bed or a queen bed and a queen-size table bed, which is what we have here.

tour room world

Pop Century Room Tour

Let’s take a closer look at this pop art of Mickey ! It really contributes to the themed look in the newly-updated room.

tour room world

When folded up, the second queen bed has a table with seats for two . You can pull it down at night to fit your room for four people.

tour room world

When pulled down, the bed features some pop art of Pluto dreaming of munching on bones.

tour room world

The room is also home to a TV and a dresser with drawers and cabinet storage . In the corner, you’ll find shelving with a coffee maker and a mini-fridge.

tour room world

In addition the coffee maker, this shelving has cups and a selection of Joffrey’s coffee , so you can grab and go on your way to the parks.

tour room world

Here’s a glance at the room from the angle of the door. The bathroom is in the back of the room, and our room happens to connect to the one next door. Not all rooms at this resort are adjoining rooms, so if you need that, you’ll want to request it ahead of time.

tour room world

Let’s get into the details of this room. There are hooks by the door to hang bags, coats, or ponchos to dry. They kind of look like the buttons on Mickey Mouse’s shorts!

tour room world

There is also a safe in the dresser to hold any valuables while you’re out.

tour room world

A display highlights all of the touch spots in our room where enhanced cleaning took place, as part of Disney’s commitment to heightened safety procedures. Our remote was sanitized and placed in a sealed plastic bag .

tour room world

Let’s move into the bathroom! There’s  a large mirror on the wall above the sink , as well as a smaller magnification mirror. We’ve got quite a bit of storage and shelving in here.

tour room world

There’s a sliding door separating the toilet and shower from the sink area , which is convenient for multiple people getting ready at once. Our particular shower has a tub and a sliding door, as well as a movable shower head.

tour room world

Inside the shower is a selection of Disney’s shampoo, conditioner, and body wash . These are refillable, reusable bottles.

tour room world

These rooms were renovated a few years ago, and the features are definitely fancier than some of Disney’s older resort rooms.

Earlier, we mentioned that our room comes with a view! Don’t worry, we’re giving you a peek at that too.

I have stayed here twice. I don’t much care for the exterior of the resort, but I do love the midmod feel of the rooms. And the preferred rooms are sooo worth it if you love the skyliner!! Last time we were on the ground floor, 2 rooms in from the end of building near the skyliner station. It was SO convenient!!

Stayed in May 2019. LOVED IT! Enjoyed walks each moring around Hourglass Lake. I enjoyed having the table and chairs. Room was brand new and pristine. Would stay here again for sure. Like the laundry area. Packed four days of clothes and did laundry. Worked out perfectly for my eight day trip.

Jill, you’re correct that there is no microwave in the Pop Century rooms. You would have to head to Everything Pop’s food court to use the microwaves there.

We LOVE the Pop! We’ve stayed there 6 times. Last year would have been 7 if WDW had not closed the night before we were to leave. We loved the refurbished rooms. Preferred is the way to go; better view, and closer to the food court! Fun family activities like movies under the stars, and now close to the Skyliner!

One year ago we stayed at the Pop, they really did a great job on the rooms, having the skyliner is a big plus. We’ve stayed at the Pop every time we visit Disney World.

We were at 80’s Pop. Just the two of us. Comfortable room, lots of outlets for all your charging. Water pressure was okay — not as strong as I’d like, but okay for a large resort. Stayed 4 nights. We brought some extra instant coffee. Should have asked for extra coffee, as room was cleaned every other day. Bought something for breakfast the night before, taking advantage of the fridge. On third floor, no special view but fine. Quiet. We were there for the Parks, after all. We only ate one meal there on our first night. Nice selection. My meal was better than expected. I’d recommend Pop Century. Wish there was more seating outside — a complaint I’d share with the Parks.

After reading this article, you’ll know exactly what to ask for and how to ask for your Disney World resort room requests!

Understanding The Difference Between Disney Booking Categories And Disney Room Requests

The main difference between a booking category and a request is that a booing category is guaranteed, but a request is not. For example, if you select a room within the booking category of “lake view,” you can be 100% sure that you’ll get a room with a lake view. This specific room view reservation will cost more than a “standard view” booking category room.

An alternative, you can book a “standard view” room at a lower price and then request a room with a better view. However, unlike the booking category option, simply requesting a better room will not guarantee that you will get a better room. It’ll just let the Disney cast members know that, if possible, you would like a room with a better view.

Which Disney Room Views Are The Best?

There are many room views to choose from at each Disney World Resort, and the options vary by resort. For example, the breathtaking savanna view rooms at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge are only available at that resort. That said, there are a few room view options that you should requests if they are available at your resort, including lake view, theme park view, and pool view. Another room option to request is a preferred room, as these rooms often come with fantastic views and short walks to all of the Disney Resort’s amenities.

