But there’s more to Albay, this massive province is oozing with raw appeal; flanked by vast, green farmlands, fishing towns, age-old churches, cave systems, aquamarine rivers, and lush mountains. You can also explore its rugged coastline, lapped by blue waters and dappled with tropical islands. Many of the rising tourist spots in Albay are blissfully uncharted by mass tourism, so best to visit soon before it gets too crowded.

To help you plan your trip, here’s a quick Albay + Legazpi Travel Guide with Legazpi itinerary and sample expenses and budget. Feel free to comment below if you want to suggest additional tourist spots in Legazpi and Albay, I didn’t include everything here as I’ve yet to visit them. But since Legazpi is just 3 hours away from my hometown, I can always travel there and update this Albay and Legazpi travel blog in the future.

GETTING AROUND LEGAZPI/ALBAY

Albay is a province in Bicol region, composed of 15 towns and 3 component cities (Legazpi, Tabaco, and Ligao). Most of the tourist spots in Albay are located in Daraga, Camalig, and Jovellar.  For island hopping in Albay, it’s near Tabaco.  So most likely, these are the areas that you will visit during your Albay and Legazpi itinerary –  Daraga, Camalig,  Jovellar, Legazpi City, and then Tabaco, if you plan to travel to Mayon Skyline or do island hopping in Albay.

There are many public vehicles in Legazpi and Albay, you can use them to get around.

Tricycles – There’s an abundance of tricycle in Legazpi city center that can take your directly to your destination.  This is your best bet if doing a DIY trip, so you’ll be able to visit the places in your Albay and Legazpi itinerary. Rate depends on the distance of your destination. I always use the tricycle when getting around Legazpi, even going to the airport. But always ask and negotiate the price before hopping in. Tricycle drivers in Legazpi are infamous for overcharging tourists. For short distance ride, for example, within Legazpi city center only, it shouldn’t cost you more than ₱20 ($0.38). If you’re in downtown Legazpi and you plan to go to Daraga area, it could cost you roughly ₱100 ($2) up.

Taxi – Cabs are available in Legazpi, always use the meter.  But you can charter a taxi for your Legazpi/Albay day tour. If you’ll hire the taxi for a day, make sure you negotiate the price first,  discuss the destinations in your Legazpi itinerary first, before hopping in. Usually chartered taxi rates start at roughly ₱3,500 ($67) for a day tour, good for 4 passengers.

Jeepneys – A cheap way to get around Legazpi and Albay is by jeepney.  Fare starts at ₱10 ($0.19) from Daraga to Legazpi and vice versa. However, you need to know the routes to avoid riding the wrong one. You can read the route painted on the side of the jeepney and ask the driver to make sure it’ll pass by your destination.

Here’s some of the Legazpi jeepney routes that you might use during your  Legazpi trip if you want to commute or do a DIY Legazpi itinerary:

  • Daraga-Legazpi Loop 1: This is the jeep that you can take to get to Ligñon Hill and Albay Park and Wildlife.
  • Daraga – Legazpi (Tahao Road): . This is the jeep that you can take to get to the bus station (Legazpi Grand Central Terminal). You can also leave your luggage at the luggage counter in Pacific Mall while you do your last-minute shopping or at SM Legazpi.

JOVELLAR UNDERGROUND RIVER AND SIGPIT FALLS (Quitinday Underground River and Falls)

Though popularly known as Quitinday Underground River and Waterfalls, it is actually located in the town of Jovellar in Albay.  My guess is, because this is usually combined with a trip to Quitinday Hills, visitors must have assumed at first that it is located in Quitinday. The 2-tiered falls is actually called Sigpit Falls by the locals; its water originates from the Jovellar Underground River. Best time to see its teal water is during summer, as it becomes brownish during the rainy season.

MAYON SKYLINE

Location: Tabaco

About an hour away from Legazpi City is Mayon Skyline, you can visit this before or after your island-hopping trip in Albay since it’s in Tabaco. It has one of the best views of Mayon Volcano, but time your trip during a good weather because Mayon is usually blocked by clouds. Your best bet is an early morning visit as it can get rather cloudy in the afternoon. Otherwise, just try your luck in Cagsawa Ruins, Ligñon Hill, Sumlang Lake, Daraga Church, or Embarcadero.

