When Elvis Presley was just 22 years old, he purchased Graceland – a 10,266-square-foot mansion that occupied a nearly 14-acre property in Memphis, Tennessee . After the singer's death in 1977, the executors of his estate found that the mansion's exorbitant operating costs proved difficult to maintain, so they decided to open Graceland for tours in 1982. Since then, more than 20 million people from around the world have visited the mansion – which now spans 17,552 square feet – and its surrounding Elvis-themed museums and shops. Read on to plan your Graceland visit.

What is Graceland?

Can you visit graceland without a tour, how much does it cost to tour graceland, graceland tour options, how long is the graceland tour, which graceland tour is best, graceland hours, what is the best time of year to visit graceland, can you stay overnight at graceland, tips for visiting, are there tours from nashville to graceland.

Graceland is a 120-acre institution dedicated to the life and music of Elvis Presley. The main draw is the mansion, but there's more to see than Elvis' former abode. Visitors can stop by Elvis Presley's Memphis, a 200,000-square-foot museum and entertainment complex. This building houses the Presley Motors Automobile Museum and a series of exhibits, such as "Elvis: Dressed to Rock," which features Elvis' performance outfits from 1969 to 1977.

The Elvis: The Entertainer Career Museum, which displays the entertainer's gold and platinum records, his famous jumpsuits and movie memorabilia, can also be found here. Tourists will also have access to 10 interactive exhibits and games. Located throughout the complex, the interactive features include quizzes, a simulated golf cart ride and photo booths that put travelers on Elvis' movie posters and album covers. Finally, the complex houses two restaurants, a coffee shop, an ice cream parlor and a soundstage where tourists can watch Elvis' movies and attend live music performances.

After you learn all about the King, check out the Graceland Exhibition Center. This 80,000-square-foot venue features a variety of rotating museum exhibits, covering a variety of subjects, including motorcycles, Muhammad Ali and Van Gogh. The complex also boasts a food court, a bar and a separate, rentable event space.

No, you cannot visit Graceland without a tour. To access the site, you must purchase one of its ticket packages.

The cost per person varies depending on which tour experience you choose. Ticket packages that include access to the Graceland mansion start at $82 for adults and $46.50 for kids ages 5 to 10. Tickets can cost as much as $240 per person ages 2 and older for the "VIP" experiences, which offer access to exclusive areas, special keepsakes, meal vouchers and more.

elvis tours 2022

There are multiple tour options for visiting Graceland.

  • Elvis Presley's Memphis + Planes Tour : This is the basic tour option. It grants visitors access to Elvis Presley's Memphis Entertainment Complex and the Elvis' Custom Jets exhibit, but does not include access to the mansion. Tickets for this tour start at $49.75 for adults, with discounts for children.
  • Elvis Experience Tour : Tickets for this tour, which start at $82 per adult, include everything in the above tour, plus access to the mansion complete with an audio tour.
  • Elvis Entourage VIP : The Elvis Entourage VIP tour includes everything in both the other tour options, plus skip-the-line access to the mansion, a VIP shuttle to the mansion, access to a special exhibit, and a keepsake pass. Tickets start at $139 per person ages 5 and older.
  • Ultimate VIP Tour : The Ultimate VIP Tour includes everything in the Elvis Entourage VIP, plus a guided tour of the mansion with an experienced guide, access to a VIP lounge, a meal voucher to an on-site restaurant, an archives show and tell, the chance to buy exclusive souvenirs and a photo-op. Tickets for this experience start at $202 per person; children 2 and younger tour for free.
  • Inside the Graceland Archives UVIP Tour : If you're interested in the work done by the Graceland Archives Team, consider this tour, which includes everything in the Ultimate VIP Tour, in addition to a behind-the-scenes look at how the performer's most iconic costumes are cared for and preserved, how his more than 90,000 photos are cataloged and prepped for touring exhibitions, and more. Tickets for this package start at $217 per person; children 2 and younger tour for free.

The mansion tour will take about 90 minutes to complete. Those who decide to tour the rest of Graceland's offerings should budget at least 3.5 hours to explore.