Prioritize Your Disney World Resort Room Requests

You’ll want to prioritize just two to three Disney World Resort room requests. If there are too many requests, they may be impossible to manage. As a matter of fact, even if you only have two Disney World resort room requests, be sure to prioritize which one you want more! For example, say you request a room with a view and one on a high floor, but the Disney World Resort does not have a room with both. If you specify which of these two requests you prefer, you’ll likely get the one you prefer if it is available.

There are quite a few things to consider when making room requests at Disney, such as the following questions:

  • Where is the room located in comparison to the dining and buses?
  • Is the room on the ground floor or on a higher floor?
  • Would you prefer a room on the ground floor for stroller or wheelchair access?
  • Would you like a specific view?
  • Would you prefer a room near the elevators?

Just as a reminder, if you book a room with the view that you want, there is no need to request that view as well! It’s already guaranteed. Instead, you can use your request to ask for a room on a higher or lower floor, depending on your family’s preference.

Lastly, know that every guest and EVERY Disney resort can request the following items:

  • Handicap-Accessible Room
  • Connecting Rooms (limited availability)
  • Microwaves (limited availability)

Exactly How To Make A Disney World Room Request

There are quite a few ways to make your Disney World Resort room requests.

  • Online through My Disney Experience up to 60 days in advance
  • Call in your requests
  • Fax over your requests

Making Room Requests Online

To make Disney World resort room requests online, you’ll have to do it through My Disney Experience . Your first step is to sign in to your My Disney Experience account. If you don’t already have one, then you’ll need to create an account, which is a pretty straightforward process.

Then, once you’re logged in, you’ll click on the My Disney Experience button in the top right corner. From the drop-down list, select “My Reservations and Tickets.” This will redirect you to your Walt Disney World resort reservation. If it does not appear, you’ll simply link your reservation using the “Link Resort Reservation” button. Then, once you can see your reservation, you’ll click the blue button that says “Update Check-In.”

This will redirect you to a page with a few details that you can add to your vacation before checking in. Instead of focusing on those, you’ll want to shift your attention to the right side of the screen where it says, “show details.” Click on that.

Then, all of the boxes with the aforementioned details will expand, allowing you to make changes. About halfway down, one of the details says, “Room Location Requests.” This is where you can request your room to be on a high or low floor, in a specific tower, with a specific view, or near specific amenities. You are limited to two of these types of Disney room requests. There is also a box to check if you would like your room to be ready before the usual 4 p.m. check-in time.

To finish making your requests, check the “I Agree” box at the bottom of the page.

After a few minutes, you’ll automatically return back to the My Reservations page, where it’ll now say, “You’re All Set.” That said, you’ll still be able to make changes if you would like by following this same process.

Making Room Requests on the Phone

To make your room requests over the phone, you’ll want to call 407-W-DISNEY (407-934-7639). This is one way to make requests that are not listed as options on My Disney Experience. You can call ahead and ask for your requests within five days of your arrival.

Do know that many guests have had difficulties making their reservations over the phone and have often been redirected several times. If that does happen to you, consider making your room requests either through My Disney Experience or over fax.

Faxing Room Requests to Disney

Surprisingly, Disney guests have had a lot of success faxing their room requests over to their Disney resorts – sometimes even more success that requests made over the phone! Since you likely don’t have a fax machine at your disposal, Disney makes it easy for you to “fax” your requests to them without actually having a fax machine.

First, create your “fax” on a Word Document. Instead of thinking about it as a fax, it may be easier to think about it as a letter or an email. Be sure to include the name of the resort you are sending it to, the resort’s fax number, your name, your cell phone number and email address, and a subject (e.g. “room request”) before getting to your requests. When writing your requests, try to keep them brief, yet friendly!

From there, all you have to do to “fax” your Disney World room requests is upload it to faxzero.com ! This website will send your requests off to Disney for you. Try to send your requests five to seven days before the start of your stay.

While the vast majority of the Disney World resorts do take requests by fax, the following hotels do NOT take fax requests: Disney’s Beach Club Villas, Disney’s Boardwalk Inn, Disney’s Boardwalk Villas, Disney’s Old Key West Resort, Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa, Disney’s Wilderness Lodge, and the Boulder Ridge Villas at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge.

To get exactly the room you want at Disney’s Beach Club Resort, there are a few tips that you can put to use. First, because Stormalong Bay is the best and most popular pool on the Walt Disney World Resort property, many of the rooms with a water view can be quite noisy! If you’re looking for a bit of quiet, consider requesting a garden or woods view room instead.

Another tip for a fantastic stay at this Walt Disney World Resort is to request a full balcony. Approximately half of the rooms at Disney’s Beach Club Resorts have extremely small balconies, while the other half have full-sizes ones. If this is important to you, be sure to request a full balcony!

Disney’s Boardwalk Inn And Villas

Now it’s time for Disney’s Boardwalk Inn and Villas tips! First, because Disney’s Boardwalk Inn and Villas is very close to Epcot, request a room on the highest floor possible to have a chance of seeing IllumiNations: Reflections of Earth, the Epcot night show. Second, since Disney’s Boardwalk is quite large, it would be wise to request a room closer to the elevator, or else you may find yourself walking quite a distance to get to your room.

