My wife and I recently used Golf 2 Africa for a wonderful golf holiday in South Africa. They did an excellent job, sorting out pick ups at the airport, transfers to a first class guest house in Pretoria, then as a result of their recommendation we stayed at Wildside Camp, Entebeni for 4 days. Our tour guide was excellent, we saw lots of the animals, including lions, cheetah, rhino, elephants and lots of antelope. We were then transferred to Rovos Rail for 9 wonderful days of golf. Every part of the holiday arranged by Golf 2 Africa was first class.

Having just returned from a 3 week golfing holiday arranged by Golf 2 Africa, and as our group leader I would like to say just how much we enjoyed the whole trip. This is the second holiday we have booked through Golf 2 Africa and I must say the organization was second to none. The hotels and golf courses selected for us were top notch as was our guide Pete who took care of every detail. I can thoroughly recommend any holiday arranged by Quintin and his staff. We will be visiting South Africa again and will definitely let them handle all the arrangements. SUPERB!!

Groot Constantia Wine Estate

Founded in 1685, the historic Groot Constantia wine farm is a picturesque estate that became known in the 18 th century for its sweet wines and superior quality, bringing itself attention from royals. Authors including Jane Austen and Charles Dickens referenced the winery in their works, and Napoleon Bonaparte had monthly supplies shipped to him. When you visit, you will happy the opportunity to have wine tastings, wine and chocolate pairings and tours of the cellar. There are also two restaurants onsite, as well as a museum detailing the Estate’s rich history.

Once known as the Malay Quarter, the neighbourhood of Bo-Kaap is internationally recognised for its colourful facades that make a great photo opportunity. Once named after its slave population rooted in Malaysian, African, Indian, and Sri Lankan culture and brought over by Dutch imperialists, the neighbourhood has developed into a blend of styles and identities. The neighbourhood is best explored by foot, where you can tour its mosques—including South Africa’s oldest—and visit landmarks, historic restaurants, and shops. At the Bo Kaap Food and Craft Market, held on the first Saturday of each month, enjoy homemade goods from samosas and koesisters to jewellery and handcrafted goods.

Table Mountain

You can make your way to the top of Table Mountain via cable car. The views over Cape Town and the Atlantic Ocean are simply spectacular, whilst there is also a short circular walking route you can follow while you’re up there.

George & Fancourt

Scenic Flights

Fancourt Resort and the town of George reside in the middle of South Africa’s Garden Route, an aptly named stretch of land on the country’s southern coast. One of the best ways to see more of the stretch of land is from the air, where you can witness some of the most awe-inspiring natural beauty in the world. White-sandy beaches contrast with crushed cliffs and rolling mountains to create a dreamlike world that is prominently unique. Fancourt and the coastal town of George lie in a secluded spot along South Africa’s Garden Route. Victoria Bay is the isolated coastal area near where George lies, and it is one of the smallest bays along The Garden Route. A beautiful beach that is like a cove enclosed by cliffs, it is also a potential surf spot for the avid surfers, with long waves giving long rides. It is a safe beach with its own tidal pool and jetty, with nearby walking spots connecting the area with the local flora and fauna. It is easily reachable with a rental car from Fancourt Golf Resort.

Are you a lover of beer or breweries? If so, Robertson Brewing Co is sure to excite. It brews premium craft beer in the heart of George, a small township along The Garden Route. A recent addition to the George area, the brewery opened in 2013 and now offer tastings of their wide variety of beers that are unique to South Africa. When to Visit

On the whole, South Africa boasts a much better climate than here in the UK, however across different regions and cities, the temperatures vary. Durban can be humid but tends to have a consistent climate year round. The summer months in Cape Town are warm and dry, with average temperatures of 23-25°c. Winter can be wet and windy, but the sun still shines and the average winter temperature is around 17°c.

A South African Adventure

The golf courses are simply breathtaking and while the six courses I played, from Arabella which lies just an from Cape Town, to the amazing Fancourt Resort in George, home to Africa's top ranked golf course, were all superb, it was Pinnacle Point that really jumped off the page. The course sits high atop the cliffs overlooking Mossel Bay and is pure drama from start to finish. The only thing that could top that course I suppose is a crack at the Extreme 19th at Legend Golf & Safari Resort, something I was lucky to do during our stay at the Entabeni Safari Reserve.