Which Graceland experience you choose largely depends on your fascination with the King. Graceland visitors mention that even non-Elvis fans will enjoy the tour and the up-close look at the entertainer's famous lifestyle. Visitors also appreciate the audio tour narrated by John Stamos. They recommend upgrading your tour to one of the VIP options, saying it is well worth the additional cost.

Graceland is open daily from 9 a.m. to 4 or 5 p.m. (depending on the day of the week and time of year). It closes or has abbreviated hours on holidays. The last mansion tour begins at 4 or 5 p.m., depending on the day and time of year.

The best time to visit Graceland depends on what kind of experience you want. Travelers should check out Graceland's events calendar as the complex and its hotel, the Guest House at Graceland, host numerous weekend events, concerts and day trips to Elvis' hometown throughout the year. Visitors in the mood for a festive atmosphere will want to book a trip in late November, December or early January to see the estate's holiday lights display and decorations.

Yes, you can stay overnight at Graceland. The Guest House at Graceland sits within steps of the mansion and features 450 rooms with designs inspired by Graceland, as well as two restaurants, an outdoor pool and a 464-seat theater for movies and performances, among other amenities.

  • Visit the mansion after 2 p.m. to enjoy fewer crowds and shorter wait times, as this is the slowest time of day. (Multiple travelers note long wait times when arriving before this time). Check Graceland's website for exact opening times; there are certain days and holidays where hours vary.
  • You're welcome to bring cameras, but flash photography is not permitted.
  • Video cameras cannot be brought into the mansion, attractions or gift shops.
  • Note that two rooms in the basement of the mansion and the airplanes are not wheelchair accessible.
  • Bring a permanent marker to sign the famous Graceland wall before you leave.

12 Tennessee Spots Every Elvis Fan Needs To Visit, According To Online Reviews

Sun Studio in Memphis

The iconic Elvis Presley has made an extraordinarily large impact on culture at large. He revolutionized the music universe when he burst onto the scene in the 1950s, shaking up the world with his blend of country and blues that would pave the way for rock 'n' roll's eventual world domination. With classic hits like "Heartbreak Hotel," "Hound Dog," and "Can't Help Falling In Love" and a unique sense of style, Elvis has left an undeniable impact and remains one of the best-selling musicians of all time.

He also remains as relevant as ever today. His contentious relationship with his manager, Colonel Tom Parker, was at the center of Baz Luhrmann's 2022 film "Elvis," and his relationship with his wife Priscilla Presley — who he met when she was just 14 and he was 24 — inspired Sofia Coppola's 2023 film "Priscilla." Born in 1935 in Tupelo, Mississippi, Elvis came into his own on Beale Street in Memphis and recorded his very first song at Sun Studios. He quickly broke out onto the music scene, first scandalizing the world with his flagrant onstage sexuality and sound before sparking a music revolution.

His Memphis estate, Graceland , is still a popular destination for anyone looking to steep themselves in Elvis lore, but Memphis and Nashville, Tennessee both hold plenty of other destinations for Elvis fans. We trawled the web for the places in Tennessee with the best reviews and the strongest Elvis connections to help you search for The King in the state that launched his career.

Graceland - Memphis

Elvis Presley's estate Graceland

Any Elvis-themed visit to Tennessee unquestionably must include a visit to his sprawling and iconic estate, Graceland, which is located in Memphis. Elvis purchased Graceland in 1957 and lived here until he died in 1977. Many of the most important moments of his life played out at Graceland. It's where Elvis lived with Priscilla Presley for five years until their wedding in 1967, and where his daughter, Lisa Marie Presley, used to stay with him before his death.

Today, Graceland is a historic American attraction that includes museums, restaurants, and so much more, all dedicated to Elvis. You can also see his mansion, stables, and the meditation garden where Elvis used to stroll to relax, and that's just the tip of the iceberg; some of the more unique attractions at Graceland include live shows, excursions to Elvis's birthplace in Mississippi, a chapel where you can get married, and more.

Across the web, Graceland consistently ranks as a top destination in Memphis and garners rave reviews. "We weren't particular Elvis fans before we went, but we are now," wrote a reviewer on Tripadvisor who visited the mansion in 2022. "The house is actually quite small, but you really feel close to him and his family when you walk through his front door, and with every step that you take."