ALBAY ISLAND HOPPING

Albay isn’t just about Mayon Volcano. There are also islands and beaches that you can visit in the province. A convenient jumping off point of Albay island hopping is Tabaco Port. From here, the islands are about 45 minutes to 1 hour by outrigger boats.

Here are some  of the islands that you can visit, they are located in Malilipot, Bacacay, and Tabaco:

Cagraray Eco Park

The final leg of our 5-day ALMASOR tour allowed us a day to explore Albay; the Queen City of Southern Luzon. I noticed improvements the moment we landed at Legazpi International Airport from the last time that I’d been there. It’s undeniably, one of my favorite airports in the country because of the clear view of Mayon volcano.

Legazpi Airport

View of Mayon from Airport

It was July of 2014 when I last visited Albay.I remember giving this airport a 5-star rating when I reviewed it on Looloo regardless, if it looks old, small, and simple. I love how clean and organize the airport is. Back then, I’m hopeful that the local government will allocate funds to improve Legazpi Airport.

And my prayer was answered immediately. In August 2015, the renovation of the airport was completed. I was impressed when I saw its eco-friendly inspired facade. There was also a wide glass wall that provides passenger a majestic view of Mayon. The building has become well-ventilated, clean, and spacious. I also like their restrooms, which are better than those in NAIA.

As we toured around the city, I couldn’t help but reminisce all my good experiences in this province. I love Bicolanos because they are one of the most hospitable people I’ve met during my travels here in the Philippines. Other improvements going on is the construction of Bicol International Airport, which is expected to be operational in July 2017. The newly international airport is expected to trigger economic growth in the region.

What to do in Albay?

I did ATV in different parts of the country and I could say that Mayon ATV is still the best place to do this adventure when it comes to experience and view. My first experience was in a shorter trail, about less than an hour [Read the review here] , but this time, I tried the Mayon base camp trail. It’s a 2-hour adventure going to the camp and 15-minute walk going to the helipad.

The path leading to the base camp was stunning. The moment we started driving, it all felt like yesterday. I can still remember the joy of driving on the river bed and getting wet. The wide grassland with cows everywhere. The adrenaline of driving on a rocky and uneven road was like an aphrodisiac to me.

Mayon ATV

On our way to base camp

What made this adventure even more exciting is the idea that you can come closer to Mayon where you can get the most picturesque view of the volcano, one of the most famous and active volcanoes in the Philippines.

Mayon Volcano

View of Mayon Volcano from helipad

We had a short break when we arrived to the camp then trekked all the way to the helipad. It could be one of the unobstructed places to see Mayon. On our way down there was a zip line back to the base camp.

Where to eat in Albay?

I could testify that food in this part of the country is one of the most delicious dishes in the Philippines. Some of my favorite Bicolano dishes are Ginataang bagongon, Inon-on na isda, Tinutungan na manok, Gising-gising, Pili pulp with patis, and Laing.

Gising Gising

Tourism Promotions Board brought us to one of the oldest traditional houses in Albay converted into a family owned restaurant, the Balay Cena Una from Bicolano word “Balay” means house and Cena Una or “Sinauna” means ancient or old fashion.

Balay Cena Una

Balay Cena Una

The moment I stepped inside the restaurant, I immediately felt the homey ambiance of the place. It feels like I’m visiting my grandmother’s house in the province or visiting a classy old grand house with a twist of modern design.

Balay Cena Una

Inside Balay Cena Una

Ms. Angel Villanueva-Reyes, the manager of the restaurant warmly welcomed us to Balay Cena Una. She told us that their restaurant started back in 2006 but due to the wrath of Typhoon Reming that heavily affected the Bicol region, they had to close the business for a while and turned their resto into a mobile kitchen that fed people from different barangays in the area.

During that time, a member of US Navy asked help from their family to feed Filipino volunteers they brought in the region. Without a second thought, their family extended their help and that is how he met this US navy guy who later became her husband. I believe that Balay Cena Una can stand the test of time since its foundation was kindness, generosity, and love.