There's so much more to South Africa than just the golf though. The food and wine is to die for and Franschoek, where you'll find restaurants like the heavenly La Petite Ferme, is ideal for foodies and wine lovers. I think the best thing about South Africa though is the sense of adventure you get when you're there. There's so much to do and see so from zip-lining over jungle canyons cage diving with Great Whites, to the cable car ride up Table Mountain and a fascinating excursion to Robben Island; a holiday here is just go, go, go from start to finish.

Year on year South Africa is reaffirming its place as one of the top golfing destinations in the world partly due to its abundance of glorious championship courses but also as a result of the wide variety of things to do away from the golf.

Cape Town International Airport is just 20 minutes from the V and A Waterfront, in the heart of Cape Town. There are direct flights into Cape Town with British Airways from London Heathrow. There are many different indirect flight options into Cape Town including South African Airways via Johannesburg, Emirates Airlines via Dubai, Turkish Airlines via Istanbul. Flight durations average just over 11 hours.

Durban King Shaka International Airport is located just to the North of Durban and just 25 minutes from Fairmont Zimbali Resort. Historically there have been no direct flights from Uk to Durban but as of Winter 18-19, British Airways will fly non-stop to Durban from Heathrow. There are many different indirect flight options including Virgin Atlantic and South African Airways via Johannesburg and Emirates Airlines via Dubai.

O.R. Tambo International Airport Johannesburg is well served from the UK with direct flights from London Heathrow with British Airways, Virgin Atlantic and South African Airways. There are also excellent connections through Dubai with Emirates, through Abu Dhabi with Etihad and through Istanbul with Turkish Airlines. Flight duration is around 11 hours.

BEST TIME TO TRAVEL South Africa has a lovely temperate climate with hot summers and mild winters.

Winter (May to August) Across South Africa’s reserves, winter signals the dry season and the best time to go on safari. Days are mild with plenty of sunshine, however, temperatures often drop in the early mornings and late afternoons – so pack a warm jacket. If you’re spending time in Cape Town, you may see some rain in between the crisp, cool winter days.

Summer (October to March) Cape Town is best in the summer months of October to March. Temperatures can get well into the 30° Celsius range (perfect beach weather!). Summer is the dry season in Cape Town, however, it is the wet season in South Africa’s reserves. Summer rains usually come down in short afternoon thunderstorms, and the landscapes turn lush and green.

GOLF: Today play Pinnacle Point . Magnificently perched atop staggering cliffs, this windswept course three hours east of Cape Town and a half hour south of George marks a major addition to South Africa’s already world-class golf scene. Six of the holes play across deep chasms to greens that seem to float in the Indian Ocean. The yawning ravines and distant horizons can make 150-yard shots look like twice that length. On the par-four eighth, tee and green sit on opposing bluffs; big hitters can attempt an all-or-nothing carry with the hope of having an easy wedge in or play it safe by bailing out left and facing a much longer approach. SIGHTSEEING: Head down to Pinnacle Point with the golfers where you have the opportunity to explore the cave complex underneath this clifftop golf course. This guided tour of The Pinnacle Point Caves in Mossel Bay have revealed the world’s earliest evidence of man’s modern behaviour dating back 164 000 years ago. Discoveries in the system of 15 or more caves has been described as a huge step for mankind going back in history, as it was previously believed man’s complex thinking and behaviour dated back to 40 000 years ago in Eurasia. Findings from the caves have been featured in the prestigious Science and Nature journals, and it is now one of the most well-funded archaeological sites in the world. After lunch in the club you will have a chance to tour some local museums before returning to Fancourt.

GOLF: Play today at Pearl Valley . Set in the famous Franschhoek Wine region, this new Jack Nicklaus Signature Course is a treat to play. Pearl Valley is probably in the top conditioned course in South Africa. As with many Nicklaus courses, water on the right with plenty of sand, will keep the golfers mind off the wide landing areas provided. Also a new development, the course and it's geographical location allow for guests to enjoy a day outing in the Winelands with high quality golf to compliment the food and wine. SIGHTSEEING: Explore the Winelands in more depth, visiting outlying towns, art galleries and boutique wineries.  The drive from the Winelands to Cape Town is 1 hour. You will have the evening free to explore your new base in the Cape Town Waterfont.