Sun Studio - Memphis

Sun Studio in Memphis, Tennessee

When an 18-year-old Elvis walked into Sun Studio in 1953, no one knew who he was. That August, he recorded his first two records — "My Happiness" and "That's Where Your Heartaches Begin" — at the Memphis studio. He later came back and recorded another two songs: "I'll Never Stand in Your Way" and "It Wouldn't Be the Same Without You." None of the tracks received much recognition, but studio owner Sam Phillips launched Elvis's career into the stratosphere by taking notice of him, pairing him with a few local musicians, and eventually inviting him to record a demo called "Without You."

The recording apparently wasn't much to Phillips's liking, though, and Elvis failed to truly impress Phillips until a fateful night when Presley broke out a cover of a blues number called "That's All Right" by Arthur "Big Boy" Crudup. His recording received some radio play, and from there, Presley's career began to take off.

Today, you can visit that same Sun Studio where Elvis laid down his first tracks and take a guided tour of the space, which will cost you $15. You'll also learn more about some of the other greats who recorded there, from Johnny Cash to Roy Orbison. One reviewer on Yelp described this spot as "bursting with amazing, mind-blowing musical history," and many other reviewers praised the studio guides' knowledge of and passion for music and the history of the space.

Memphis Rock 'n' Soul Museum - Memphis

Entrance to Rock 'n' Soul Museum

Anyone looking for a deep dive into music history will be more than pleased with a visit to Memphis's Rock 'n' Soul Museum , which traces the birth of rock and soul music and the people who brought it to life. The museum is a great way to learn more about Elvis's rise as well as the music that informed and shaped his work, starting with field hollers and songs by rural sharecroppers in the 1930s and moving through jazz, blues, and eventually the rock music that would come to dominate the world.

The museum began as a project by the Smithsonian Institution intended to explore the origins of American music, and its archival collection contains many interviews with key players who helped bring rock 'n' roll to life. The museum also features some special Elvis ephemera, including the original lyrics of his hit "Heartbreak Hotel" and the guitar Elvis used to sing to his future wife Priscilla when he met her during his military service in Germany. You'll find the museum located in downtown Memphis, and tickets for adults are $13.

Storytellers Hideaway Farm and Museum - Nashville

Johnny Cash performing

Located on the outskirts of Nashville, this sprawling farm was the beloved haunt of another music great: the late Johnny Cash. The iconic musician purchased the land in the early 1970s and spent over 30 years living on the property, which he once called "the center of my universe," according to the  Storytellers Hideaway Farm and Museum  website.

Today, it's a museum dedicated to country music greats. Obviously, it includes plenty of Cash memorabilia, including the One-Piece-At-A-Time Cadillac that was created for Cash's song of the same name. It also includes tributes to Elvis, such as pieces of the home of Elvis's manager, Colonel Tom Parker, where Elvis used to stay when he was recording in Nashville.

Elvis and Cash's lives share some intriguing parallels. Both rose to fame in Tennessee in the 1950s, and both were signed to Sun Records, so it only makes sense to view their legacies side by side. The location is only open on Saturdays to the general public, and tickets for adults cost $25. However, you can call to reserve a tour on other days of the week.

Historic RCA Studio B - Nashville

Pianos in RCA Studio B

Located in Nashville, Tennessee, RCA Studio B has helped bring countless iconic songs into the world, from Dolly Parton's "I Will Always Love You" and Skeeter Davis's "The End of the World" to Roy Orbison's "Only the Lonely." Elvis also recorded here frequently, laying down over 240 songs between its walls, including "Stuck on You" and "Are You Lonesome Tonight?" Known for launching the "Nashville Sound" into the world, the studio was also the birthplace of the "Nashville Numbers System," a new way of detailing the chords and structures of a song.

Today, the studio's interior remains the same as it was when Elvis sat at the grand piano and belted out some of his most emotional works of art. Visits are conducted through Nashville's Country Music Hall of Fame and cost about $50. Tours last around an hour and include plenty of fun anecdotes about all the icons who recorded at the studio over the years. Reviews praised the tour guide's enthusiasm and storytelling skills, as well as the fun of hearing classic songs played in the place they were recorded.

Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum - Nashville

Elvis's gold piano

Nashville's Country Music Hall of Fame Museum holds the world's largest collection of country-related artifacts, from unique instruments to handwritten letters. It also includes tributes to modern country stars, from Miranda Lambert to Taylor Swift. Additionally, the museum regularly holds events, from songwriter showcases and lessons to art classes, so be sure to check the calendar before stopping by.

Elvis was posthumously inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 1988. Of course, the museum includes plenty of Elvis memorabilia, including Elvis's gold-encrusted Cadillac and his stunning golden grand piano. You can also stop by Elvis' portrait in the Hall of Fame Rotunda, where stars from Dolly Parton to Willie Nelson are also commemorated. Reviewers enjoyed the exhibitions, with one Tripadvisor reviewer calling the museum "probably the best thing to do in Nashville." Tickets cost around $28 for adults.

Musicians Hall of Fame and Museum - Nashville

The outside of the Musicians Hall of Fame and Museum.

Elvis is also honored in the Musicians Hall of Fame and was posthumously inducted in 1986. The Nashville museum contains some of Elvis' jumpsuits as well as the actual interior of American Studios, where Elvis recorded some of his biggest hits, including "Suspicious Minds" and "In the Ghetto." For music lovers visiting Nashville , the museum is a worthwhile experience, whether you're a huge Elvis fan or not.

Along with Elvis memorabilia, the Musicians Hall of Fame and Museum is home to instruments that stars like George Harrison, Ringo Starr, Tammy Wynette, and many more played on recordings, and unlike the Country Music Hall of Fame's museum, it covers many different genres of music. Admission to the museum also includes entrance to the GRAMMY Museum Gallery, an interactive museum where you can play and record your own music while learning about other music greats. Tickets are $28 for adults.

Overton Park Shell - Memphis

Gate in Overton Park, Tennessee

Located in Memphis, the Overton Park Shell was the venue where Elvis gave his first-ever paid performance on July 30, 1954. The 19-year-old Elvis, who had released his debut single "That's All Right" just 25 days before, opened for country singer Slim Whitman. Apparently, Elvis was so nervous that his legs started shaking, but the crowd loved it, and Elvis's signature leg-shaking moves were born. The show is often referred to as the first rock 'n' roll show in history, making the park an extremely significant location.

The open-air theater is located in the 342-acre Overton Park, offering visitors the perfect excuse to enjoy some sunshine and fresh air while also exploring a key moment in Elvis's — and the world's — musical history. For a closer look at the venue, you can take a backstage tour for $16, which many Tripadvisor  reviewers praised for its focus on Memphis, music history, and all the stars who have performed at the Overton Park Shell over the years, including, of course, The King.

Ryman Auditorium - Nashville

Ryman Auditorium interior

The Ryman is one of the most famous country music venues in the world. Sometimes called the "Mother Church of Country Music," The Ryman was the original home of the Grand Ole Opry from 1943 to 1974. The venue was also the place where a 19-year-old Elvis gave one of his first performances on October 2, 1954, notably playing a rockabilly version of Bill Monroe's "Blue Moon of Kentucky." His performance wasn't all that well-received, though, and apparently generated only "tepid applause."

After the gig, Opry manager Jim Denny reportedly told Elvis that he should go back to his day job as a truck driver. Obviously, he didn't, and two weeks later Elvis signed on for 52 appearances on the Opry's rival radio station, the Louisiana Hayride. Today, the Ryman is still very much an active venue. During a visit, you can also take a self-guided tour through the venue's collection of country music history artifacts, or you can schedule a guided backstage tour to view the areas where Johnny Cash and many other stars prepared to "wow" the audience.

The Arcade - Memphis

Entrance to the Arcade Restaurant.

Arcade Restaurant  in Memphis was founded in 1919 and has been owned by the same family ever since. It was also apparently one of Elvis' favorite spots to grab a bite when he was still in Memphis at the start of his career. Today, you can sit in the booth where Elvis sat during his visits, and you can also purchase the establishment's special fried peanut butter and banana sandwiches, which are inspired by one of Elvis's favorite meals. Elvis originally discovered the sandwich in Denver, Colorado, but the fact that it's now for sale at one of his favorite haunts would probably make him happy today.