Disney’s Yacht Club

Disney’s Yacht Club resort is the posh counterpart of Disney’s Beach Club Resort. There isn’t all that much to request at Disney’s Yacht Club, besides specific view types. Just like Disney’s Boardwalk Inn and Villas, consider asking for a higher room to catch a glimpse of the fireworks.

Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort

A great request to make at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort is for a view upgrade, particularly to a room with a theme park view, if possible. As a tip, know that there is quite a limited number of standard view rooms, so there’s a good chance that, even if you book a standard view room, you’ll be upgraded to a savanna room. However, if a savanna room is a must for you and your family, it may be wiser to simply book a savanna room. This is by far one of the coolest Disney World resort room requests.

Another important thing to note about the savanna rooms is that each savanna showcases different animals. While giraffes can be found on all three savannas, zebras live only on the Arusha Savanna, ostriches live only on the Sunset Savanna, and kudu live only on the Uzima Savanna. In other words, if there is a specific animal that you want to see, request a room with a view of a specific savanna.

Lastly, know that the ground floor rooms at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge & Villas do not have balconies. If that is a feature that you would like, request a room on a higher floor.

Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa

Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa was the first ever Disney World resort, and the Disney imagineers pulled out all the stops to make sure the first resort was fabulous. Because Disney’s Old Key West Resort is a little bit different from most of the other Disney World Resorts, DVC members prefer different request options. While some opt to request rooms near the elevator (as only buildings 62, 63, and 64 have elevators), others choose to use their requests to request a room with a dual entrance bathroom (rather than a room where you can only access the bathroom through the master bedroom).

Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa

The original Saratoga Springs in New York was a retreat from the city known for its spas and horse racing. While horse racing may not be on Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa’s list of amenities, the exciting yet relaxing atmosphere of the original Saratoga Springs definitely still rings true.

If you plan on taking Disney’s bus transportation to the parks from Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa, consider requesting a room in the Grandstand section, as guests staying in this part of the resort are the first to board the buses and the first to disembark. However, if you’d prefer easy access to Disney Springs and the many amazing restaurants and fantastic shops there, consider requesting a room in the Congress Park section instead.

Cinderella Castle Suite Tour & Photos

tour room world

This photo tour showcases our visits to the Cinderella Castle Suite in Magic Kingdom–the most exclusive hotel room at Walt Disney World, and a popular spot for celebrities and what used to be an exclusive prize for promotional giveaway winners. ( Updated January 11, 2021 .)

Recently, there has been renewed interest in the Cinderella Castle Suite thanks to this viral video on the Disney Parks TikTok account, which has garnered 3 million views and counting. We’ve since been receiving a lot of questions about the royal room, which has largely gone unused by Walt Disney World for the last decade.

Our hope is that this new excitement will spark Disney to do something with the Cinderella Castle Suite. It’s such a lavish and regal room, but about the only use it has received recently is for occasional auction winners. (See what price those fetched in How Much Does a Night in the Cinderella Castle Suite Cost? ) Now, let’s take a look inside and share some history of the Cinderella Castle Suite…

When Magic Kingdom opened and Cinderella Castle debuted in 1971, this was not built as a hotel room. It was pretty much the polar opposite, as the space that’s now Cinderella Castle Suite was originally a multi-purpose utility space. Some desks, phones, and storage.

It was converted by Walt Disney Imagineering, which completely decorated and upholstered the space as a ‘royal bedchamber’ in the process. The Cinderella Castle Suite can sleep up to six people, and opened for the Year of a Million Dreams, a promotional campaign that ran over decade ago (hard to believe it’s been that long!). During this contest, it was given away as a grand prize of sorts to one lucky family each day.

tour room world

Since, the Cinderella Castle Suite has become the dream experience for some Disney fans. Along the way, this fan-desire has been spurred by Disney-forum accounts from the Suite by lucky guests who won stays in the Suite, podcast details of the Suite from travel agents, and everyone’s favorite, Samantha Brown Travel Channel special tours of the Suite.

In just a few short years, it has attained the cult-like status of exclusive Club 33 restaurant or Walt’s Apartment in Disneyland, and rightfully so, as it’s arguably more exclusive than either of those locations. The photos that follow throughout this post are some of our unique photos from our visits to the Cinderella Castle Suite.

Let’s start our photo tour of the Cinderella Castle Suite!

In recent years, there have been a few tours of the Cinderella Castle Suite offered. These tours are conducted by a Walt Disney World Guest Relations Cast Member–the same type of Cast Member who would serve as the overnight concierge for celebrities and giveaway winners who would stay in the Suite.