Our lunch started with some appetizers, pako (wild fern) and pumpkin soup, followed by my favorite Chicken Tinotongan (smoked chicken cooked with coconut milk and papaya). I swear that you shouldn’t miss this food the next time you visit Bicol. We also had mixed sweet and sour seafood, their very own Lumpia Sorpresa (they call it sopresa or surprise in English because what’s inside the wrapped spring rolls differ from one another). You can have pork, tinapa (smoked fish), or kandingga (pork organs) and my other favorite Gising-gising (Green bean with Pork in Coconut milk).

Lumpia Sorpresa

Ms. Reyes always told us that we should have some room for dessert, she always told people to wait for the dessert because that’s the highlight of their meal. We had their signature cake, sili (chili) ice cream, and tinutungan (toasted coconut) ice cream.  I was delighted with all the food that they served.

Where to stay in Albay?

I was so excited when I saw the hotel where we would be staying in Albay. Being a self-proclaimed hotel enthusiast, one definition of heaven to me is staying at a luxury hotel and thinking of a luxurious break in the region, someone shouldn’t miss Misibis Bay , probably the only 5-star hotel in the province.

Misibis bay

We arrived past 6:00 p.m at Misibis. From the Airport, travel time is less than an hour. Located at Cagraray Island, the staff of this private island resort welcomed us with drinks and wooden bracelet. I can’t help but be amazed at how modern their facilities are. I personally loved their stylish architecture on how rooms/villa was designed. Despite the extravagant vibes, the feeling was homey. It seems like you’re inside a posh village. Misibis bay is really not your typical upscale hotel.

Luxury Hotel Philippines

Imagine how huge this 5-hectare island resort, which for a more convenient check-in we have to ride a golf cart going to our room. We got a one bedroom deluxe, one of the most classy rooms I’ve ever stayed in. It’s a 65-sqm room with 2 double size beds; the comforter was thick and irresistibly soft.

misibis bay villa

Misibis bay villa

The main room is connected to the restroom, which has a bathtub and toiletries are all l’occitane. Our common area has a daybed and next to it is the dining area with a mini bar set up. What made this room surprising is the back door connected to the pool area. Every corner of our room is like taken from a magazine cover; tranquil, luxurious, and exclusive.

Misibis bay offers various land and water activities to check the complete list please click this link .

Misibis bay is also less than a 30-minute walk from Cagraray Ecopark where you can see their famous amphitheater which one of the pitstops of Amazing Race Asia 4.

Cagraray Ecopark

The Bicol region is truly blessed with natural wonders, great food, and warm people. Albay is also fortunate to have the perfect shape volcano gracefully standing in their province. In fact, it has been named as one of the world’s most photogenic volcanoes by CNN Travels. Gone were the days where Bicol region was one of the least visited provinces in the country. Today, it’s one of the fastest growing tourist destinations in the Philippines.

This is a great article about Albay, Cai! 🙂 I really missed our campsite in Cagraray Eco Energy Park, where the famous Ampitheater was located as well as the Stella Maris Chapel.

I will definitely go back to Albay soon, maybe next year and hopefully, climb Mt. Mayon 🙂 Great that you are able to document the things to do in Albay 🙂

' src=

Ihave never been to Albay! Shame! I would love to see the beauty of Mayon Volcano someday. I was just curious, how spicy is the chili ice cream? Were you able to finish it? Is it good?

Cagraray Ecopark reminds me of the ancient Greek mythology, it’s nice! And on Misibis bay, I have a friend who asked me to check out their web rates, grabe, their regular rate is so pricey, I don’t think I personally would be able to afford that! lol. I haven’t been to Albay yet, I wonder when we’ll be able to go there, I’d really love to see the Mayon!

' src=

' src=

Saving this info for our hopefully next year Albay trip. Fingers crossed. 🙂

' src=

It is always my dream to go to Bicol, mainly because of the Mayon. I also heard so many good things about Bicol that is why I really wanted to visit. I hope one day, with the whole family. Thanks for sharing!

' src=

What a beautiful place, Cai! I’d love to stay at this resort and enjoy all it has to offer. I’ve not yet been to the Philippines, but living in Manitoba, Canada, I believe we have the largest number of Filipinos out side of the Philippines, so I’ve eaten a lot of the food and love it. The Gising-Gising is new to me and I think I would love it.

