2014 Trek Madone 3.1 Carbon Bike for $675. I'm looking for a road bike for casual riding and came across the following 2014 Trek Madone 3.1. The owner said he had purchased it for $2000 and added about $1300 extra on components (see link below). I offered $675 and was accepted. It is a full carbon bike, but is this really a good deal?

2011 Trek Madone 3.1, size 56, good condition. Carbon fiber frame, SRAM components all-around. Bontrager Aeolus 50 aero carbon wheels, bike computer with cadence and speed, Shimano 105 clip in pedals, bento box, seat bag, 2 bottle holders. I used this bike quite often when I lived in FL, been stored in the basement since.

As far as I can tell, It's mostly the highest-end bikes. I bought a 2014 Madone 4.3, and that thing has no proprietary things on it. The seatpost is round, the brakes mount normally, and the bar/stem combo is a standard oversize one. Then again, go one step up, and you get to the integrated seat mast, the direct mount brakes, etc.

I am selling my Trek Madone 3.1 Carbon Fiber race bike. Size is a 54. It really has been an excellent bike. Bike is highly maintained and is in excellent condition (aside from 2 paint chips on the frame - shown in pictures).

5.2 is the recommended spec, not the max spec according to Trek. The max spec is unlisted so idk. Granted I doubt this is a design flaw, There's only 3(all 3 from this sub funnily enough.) reports of this happening online and if this was a widespread enough issue there has to be more than that.