To call the Castle Suite opulent would be an understatement. Lavishly adorned with the full royal treatment, its “Beauty-Per-Square-Foot” Ratio is through the roof.

tour room world

We have been in the Suite twice, via tours held during the D23 Magic & Merriment Event . Unfortunately, we haven’t had the opportunity to stay overnight… yet! 😉

Staying overnight inside Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom is a dream of ours, but apparently we do not have the clout of Suri or Tom Cruise, Mariah Carey, and other recent celebrity guests. Oh well, perhaps after we get our own reality TV show on which we act like buffoons we’ll be invited.

tour room world

The Cinderella Castle Suite cannot be booked, it’s by invite or via winning a contest, only.

There are rumors that Disney has turned down large sums of money ($40,000+ per night) to book the Suite.

tour room world

$40,000 for a 1-night stay seems like an insane amount of money, but given that it could only be booked 365 times per year and also given that there are a lot of stupidly rich people in the world, it would probably fully book up well in advance at that price point or higher.

The high demand for the Suite versus the limited supply probably partly explains why Disney does not book the room.

Originally intended to be an apartment for Walt Disney and his family when they were in Florida, the space became an area for telephone operators after Walt died in 1966. The Suite is visible from the bridges to Liberty Square and Adventureland; it’s the small stained glass windows some distance above Cinderella’s Royal Table.

Cinderella’s Royal Table is one of Disney’s most popular restaurants ; it’s a princess character meal that is popular because it’s actually inside Cinderella Castle, making it a popular restaurant for families. So popular that it often fully books up 180 days in advance. You can read about it and other Walt Disney World restaurants in our Disney Restaurant Reviews .

Any visit to the Suite begins by boarding its elevator activated by what else, but a Key to the World card. While quite small, the elevator’s look foreshadows what is to come, with its intricate design and beautiful details.

Upon exiting the elevator, guests find themselves in a small marble-floored foyer area before entering the main quarters.

tour room world

This area is a veritable treasure trove of all things Cinderella, with the highlight being the fairytale pumpkin coach in the center of the floor. From the foyer, guests head to the Suite itself.

Upon entering the Cinderella Castle Suite itself, the first area visible is the bedchambers, where two lavishly adorned queen size beds sit opposite a fireplace.

tour room world

Signs bearing the words “Show Ready” adorning chairs and beds provide a gentle reminder to Cast Members and guests just how nice their surroundings are.

DSC_3148

I imagine the screening process for MouseKeepers who will be allowed to clean the room is a little greater than normal. Understandably so, as Disney probably doesn’t want someone like me in there, so filled with exuberance that it causes them to jump on the beds.

Behind this extravagant exterior lies 21st century technology. The ornately framed, 17th-century-style portrait of Cinderella above the regal fireplace in the bedchamber magically transforms into a flat-screen HDTV.

DSC_3145

Likewise, in the den there is a mirror that can be turned on to reveal another HDTV. This isn’t your (fairy) godmother’s suite!

tour room world

Lavish it is, but large it is not. The entire space is slightly larger than a Studio room at a Disney Vacation Club resort . It may look large from the photos, but it is quite compact (hence the need to use the fisheye lens to capture the space). Fortunately, it utilizes its space quite well.

The Suite itself contains a salon, bedchamber, and bathroom all befitting of royalty. In typical Walt Disney Imagineering form, the entire Suite looks like something straight out of a fairytale, or more likely, an authentic, Medieval Castle.

DSC_3157

Also in typical Imagineering fashion, the Suite is bursting with details. These are a mix of nods to the film, plus the amenities expected of a luxurious hotel suite (despite its seldom use, it is a functional hotel room).

DSC_3156

Disney has made efforts to ensure that the room is plausibly authentic as a suite in Cinderella Castle despite its modern conveniences.

The Cinderella Castle Suite carefully toes the line between modern and Medieval.

Each celebrity guest who stays in the Suite is given one of these glass slippers commemorating their stay (at one time, we were told that this slipper cost $18,000–there is considerable doubt that this is its actual cost/value…unless there’s some serious Disney mark-up going on!). This slipper was given to Mariah Carey, who elected not to take it.

DSC_3141

Some of the stately details include two queen size beds draped by regal canopies, a gorgeously stitched parlor sofa, and those beautiful stained glass windows mentioned above.

Unfortunately, these windows don’t allow for much of a view of the park (it’s far from one of the Best Magic Kingdom Fireworks Viewing Locations ), but they’re pretty, nonetheless.

One question that often comes up when people hear that celebrities use the Cinderella Castle Suite or that it goes empty many nights is, “why isn’t Disney donating it to ‘Make A Wish’?” Unfortunately, given the size of the Suite, its accessibility limitations, etc., this simply is not a feasible option. I would suspect liability issues also have something to do with it. So, blame the lawyers and laws!

The most beautiful space, I think, is the bathroom and, more specifically, the bathtub itself.

With its walls covered in mosaics reminiscent of those lining the walls of the passageway from Main Street to Fantasyland below, and its star-covered ceiling, guests bathe in style in this royal tub.