' src=

I like the idea of lumpiang sorpresa. It’s something I don’t see anywhere and it’s my first time to hear of it too! This is also a good guide for those who are interested to visit Albay one day, at least those who don’t have any idea at all!

' src=

Misibis is on my bucket list, we’re supposed to avail their promo last year but since my husband and son cannot afford to be absent for four days, we let it go na lang. Sayang, ok pa naman package na offer nila sa Travel Expo.

' src=

We hope to head back to Philippines in December…may have to add Bicol to our list. Thanks for the info.

' src=

Wow, that resort looks a bit big for my tastes.

Are there more humble options, or even hostels?

' src=

Ohhhh so Misibis Bay is in Bicol!! I’ve heard of feedbacks from fellow wedding suppliers who had wedding shoots there. The rooms and the whole place looks really big and classy. I’d say it has more than enough space for wedding preps. I also love the Ecopark where the couple could probably have their wedding ceremony and the guests are surrounding them. I’m not sure if you mentioned how much it costs to stay at Misibis Bay. Would like to check that out.

Hello Dominic,

You can try to check the rate at Agoda link in the article for discounted price 😉

' src=

Oh, Albay. I dream of visiting you someday! Hihi. I’d like to personally see the picturesque Mayon Volcano. Hopefully someday me and my family will be able to travel to Albay. And Be able to check-in at Misibis Bay Resort! Ang ganda eh.

' src=

Wow! After reading your post, I now feel the urge to go and visit Bicol! I wanna try ATV-ing in Mayon, I want to see how perfect the volacano’s shape is, I want to go to Misibis Bay and feel sexy (LOL! It’s the tv show on ch.5 that would immediately come in my head everytime I hear Misibis Bay.) Plus, I think I would enjoy the Bicolano’s foods since I’m a big lover of gata/coconut milk. Argh! I’m now drooling. 😀

' src=

My dad is from Albay and been there as well but on Misibis Bay. I heard that it is a bit pricey there, is that true? I am planning to explore Albay more on my next visit.

You can get a discounted price at Misibis using my agoda link inside the article 🙂

' src=

Everything is just fantastic, Cai! That view from the airport, I can stare at it allllll day 😂 Your ATV activity also looks so much fun. The hotel looks very cozy and stylish. I will probably do a 24-hour staycation in Albay with these ❤️

' src=

Cai, the airport in LGP is not yet an international one. 😊 This made me miss home so much. Haha. Born and raised in Legazpi, proud Albayana here! I’d recommend other places for you to visit the next time you’re there. For people who are from there, staying at Misibis is very luxurious but always worth it if you like to enjoy the beach.

Thanks for the info Maria, but when I googled LGP its always stated that it is an international airport. I have to correct it 🙂

' src=

Albay is such a beautiful place as youve described it in your post. Would love to eat pili nuts and walk around its famous mountain. Of course with my family.

' src=

It’s my dream to stay in Misibis Bay but I find it too expensive. I’m not writing off the possibility though. I also want to see Mayon and have a gastronomic feast in Albay.

Wow!!!! Hay, when will I ever be able to visit Albay/Bicol kaya? Sigh! hahaha. But I’m still keeping my hopes up that one day I’ll be able to visit the place with my family in the future. ♥ I’d love to visit these places too!

' src=

Nice, Cai. I used to go to Bicol region every other week. Back then wala pa ang Misibis. Towards the end of my tenure in Bicol, Misibis was being started pa lang. The owner of Misibis, Zaldy, is the brother of a good friend of mine, Congressman Christopher Co.

It has been so long na since I last went there and everything you wrote about I do not recognize anymore. BUT, it is Bicol, and Albay. The majestic Mayon Volcano will always be there.

(Note: Phrases from Camalig Church, Embarcadero de Legazpi, Cagsawa Ruins)

The Enigmatic Cagsawa Ruins: Echoes of Destruction and Resilience

Nestled in the heart of Albay Province lies the hauntingly beautiful Cagsawa Ruins, a poignant testimony to the power and fury of nature. The ruins stand as a stark reminder of the devastating eruption that occurred on February 1, 1814, when Mayon Volcano unleashed its wrath upon the region. Once a thriving Franciscan church, the eruption engulfed Cagsawa and buried it under tons of volcanic ash.