The restaurant remains a very 1950s-style diner and has been featured in movies including "Great Balls of Fire" and "Walk the Line." Its vintage design makes it an ideal way to imagine you're really back in the '50s, catching secretive glimpses of the hottest new young star eating in the booth beside you after a late-night recording session.

Elvis Presley Statue on Beale Street - Memphis

Elvis Presley statue on Beale Street.

Elvis lived about a mile away from Beale Street when he was a teenager, drawing some of his early inspiration from the Black musicians he listened to here, so a visit to this historic street is vital for any true Elvis experience in Memphis. The street has a long history of boasting incredible live music, as countless legends like B. B. King used to perform here.

Today, Beale Street remains one of the best places to see live music in Memphis, and it also boasts plenty of restaurants and bars, making it the perfect place to spend an Elvis-themed night out. Along the way, you can stop by the bronze statue of Elvis in the aptly named Elvis Presley Plaza, then weave your way through the neighboring establishments in search of a bit of the sound that inspired Elvis so long ago.

Lansky Brothers - Memphis

Lansky Brothers store interior

Elvis' iconic style is second only to his music in terms of infamy and cultural impact. As it turns out, the superstar developed his legendary fashion sense within the walls of a clothing store called Lansky Brothers . Elvis first began frequenting the store at just 17, and store owner Bernard Lansky often recalled how a teenaged Elvis — then an employee at a local movie theater who often stopped by to window shop — would tell Lansky he'd buy him out once he got famous. In response, Lansky would tell Elvis to just "buy from him" once he became famous.

A short time later, Lansky provided Elvis' outfit for his first appearance on "The Ed Sullivan Show " and often styled him in later years. "I put Elvis in his first suit, and I put him in his last," Lansky told The New York Times . Today, Lansky's has moved from its original location to Memphis's Peabody Hotel, but it's still very much open for business and also sells a few Elvis-themed gifts to go along with the suits.

Elvis Costello and the Imposters will embark on a U.S. tour this August, joined on most of the dates by Nick Lowe , Costello’s original late ’70s/early ’80s producer and, of course, the man who knows the answer to the question “(What’s So Funny ‘Bout) Peace, Love and Understanding.”

Costello and Lowe last shared a touring bill in 1989. Lowe will appear on 11 of the 15 initially announced dates, backed by Los Straitjackets, the all-instrumental band that has joined him on other recordings and live shows in recent years. At two of the concerts, the opening act will be Nicole Atkins, who sings a featured vocal part on Costello’s new album, “The Boy Named If.”

Although only 15 shows appear in the initial itinerary, a release about the tour promised “more dates to be announced.” The initial lineup of gigs is primarily concentrated on the east and west coasts with a sprinkling of Western-state dates in between. It begins Aug. 6 in Ohio at Huber Heights’ Rose Music Center at the Heights and moves on to venues including Toronto’s Massey Hall, Virginia’s Wolf Trap and New York City’s Rooftop at Pier 17.

Out west, the greater Los Angeles area will get a chance at two shows — at the Grove in Anaheim and the Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza — and the tour will also visit Denver, Salt Lake City and Paso Robles before concluding in Las Vegas at the Theater at Virgin Hotels on Sept. 3.

Tickets go on sale this Friday at 10 a.m. local time, with more ticketing information available at elviscostello.com .

Guitarist Charlie Sexton was announced as part of the touring lineup and seems to be at least a semi-permanent addition to Costello’s band, the Attractions. He initially joined up so Costello could have an extra instrumentalist on board when keyboard player Steve Nieve was unable to make the initial dates on a U.S. tour last year due to international COVID travel restrictions, but then he stuck around even after Nieve was in the house. Besides Nieve, the Imposters include another member of Costello’s original backing band the Attractions, drummer Pete Thomas, and a 21st century conscriptee, bassist Davey Faragher,

Lowe produced Costello’s initial five-album run that lasted from 1977’s “My Aim Is True” through 1981’s “Trust,” returning for 1986’s “Blood and Chocolate.” He also played bass on half of the 1994 album “Brutal Youth.” He is the writer of Costello’s 1979 anthem (and traditional final encore song) “Peace, Love and Understanding,” originally recorded in 1974 with Lowe’s pre-solo-career band Brinsley Schwarz, so the odds of an encore duet at these shows would seem high.