Here’s a view from the bottom of the bathtub looking up at the ceiling, because, why not? So, now you have an answer to the pressing question “what would it be like for Gus Gus to view the tub?”

The ambient lighting in the bathtub is exceptional. Take a look as it goes from normal (above)…

tour room world

…to moody green.

I think if I had the opportunity to stay overnight in the Suite, I would spend about 75% of my time in this resplendent tub. (Not that I’ve already allocated my time in such a hypothetical scenario or anything.)

DSC_6761

The toilet, well…let’s just say there’s good reason to call this bad boy the “throne.”

The myriad of details in the Suite are such that you could spend hours poking around in there and still not discover everything. It is quite unfortunate that Disney hasn’t utilized this Suite more, as it presently is only used, on occasion, for visiting celebrities who supposedly make charitable donations for use of the Suite.

DSC_3152 (2)

Tours of the Suite have not been offered to the public for several years, and often, the Suite goes months with nary a guest stepping foot inside.

Seeing the guest quarters is such a wonderful experience that it’s a travesty that park guests do not have the opportunity to see the inner chambers of the Cinderella Castle Suite. I know an overnight stay in the Castle Suite is in Sarah’s thoughts each time she stares longingly at the Castle on our Walt Disney World trips. I guess until the Year of a Million Dreams 3.0, that stay will only be once upon a dream!

I am obsessed with Disney, especially Cinderella’s Castle! The Magic Kingdom is my absolute favorite park and I always have to go there first when I visit Disney World! It would definitely be a dream come true to spend a night in the castle ❀

my daughter and I made all the stainĂšd glass windows and insersin the suite. they were designed so that you could not see the park below by using special obsure effects so as to maintain the illusion of being on a castle.

Eh…. Not to my taste. Impress me with exciting contemporary design and exhilarating views.

I like the bed I’m sleeping in I dream a dream of wherever it is!

Do not despair people! There are a bunch of real castles in Britain that you can stay in for a vacation at a fraction of the price it costs us in the UK to do Disneyworld!

It would be a dream-come- true , for my two grandchildren and me to spend time in the Cinderella suite
as we are not members of “ the rich & famous”
.we are just ordinary folks, who would love to see what it is like to live as a “PRINCESS”

Well I love disney and my husband and my family went to Disney on a trip while we were there we won a weekend stay at the Cinderella castle it was one of my dreams of a life time 6 of us who stay there for the weekend abs Disney made us all feel like kings and queens. They even close down the park for us so we could have it all to our self s it Truley was a dream come true. Cathi Shearer.

' src=

May I ask how did you win a weekend stay at the castle?

' src=

I still have my first cinderella watch, not sure what age I was when I received it. I am now 62 years old. Live with my prince of many years and would love to spend the night in the castle with him and my son. We are DVC members and our son has grown up with Disney, everyone in our family thinks he’ll find his princess at Disney one day. color in princess coloring books to help with my anxiety during the first year of my diagnosis, it really help to clear your mind. Thanks Disney for creating Cinderella keep the dream going for all girls.

' src=

Three disconnected thoughts; – I think you’re right about enough people being willing to pay huge sums to rent out the suite, which relates to questions about whether there will be enough customers when the Star Wars hotel experience finally opens. – I worked a hotel many decades ago which had “throne seats” over the toilets. If the bellman (back then they were all men) hadn’t explained it to the guest we’d often get calls from guests saying they’d looked everywhere and couldn’t find the toilet. – Obviously this suite is both larger and much more lavishly detailed, but I’m reminded of videos I’ve seen about the uber-themed “love hotels” in Tokyo.

Oh my…to be a wealthy celebrity!

This is beautiful.

Moscow Metro

The Moscow Metro Tour is included in most guided tours’ itineraries. Opened in 1935, under Stalin’s regime, the metro was not only meant to solve transport problems, but also was hailed as “a people’s palace”. Every station you will see during your Moscow metro tour looks like a palace room. There are bright paintings, mosaics, stained glass, bronze statues
Our Moscow metro tour includes the most impressive stations best architects and designers worked at - Ploshchad Revolutsii, Mayakovskaya, Komsomolskaya, Kievskaya, Novoslobodskaya and some others.

What is the kremlin in russia?

The guide will not only help you navigate the metro, but will also provide you with fascinating background tales for the images you see and a history of each station.

And there some stories to be told during the Moscow metro tour! The deepest station - Park Pobedy - is 84 metres under the ground with the world longest escalator of 140 meters. Parts of the so-called Metro-2, a secret strategic system of underground tunnels, was used for its construction.

During the Second World War the metro itself became a strategic asset: it was turned into the city's biggest bomb-shelter and one of the stations even became a library. 217 children were born here in 1941-1942! The metro is the most effective means of transport in the capital.

There are almost 200 stations 196 at the moment and trains run every 90 seconds! The guide of your Moscow metro tour can explain to you how to buy tickets and find your way if you plan to get around by yourself.