Today, all that remains are fragments of its past glory. As you walk among the remnants of this historical site, you can almost feel the echoes of destruction and resilience intertwined.

The iconic bell tower stands tall amidst the ruins like a sentinel guarding its fallen brethren. This picturesque scene has become an emblematic symbol not just for Albay Province but for the entire Philippines .

Photographers flock to capture this striking juxtaposition between nature’s destructive forces and man-made structures frozen in time. Against the backdrop of Mayon Volcano , whose majestic presence seems both serene and intimidating, visitors can snap breathtaking shots that encapsulate both beauty and tragedy.

Daraga Church: A Testament to Baroque Beauty

Just a stone’s throw away from Cagsawa Ruins lies another architectural marvel: Our Lady of the Gate Parish Church, more commonly known as Daraga Church. This magnificent structure is a shining example of Spanish colonial influence blended with indigenous craftsmanship.

As you approach Daraga Church, your eyes are immediately drawn to its intricate facade adorned with ornate carvings depicting biblical scenes and mythical creatures. Each detail tells a story – an artful fusion between Christian devotion and local folklore.

Step inside this grand sanctuary, and you’ll be greeted by awe-inspiring interiors replete with gilded altars bearing religious icons dating back centuries. Rays of sunlight filter through stained glass windows, casting a kaleidoscope of colors upon the polished wooden pews.

The church’s history is as fascinating as its architecture. Built-in the late 18th century, it has withstood the test of time and witnessed Albay Province’s transformation from Spanish colonization to its present-day vibrant culture.

Uncovering Albay’s Historical Tapestry

Beyond Cagsawa Ruins and Daraga Church, Albay Province reveals a tapestry of historical sites that recount tales from centuries past. From the Joroan Church in Tiwi to Tabaco City Church, each structure narrates a chapter in Albay’s rich heritage.

Jordan Church, with its simple yet elegant design, stands as one of the oldest churches in Albay. Its whitewashed walls and traditional bell tower exudes a sense of tranquility that transports visitors to a bygone era.

Meanwhile, Tabaco City Church beckons with its distinct red-brick facade and intricate architectural details.

Built during the early Spanish colonial period, this church has been witness to countless religious ceremonies and cultural events throughout history. As you explore these historical landmarks, you’ll gain insights into how Albay Province has evolved while cherishing its roots and preserving its cultural identity.

Spanish Colonial Splendor meets Breathtaking Landscape

Albay Province is not only home to architectural marvels but also boasts breathtaking natural landscapes. The convergence of history and nature can be witnessed at the Cagsawa Ruins and Daraga Church themselves but also at other iconic sites such as Quitinday Green Hills Formation Reserve and Vera Falls.

Quitinday Green Hills Formation Reserve features rolling hills covered in lush vegetation that resemble verdant waves frozen in time. As you hike through this ethereal landscape, you’ll be rewarded with panoramic views that encompass Mayon Volcano on one side and shimmering beaches on the other, like Bacacay Beach.

Vera Falls, with its cascading waters and emerald green pool, offers a refreshing respite from the tropical heat. This hidden gem is tucked away amid Albay’s dense forests, inviting visitors to immerse themselves in its serene beauty.

These natural wonders provide a harmonious backdrop to Albay’s historical sites, reinforcing the notion that history and nature are intertwined in this picturesque province. Albay Province’s cultural landmarks and historical sites offer a captivating blend of architectural splendor and a storied past.

From the enigmatic Cagsawa Ruins standing as a testament to nature’s might to Daraga Church’s baroque beauty and rich history, each site unveils an aspect of Albay’s heritage worth exploring. As you delve deeper into these gems scattered throughout the province, you’ll discover that Albay is not only defined by its imposing Mayon Volcano but also by its fascinating historical tapestry woven with resilience, faith, and a deep love for its roots.

LEGAZPI ALBAY TRAVEL GUIDE: Mayon Volcano and 6 Best Things To Do

Legazpi City which is popularly known as the City of Fun and Adventure, is the home of the world-famous Mount Mayon — a perfect-cone shaped volcano and also the most active one in the Philippines . Legazpi is a capital of the Province of Albay in the Bicol Region offering a fusion of nature, adventure, culture experience, and delicious must-try cuisines with locals that warmly welcomes you.