“The Boy Named If,” released in early January, has been Costello’s most widely acclaimed and embraced album of this century, in no small part due to its return to a rocking full-band sound that sometimes recalls the eras of “This Year’s Model” or “Imperial Bedroom,” after detours into other stylistic diversions like the Grammy-winning “Look Now.”

Sony are to release a new Elvis Presley box set called Elvis On Tour . This 6CD+blu-ray package follows The King on his 1972 North American tour and includes audio from four of the shows, two rehearsals and the concert film on blu-ray.

The first three CDs in this set feature performances from 9th, 10th and 14th April 1972 respectively; that’s Hampton Roads Coliseum, Virginia; Richmond Coliseum, Virginia; and Greensboro Coliseum, North Carolina. All three are previously unreleased. The fourth CD features the 18th April gig at the Convention Center Arena, San Antonio, Texas, and includes material that was part of 2003’s Elvis: Close-Up box set, however it has been newly remixed for this release.

Tour rehearsals constitute CDs five and six. CD 5 has audio recorded live at RCA Recording Studios in Hollywood, California, on 30th and 31st March 1972. This is mostly unreleased, although some were issued on a couple of the specialist ‘Follow That Dream’ releases in 2001 and 2004 ( Elvis On Tour – The Rehearsals and Sunset Boulevard , respectively).

CD 6 is all completely unreleased and offers more of the 31 March rehearsals at RCA and includes unreleased takes on Kris Kristofferson’s ‘For The Good Times’. In total, this Elvis On Tour box set features a total of 145 audio tracks, 91 of which are previously unreleased .

The documentary on the blu-ray exists because filmmakers Pierre Adidge and Robert Abel went on the road with Elvis Presley to chronicle this tour. As well as the on-stage performances, the film includes backstage footage, with the original press release boasting that Elvis On Tour offered “the first intimate look at the enigmatic country boy who became the world’s most celebrated musician”. The MGM film would go on to win ‘Best Documentary Film’ at the 30th Golden Globes Awards, in 1973. This was released on VHS/Laserdisc in the early 1980s and was issued by Warner Home Video in 2010 on DVD and blu-ray.

The Elvis On Tour box set will be released on 27 January 2023 (was 2 December 2022) via RCA/Legacy Recordings

More From Forbes

Let us praise those who help ukraine’s culture fight back.

Having spent many a long year covering culture in war zones (among other topics) for the Wall Street Journal, this particular Forbes columnist learned the geo-strategic importance of culture the hard way. The current Russian regime understands it all too well, which is why they insist that Ukraine has no independent culture and why they keep targeting churches, town halls, community centers, museums, schools and the like. It’s also why we need to recognize and support Ukrainian cultural expressions - historical and contemporary - as a core concern in Ukraine’s fight to survive.

Why is culture so crucial in times of conflict? Readers will recall that, during the Blitz, and throughout the various fronts, Brits circulated theatre troupes and famous writers, collectively sang hymns and popular songs, protected artistic works in country while generally keeping culture ever alive in the presence of the beleaguered. They maintained that it ‘cheered up’ troops and civilians alike. But it does more than that. It gives you the sense of identity and community to bolster your inner resistance, to posit a collective consciousness that will continue even if you don’t.

It reminds you what you’re fighting for, what normalcy feels like, and what life will be like when peace returns - on your terms. Historical culture gives a sense of continuity: your people existed, exist and will do so in the future. Contemporary culture gives a feeling of there being reserves, functional zones, depths of human resources where artistic expression still flourishes - the ‘back home’ worth saving. A back home within you and without. And, of course, it allows artists of all media to filter and cohere and make shape out of chaos.