What is the future for disability golf? Kipp Popert and Brendan Lawlor discuss their drive to further grow the G4D Tour

Kipp Popert believes the “future is bright” for disability golf as he and Brendan Lawlor spoke of their hopes for the next phase in the development of the G4D Tour.

G4D Tour Nations Cup-2168790752

The G4D (Golf for the Disabled) Tour – launched in 2022 as a partnership between the DP World Tour and EDGA – has provided a platform to promote disability golf but at present does not have prize funds.

Now into its third full season, this week saw the first mixed team event take place with the G4D Tour Nations Cup at The Belfry, in advance of the Betfred British Masters hosted by Sir Nick Faldo.

Popert, the most successful player in G4D Tour history, teamed up with Heather Gilks – who like Popert has cerebral palsy – to win the title for England in the event’s inaugural edition on Tuesday.

With three two-day events left on the 2023/24 G4D Tour schedule, Popert is thinking about how the sport can continue to grow and further boost participation.

Asked what the future is for disability golf, he said in an interview in the Green Room : “I would love to help grow this Tour to make it big enough where there is a prize fund for disabled players.

“I believe there is a lot of talent here that deserves it. I will keep being an advocate for that because the future is bright, and I just want to make sure that kids coming through have as much opportunity as possible.”

View this post on Instagram A post shared by DP World Tour (@dpworldtour)

Lawlor, another key ambassador for the game, also teed it up in England alongside compatriot Fiona Gray and he also shares Popert’s hopes for what is the next step in the sport’s ongoing progression.

Last year’s G4D Open champion will host a disability golf event with a €35,000 prize fund next month in his home country, with 11 of the best disability players involved in the three-day pro-am event.

“There are many things where I want to see it go,” Irishman Lawlor said. “First of all, I want to see it become a paid sport.

“I think that is extremely important for people to [help] keep their ambition to keep playing."

Due to the European Tour group’s ongoing financial support, EDGA has been able to raise awareness, confirm eligibility, organise tournaments, and deliver golf development and coach education worldwide.

Inside the Real Metropol Hotel from “A Gentleman in Moscow”—Following in the Count’s Footsteps

The outside facade of the Metropol Hotel in Moscow -- where the book

“A Gentleman in Moscow” by Amor Towles is a must-read novel, recommended by even the likes of Bill Gates, and it is now also a TV series . You don’t have to be interested in Moscow either to be charmed by the wit of Count Alexander Rostov—the book’s main character.

The Count’s story takes place almost entirely in the Metropol Hotel in Moscow near the Bolshoi and the Kremlin. This hotel is where he was sentenced to house arrest in 1922 for the remainder of his life.

Count Rostov, an indomitable man of erudition and wit, has never worked a day in his life, and must now live in an attic room while some of the most tumultuous decades in Russian history are unfolding outside the hotel’s doors. Unexpectedly, his reduced circumstances provide him a doorway into a much larger world of emotional discovery.

A person holds a hardcover copy of the book A Gentleman in Moscow in front of the Metropol Hotel, where the plot of the book takes place.

I was prompted to read it by my good friend Shannon , who lent me her copy on my last trip back home. It took me about a week to devour it from cover to cover, and it immediately became one of my favorite books I had ever read. The Count is an endearing character who one can’t help but be fascinated with and emotionally invested in.

If you haven’t read the book yet, stop right here and then click here to get yourself a copy !

The entrance to Hotel Metropol, a hotel in Moscow, Russia where the book A Gentleman in Moscow takes place.

I was fortunate enough to be living in Moscow while I read the book. So, of course, once I finished it…I had to check out the Metropol Hotel for myself.

I reached out to the Metropol to see if it would be possible for me to follow in Count Alexander Rostov’s footsteps…and was delighted to hear the Metropol will absolutely arrange an “A Gentleman in Moscow” tour of the hotel; you can even book “A Gentleman in Moscow” centered package at the hotel – complete with a stay in a room of your choice (perhaps, suite 317?), drinks at “the Shalyapin bar,” a dinner consisting of the Count’s favorite meals…and then breakfast by the hotel’s fountain (an important spot in this novel, if you haven’t read it yet).

Please note: This post was originally written in 2019 when I was living in Moscow, Russia. Given the current world events, travel to Russia is not advised .

The famous fountain inside the grand dining room of the Metropol hotel in Moscow. The fountain is marble tiled with a gold statuette of an angel. White clothed tables surround the fountain in an ornate dining room.

“If a man does not master his circumstances then he is bound to be mastered by them.” ― Amor Towles, A Gentleman in Moscow

Having only a week to arrange the tour during the hotel’s peak summer season, all of the suites were occupied. But a tour of the historic Metropol Hotel was still possible…even without an overnight stay.

“A Gentleman in Moscow” Tour of the Metropol Hotel – Following in the Count’s Footsteps

I entered the Metropol Hotel from the same entrance as the Count would have on his final entry into its grand marble lobby. The hotel has multiple entrances, but the one facing the Kremlin is the only one ever mentioned in the book.