Why travel to Legazpi City in Albay? Simple, because of Mount Mayon. As a first time tourist in Legazpi, even before the plane has landed, I was wowed by the greatness of Mayon even though I only saw the tip of it through the window of an airplane at 6 AM.

There is no other way that I can explain the feeling of seeing something famous and historical. It was an emotional experience for me ’cause I only see it in Philippine history books and the glimpse of it felt unreal.

6 Best Things To Do in Legazpi City, Albay

Legazpi maybe famous for Mount Mayon, but I was surprised about everything that I have experienced. While the purpose wasn’t actually to tour Legazpi, I had a great adventure in a short span of time. Given the time constraints, here are the best things to do that I did in Legazpi, Albay.

1. MAYON VOLCANO ATV ADVENTURE – Best Thing To Do in Legazpi

Mount Mayon being the must-see and the top tier attraction in Legazpi, I need to gaze at it in the best way possible that I can. The only way that you can feast your eyes on looking her majesty is through an ATV adventure.

atv adventure legazpi albay

Mayon Volcano ATV adventure is the best thing to do in Legazpi. I booked the Mount Mayon SkyDrive ATV Experience through Klook . Regardless if you have tried ATV before or not, you will be practicing for a couple of minutes on the ground practice area before going to your chosen trail.

I chose the Skydrive grassland trail for ₱500 in 20-30 minutes activity time ’cause I just want to take photos of Mayon. But I highly suggest to book its best selling Skydrive Combo Trail in 50-60 minutes for ₱1,250. You will be passing through the extreme route of Sykdrive river, then go to snake trail, and then Cagsawa Forest Trail. I know it’s worth it.

💡   PRO TIP : Mayon Volcano ATV Adventure is best to do in the morning as early as 6:30 AM because of lesser clouds around Mount Mayon, so you can actually see its symmetric volcano cones clearly.

2. CAGSAWA RUINS — Best Tourist Attraction in Legazpi

To be able to see Mount Mayon is already overwhelming but the sight of it with another historical landmark in Cagsawa Ruins Park was beyond breathtaking.

cagsawa ruins park legazpi

Cagsawa Ruins is the best tourist attraction in Legazpi. It is located just outside the city of Daraga. Being the most popular tourist destination, this is where you can spend so much of your time taking photos, doing activities, shopping souvenirs, and try authentic Bicol food. It has an environmental fee of ₱20 for adult.

💡   PRO TIP: On your first day in Legazpi, visit Cagsawa ruins first because it has almost everything that you need to try and experience such as visiting the Bicol National museum, trying chili ice cream, ATV rides and more. Go there as early as 7AM before it gets too crowded, have lunch, and shop for souvenirs.

3. DARAGA CHURCH — Best Church in Legazpi

The best view of Mount Mayon is when you’re in Daraga Church. If you’re lucky enough that she’s not hiding behind the clouds, you’ll get the perfect parallel eye level of her. This late 18th century church is standing there as a sign of unwavering faith of Bicolanos and their resilience.

LegazpiAlbay 03

Situated on a hilltop with a commanding view of Mayon Volcano, Daraga Church is one of the most visited churches in Albay. It is also known as Our Lady of the Gate or the church of Nuestra Senora de la Porteria and has been declared a National Cultural Treasure in 2007 and a National Historical Landmark in 2008. With those recognitions, Daraga Church must be on top of your list when you visit Legazpi.

4. NATIONAL MUSEUM BICOL

The NM Bicol Regional Museum (National Museum Bicol) is located next to the Cagsawa Church Ruins, a National Cultural Treasure (NCT).

Its exhibitions will feature the unique geological landscapes of Bicol that will underscore the marvels of Mayon. The museum is open everyday except Monday. If you have plan on visiting Bicol Regional museum, I advise to not schedule your Cagsawa Ruins Park that falls on Monday It saves you lots of time. Admission is free plus you get to visit their butterfly garden just beside the museum.