This columnist wrote an op-ed for the Wall Street Journal at the time of all the brouhaha when the Zelensky’s appeared in a glossy Vogue color feature back in August 1, 2022. The op-ed defended the photo-shoot with the argument that Ukraine must be allowed to celebrate its distinguishing sensibility, its preoccupation with the good life, with beauty, fashion, food, art, its sunnier identity compared to the predatory power-mad obsessions of its frozen northern neighbor. And we in the West must help Ukraine do just that - a country fabled for its fecund farmlands, and blessings of nature. It is, in effect, the Italy of the region with a comparably luminous lifestyle. If left alone to flourish. Which is precisely why Moscow insists on trying to sow poison in Ukraine’s consciousness through sheer vindictive envy.

And so it falls to the rest of us to support Ukraine’s dolce vita idylls and cultural endeavors. Here is a peerless heart-stirring article that won a journalism prize in the Irish Times about Kyiv’s nail salons (and much else), “The seemingly frivolous pursuits of beauty and fashion signal a determined endurance in hard times”. Bless the author Liz Cookman for honoring the female arts, the women who ply it, the crucial but oft overlooked steel in the country’s spine. Let us all keep a look-out for others who contribute to Ukraine’s soft-power side and praise them. To begin with, we can praise the sparkling achievements of Aksenia Krupenko who mounted a multi-dimensional artistic show, banquet and charity auction (with Christies) for Ukraine. The extravaganza took place at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London on July 22, entitled ‘The Art of Saving Lives’, symbolically much of it in the world-famous Raphael Room.

To quote the mission statement, “The Art of Saving Lives is on a mission of cultural unity, fostering connections between Ukraine and countries worldwide on the path toward humanity. The Art of Saving Lives is a unique charity project has five main goals: to empower creatives, preserve heritage, educate creators, facilitate cultural exchange, and, most importantly, catalyze a creative Renaissance.” Highly laudable but perhaps surprisingly luftmenschy in a time of war. Well, yes, but, any smart analyst who understands that culture comprises yet another front in the struggle against Russia must detect a deeper significance to the blurb than the seemingly feel-good sentences at first suggest.

Google Chrome Deadline—You Have 72 Hours To Update Your Browser

Hackers force chrome users to hand over google passwords, here’s how, today’s nyt mini crossword clues and answers for monday, september 16th.

What we see here, and what the audience witnessed in the performances, is a striving to universalize Ukraine’s struggle so that other cultures and countries identify with it. ‘Here’s what Moscow is trying to obliterate’, the underlying message unquestionably suggests, ‘a treasure that belongs to the world’. Above all, it’s an inspirational attempt to confront brutality with poetry and art. To that end, for example, one of the astonishing pieces of the unforgettable evening featured a multimedia dramatization by 3D artist Artem Ivanenko around images of Banksy’s artworks painted on the sides of ruined buildings around Kyiv. Another riveting tour de force featured famed violinist Moisei Bordanenko, freshly plucked from the front lines, playing in full combat camouflage to a rapt audience feasting on the multi-course creations of a famed Ukrainian chef, the Dubai-based ‘gastro-diplomat’ Yurii Kovryzhenko. Here is a review in the British press of the Victoria and Albert museum evening

Aksenia Krupenko, who conceived and organized the evening, deserves attention for her relentless energetic determination of the kind that embodies the spirit of Ukraine. Krupenko is based in Washington DC, is an event planner by profession, and the founder of Revival Foundation which has sent 13 Airbus 330s, 35 sea containers, and 650 tons of humanitarian aid and medical supplies to Ukraine since March 2022. As a result all hospitals in Ukrainian critical zones continuously receive medical equipment and supplies.

Now let us praise another non-profit of distinction, one that helped mount the museum evening, presently London-based and dedicated to global democracy, most notably Ukraine’s visual arts. The foundation is Art Shield led by the famed Anglo-French actor and artist Edward Akrout, with a historic location in Clerkenwell named the Old Session House. In that former courthouse, many were sentenced to deportation. Dickens worked there when young and observed the kinds of human dramas he later made into novels. In June, Art Shield launched a three-day celebration of Ukrainian culture there with art, live music (five bands) and panels that included the brave and beauteous and renowned TV correspondent of the war Shelby Wilder . The next location, this time a money-making gallery to help Ukrainian artists, will be in London’s fabulous Mayfair district.