  • Enter the entrance with a view of the Kremlin and Bolshoi.

The entrance to the Metropol hotel, looking out on the street towards the Kremlin and Bolshoi in Moscow, Russia.

After passing through the hotel’s security, I took a moment to admire the lobby and see if I could spot any similarities to the book.

  • After arriving in the lobby, you can either head to the desk on your lefthand side or the check-in counter on your righthand side. Either spot can introduce you to your “A Gentleman in Moscow” guide.

An interior image of the Metropol Hotel lobby, featuring marble floor to ceiling tiles and curtains in every doorway.

I had expected to be greeted by an employee of the hotel and given a brief tour of its interiors, sprinkled perhaps with some historical facts and maybe a few spots mentioned in the book. What I did not expect was to be greeted by Daniel, who not only had studied the book in great detail but also embodied the Count’s fondness of telling an artful story, his “curled mustache,” and deep love of the Metropol Hotel.

A suited Russian man named Daniel stands with his hands folded in front of a hotel bar, prepared to guide guests on a

Daniel’s enthusiasm and deep knowledge of both the hotel and the book were a wonderful surprise and made this tour of the Metropol Hotel very exciting!

The tour started by pointing out that the Shalyapin Bar had been moved from its corner facing the Bolshoi Theatre to the righthand side of the hotel across from the elevators.

The Shalyapin Bar

  • You’ll also be shown the staircase and elevator where The Count meets Anna and her energetic hounds.

A staircase inside the Metropol Hotel, where characters from the book A gentleman in Moscow meet for the first time.

The Piazza

You’ll then round the corner and enter the infamous grand dining room known as “the Piazza” in the novel.

It’s not quite the casual restaurant described in the book. Instead, you can enjoy a grand breakfast or brunch in the morning hours…or even rent the room for a private event.

You’ll, of course, notice that the fountain where the Count meets Nina is indeed right it should be, though.

The entrance to The Piazza at the Metropol Hotel. The grand dining room lies beyond two old wood doors and features a large vaulted stained glass ceiling and many dining tables.

Daniel also told a story of how in the early days of the hotel, this fountain used to have live fish swimming in it. Sometimes, a guest would pick out their dinner from the fountain…where the chef would promptly take the fish into the kitchen, throw it away, and prepare a suitable fillet of fish for the unknowing guest.

The Balcony for Nina’s “Experiments”

A photo looking up to a balcony inside the Piazza grand dining room inside the Metropol Hotel. The balcony features large glass doors and overlooks the entire dining room.

This would have also been the room that housed the balcony that Nina used for her “experiments.” You’ll also be able to walk up to the balcony to get a better view of “the Piazza” and to imagine yourself as Nina, dropping a pineapple and such from here.

A gorgeous view of the Piazza dining room from a second floor balcony. Dining tables are arranged throughout the room and around a stunning marble fountain. The sun shines in through the vast stained glass ceiling.

The Count’s original room 317 (before he gets moved to the attic) was occupied the day I visited, but I was still able to get the same view of the Bolshoi Theatre from a second-floor window. (This room was more of a meeting room and not a suite.)

The Count’s View of the Bolshoi Theatre

Daniel pulls back a curtain, revealing the view of the Bolshoi Theatre -- the same view The Count would have had from his suite in A Gentleman in Moscow.

And while the “wine cellar” (with all of its lable-less wine), technically doesn’t exist, you can still visit the room where it would have been on your tour. It’s a lower-level banquet hall that may one day become the hotel’s spa…

Where the hotel’s “wine cellar” would have been …

A large empty room with arched ceilings and patterned carpet, and a staircase. This room is where the wine cellar would have been in the book A Gentleman in Moscow.

“The Boyarsky”

Next, you’ll make your way up to “The Boyarsky Restaurant.” Now, technically, this isn’t a restaurant anymore. It’s a room now used for private functions. (I had visited it just after it was used for a private luncheon for some visiting diplomats.)

It’s very similar to how I had pictured it, though! And it is fun to think of the Count expertly waiting tables here.

A dimly lit dining room features several dining tables on a parquet wood floor. This room is written as

The 6th Floor

The 6th floor/”attic” of the hotel does exist, though! It was a level that used to be used for storage and for housing the servants. However, in more recent years, the 6th floor has been converted to rooms. So, you could also stay in a room on the 6th floor…just as the Count would have. (Although, I’m assured that these rooms are far nicer than the one the Count had!)

The 6th floor of the Metropol Hotel is an unassuming hallway with tan walls and double doors leading to guest rooms.

The tour will also show you other aspects of the hotel – such as famous guests who have stayed here, the hotel’s founder, beautiful rooms and views!

Photo Gallery of The Metropol Hotel from A Gentleman in Moscow

A quaint seating area features four upholstered chairs in front of a three panel stained glass window.