5. PINANGAT AND BICOL EXPRESS BAGNET — Best Food To Try in Legazpi

Bicol is known for dishes that owe its texture and creaminess to coconut milk (gata) and its spicy kick to chilis. The food culture in Bicol region has much excitement to offer that’s why it’s a gastronomic adventure I didn’t miss in Legazpi.

LegazpiAlbay 07

Among the best of Bicol is the Pinangat. This one is made of fish or shrimp wrapped in gabi or yam leaves and cooked in, of course, coconut milk. Bicol

How To Get To Legazpi CITY, Albay?

Getting around the city of legazpi.

Finding transportation is fairly easy in the city of Legazpi. Public utility vehicles such as tricycles, jeepneys, UV Express vans, and taxis are available. Good news to travelers that loves to pay extra just to be convenient, Grab car is now fully operational in Legazpi City. The grab fare from Bicol International Airport to an Airbnb in Daraga, Legazpi is around ₱400 – ₱500. It’s way cheaper than taking taxi honestly.

that’s a beautiful Mayon and a beautiful you. Glad to see new angles of the volcano and of the church. I haven’t been there. How I wish I could travel there someday.

Legazpi and the whole Albay is beautiful. I used to live there during my university days and I love it. But one thing that makes me keep on coming back to Legazpi is not actually the Mayon Volcano, but the people I’ve met through the years. I love dining to this small food kiosk that serve comfort food (lugaw with eggs) each night near Albay Astrodome. Food is indeed making the place standout.

Thank you very much! Bicolano food is indeed good.

I've never been to Bicol, so it's lovely to have vicariously traveled there through this blog. Hoping for better days when we can travel freely and safely.

Hi Ivan, I'm from Albay! Reading your post is making me miss Albay so much. Nakakahiya man aminin but I'm from that province, but I haven't got the opportunity to fully explore my own place. Wasn't a priority back then. Our last visit was in 2019 where we rented a car for a week (Php10k lang!) and we drove in some of the destination that we pass through, no itinerary pero sulit!

I’ve been to Albay for an event 3 years ago and yes ang ganda ng Albay. Sana we could all back to normal so we can go back there. -Dear Maje

A friend of mine lives somewhere there and I always wanted to come and visit. Would totally put all these activities in our itinerary!

Wow, this is actually a great list however, I never been to Bicol and planning to travel soon pag okay na lang lahat.

thanks for this! nagpunta na ako dito sa albay pero hindi ko masyado na enjoy. nakapag mayon ako pero we had to travel to masbate kasi kaya ayun di ko na naexperience ang iba pa. looking forward to visiting this again with my son

omg I wanna cry, I miss traveling :D Bicol was my last travel pre-pandemic. I didn't get to explore tho because we only stayed for a couple of days in Misibis Bay, but Bicol is really one of my favorite places I've been into. Thank you for sharing this. I can try them when I go back because I really wanna go back T_____T

There are so many things to do in Albay plus I love that perfect shape of Mayon Volcano. I also like the idea of riding a train from Manila to Bicol. That would be so fun and full of adventure. I wish PH can also make a KTX just like here in Korea.

Sorsogon actually has quite a lot to offer in terms of tourist spots and places to visit.

Yes, I've always wanted to visit Sorsogon. Thank you for the recommendation.

I've never visited there but would love to, I was so impressed with everything in the Philippines, ro rich in scenery!!

On our first day, Rikka Atole took us to the Cagsawa Ruins for a walk followed by ATV. Bico was gracious to take our photos while guiding us through the wilderness at the foot of Mount Mayon. Next stop was Camalig for Quituinan and Sumlang Lake. Finally had late lunch at Dreamers Cafe. Then we pushed forward to Tiwi Pottery. Our second day consisted of two beautiful waterfalls- Busay and Vera. They are about an hour from each other. We had lunch at Gamboa's Orchard which is lovingly decorated with a lot of Santa Claus decor. Our driver for the first day is John then Mark for the second day. They were polite and made sure we were comfortable and enjoying our trip. Rikka is incredible! She took our picture even if it meant walking on narrow rice pathways or going between large boulders. She really took the extra mile for posterity. Overall, I would recommend GUIDE TO THE PHILIPPINES to friends and relatives.