Return to the city via the old Cape Malay Quarter, for a walk through the Company Gardens , the fresh produce gardens for ships and locals from the mid 17th Century and today, home to the SA Museum, Cultural History Museum, Houses of Parliament, National Gallery and St George’s Cathedral. Stroll through the city to Greenmarket Square to browse African mementos at its bustling market stalls. An 18 hole championship course designed by Peter Matkovich; a backdrop of vineyards, gardens, forests and mountains provides the setting for this beautiful exclusive course. The course is always in excellent condition with bent grass greens and lush fairways. Steenberg offers you the opportunity of excellent golf within the historic setting of one of the Cape's oldest wine farms. Dating back to 1682 the vineyards have been replanted and 140 acres are now under vines.

SIGHTSEEING: Today is an opportunity to add personalized touring to your schedule. Visit Robben Island , explore local craft markets, jewelers or relax at a beach cafe. 

Depart the city along the spectacular Atlantic Seaboard, enroute to the fishing village of Hout Bay to explore the harbour, visiting its fish markets and shops. Continue over the 600m heights of Chapman’s Peak Drive, one of the world’s most breath-taking passes and past the Cape’s longest beach, with a chance to spot Southern Right Whales just offshore from June to November. Enter the Cape of Good Hope National Park for a walk (or optional funicular ride) up to the Cape Point Lighthouse, to take in magical ocean vistas at this, the south westernmost point of Africa. Head along the False Bay coast to Boulders Beach near Simonstown to see a colony of African Penguins and then continue past the seaside resorts of False Bay, towards the city. The last stop of the day is Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens , for a walk through one of the largest collections of indigenous plants in the world. Jock Safari Lodge rangers will meet the group in their open 4x4 vehicles and drive you the through the Kruger Park to the lodge, located 45-minutes South of the airport.

Designed by Gary Player and remodeled in 2004 by David McLay-Kidd (Bandon Dunes), the Montagu is one of South Africa's best parkland golf courses. With the highest levels of conditioning and true championship layout, this tree-lined and challenging course over rolling terrain leaves a positive lasting impression on all who play here. The 8th hole is a delightful par-3 measuring 182 yards, entirely over water. The Montagu at Fancourt sets the standards by which all other courses in South Africa are measured.

The renowned architect Peter Matkovich put it best, describing the property at Pinnacle Point by saying, ‘this is the most dramatic golf course site I’ve ever encountered anywhere in the world.’ It’s difficult to argue with his assessment. Set high above the Indian Ocean, providing sensational, breathtaking views of the crystal blue water from across the course, this is truly a magnificent and memorable design. In all seven holes run parallel to the ocean shore. The home hole is a fierce risk-reward par-5.

The Links, a privately owned club that sits alongside Fancourt, is the No. 1 ranked course in South Africa and is included in the Top 100 courses outside the USA. Over 700,000 cubic metres of earth were moved to transform the old George Airport into an incredible Links style course. The course presents undulating windswept terrain and dune-style landscape that is always in immaculate condition. The Links presents a stern test in all weather conditions. It is the Host course of the 2003 Presidents Cup, 2005 Women's World Cup and 2006 South African Open along with other European Tour events.

Situated near Malelane in the heart of Mpumalanga, on the southern border of the Kruger National Park, Leopard Creek presents a rare opportunity to play an outstanding bushveld golf course. The 360 hectare development is bordered to the north and the west by the picturesque Crocodile River and the Kruger National Park. The course is remotely located and is therefore only recommended for clients looking to add a safari option in Southern Kruger or those using private air-charter services.

The Montagu Course  at  Fancourt . Pinnacle Point  is spectacularly perched atop staggering cliffs. South Africa is famous for its sunshine. It's a relatively dry country, with an average annual rainfall of about 464mm. While the Western Cape gets most of its rainfall in winter, the rest of the country is generally a summer-rainfall region.

Summer (mid-October to mid-February) is characterised by hot, sunny weather – often with afternoon thunderstorms that clear quickly, leaving a warm, earthy, uniquely African smell in the air.

The Western Cape, with its Mediterranean climate, is the exception, getting its rain in winter.