“A Gentleman in Moscow Cocktail”

Alas, why not end your tour with “A Gentleman in Moscow” cocktail? It’s “a cocktail that features a drop of decadence with a tone of comfort, sweet notes balanced against citrus flavor. It is served in a sphere of ice that one can break into the glass. Same as a writer puts an entire life, an entire world under a book’s cover so that you can share a few exciting hours or days with the company of your favorite characters.”

A leather booklet features a photo of a cocktail that's featured in the popular novel, A Gentleman in Moscow.

I did end up coming back to the hotel later that night after a performance at the Bolshoi to have a drink at the bar and sample this cocktail. I’m more like the Count and generally only partake in wine and beer, so this cocktail was a bit outside my normal palette—but I did enjoy it. I also enjoyed getting to break the ice sphere with a little hammer…

The A Gentleman in Moscow cocktail, served at a bar inside the Metropol Hotel in Moscow. The cocktail is made inside a highball glass with an ice sphere and cinnamon stick.

If you should find yourself in Moscow, I highly recommend taking this tour and enjoying a cocktail/dinner at the bar! You can click here to contact the Metropol Hotel to organize a time for your tour. And click here to book your stay at the Metropol Hotel and to see current room rates.

Are there any other fans of “A Gentleman in Moscow” out there? Let me know if you’ve read the book in the comments! (I’m also happy to answer any questions about the tour in the comments section.)

Travel Insurance

It’s a good idea, no matter where your adventure takes you, to have travel insurance. You never know what might happen! Whether you get sick before your trip and can’t go, or you become sick or injured while on your adventure – being covered with travel insurance is a must. Some credit card companies do provide this service (check with yours), or you can get a quote from companies such as Squaremouth to find the best plan for you and your adventure. (This is the company I personally use. Forbes even recommends them!) .

I am loving the novel and savoring every line. Your page has been bookmarked so I can see the spots as I progress through the novel. Now I MUST visit!

My book club discussed the book this evening, and in pursuing photos of the Metropol I stumbled across your great article. Thank you for taking us along on this fun tour of this imaginative book setting!

I love the book!! A couple of chapters left to savor. Your pictures show that the hotel is far grander than I thought to imagine. Can’t wait to see what the limited tv series does with the story and the characters and the Metropol!! Too bad Putin is ruining Russia for the world. Absolutely horrid that he is killing so many innocent Ukranians and brainwashed Russian soldiers and destroying the cities in Ukraine. He is an utter fool, as are those in America who support him and our autocrat wannabe.

I’m in the midst of the novel and so enjoyed learning that the metropol actually exists and seeing your photographs. Thank you! ?

ditto. i have a couple of chapters left. i have already searched for the hotel. Did not see this blog till later. i even signed up on Pintrest for it which i did not want to do. But having been to Moscow a few months before Pandemic i decided to read this book on the recommendation of friends i made during that tour. i have recommended it to our book club and we are reading it this fall as a group and when i saw this tour i was thrilled so that i could orient myself with what i saw when i was there and with the book. Thank you!

Thanks so much for your post and great collection of images of the Metropol. I’m in the middle of A Gentleman in Moscow and was delighted to find your post. Appreciate you sharing and allowing me to escape even further into the magic of Towles novel. Cheers!

World number one Scottie Scheffler made the ideal start to his bid to win a first FedExCup title by moving into a seven-stroke lead after the first round of the Tour Championship in Atlanta.

The American shot a bogey on the first hole, but went from strength to strength after that by hitting seven birdies, including one on the par-five 18th.

Scheffler signed for a six-under-par 66 but is 16 under overall.

The Tour Championship's staggered structure meant the 28-year-old, the leader in the FedExCup points standings, started the tournament at 10 under.

Compatriot and world number two Xander Schauffele, who started the contest at eight under, could only open with a one-under-par 70.

He is tied in second place on nine under with fellow American Collin Morikawa, who climbed the leaderboard thanks to a five under 66, after starting on four under.

Elsewhere, Northern Ireland's Rory McIlroy is in a share of 10th place on six under after an opening 69.

He began the tournament on four under, but he made four birdies, as well as two bogeys, to complete his first round two shots better off.

"I'm happy with how I hung in there and had a good finish," McIlroy told Sky Sports.

"When I saw Scottie had got to 14, I was like, 'oh, got to try to just hang on to the coat-tails a little bit'.

"I still feel like I've got a chance, and it was nice to finish the way I did."

Of the two Englishmen in the 30-man field, Ryder Cup star Tommy Fleetwood is on two under after an opening 70, but Wolverhampton's Aaron Rai, playing in this season-closing event for the first time after a fine run of form , shot a five-under 66 to sit a shot behind McIlroy, tied for 14th.

Scattered thunderstorms are forecast for Friday's second round.

There is no 36-hole cut for the tournament, while the winner after 72 holes will take home the FedEx Cup and a $25m (ÂŁ19m) prize.
