What To Do in Tours, France (Guide + Map)
- Milena Yordanova
- August 20, 2024
Located just an hour away by train from Paris, Tours is often used as a base for visiting the chateaux of Loire Valley. It is one of the largest cities in the Centre-Val de Loire region of France, well connected by public transport to the most famous castles in the area. Indeed, from here, you can easily reach the historic palaces of Chenonceau, Chambord, Blois and Amboise.
Once the capital of France, today Tours is a lively city boasting a beautiful historic centre with half-timbered houses and gourmet bistros. A perfect stop on your way through the Loire Valley!
What to do in Tours, France in one day
Thanks to its central location and excellent public transport connections to the nearby towns, Tours is a great base to discover the chateaux of Loire. This is one of the main cities I’d recommend you to base yourself in, especially if you’re travelling by train.
Besides being an excellent base for touring the historic chateaux, Tours itself is worth at least half a day of exploring. Take a walk along the narrow cobbled streets while admiring the half-timbered houses, the impressive Saint-Gatien Cathedral and the Renaissance Hotel Gouïn.
Follow my itinerary to discover the best things to do in Tours, France for one day. You’ll also find what are the most famous chateaux to visit near the city and some restaurant recommendations.
At the end of the blog post, you can find a map of this itinerary (with all attractions and restaurants’ websites).

- Admire Hôtel Goüin
Lunch at Les Gens Heureux

09:00 AM – 10:00 AM Start your one day in Tours with breakfast at L’Atelier du Talemelier or Kat’s Coffee . L’Atelier du Talemelier is a great bakery which offers quality pastries and sandwiches. However, if you prefer to enjoy some delicious cakes with your coffee, head to Kat’s Coffee.
Basilique Saint-Martin de Tours
10:00 AM – 10:25 AM Basilique Saint-Martin de Tours (Basilica of St. Martin) is dedicated to Saint Martin of Tours, the third bishop of Tours. It was built over the traditional burial site of the saint in the 5th century AD. During the centuries, the small basilica was replaced several times with larger structures.
The basilica in a Neo-byzantine style that you see today dates from the 19th century. However, you can still see some of the remains of the older Romanesque edifice – the western clock tower and Tour de Charlemagne (Charlemagne Tower). They are located just a few steps away from the current church.
Inside the crypt, you’ll find the tomb of Saint Martin.
10:30 AM – 10:45 AM Tour de l’Horloge (Clock Tower) and Tour de Charlemagne are the only remnants of the impressive structure of the 11th-century Romanesque Basilica of Saint Martin.
Tour de Charlemagne was built on the site of the tomb of Luitgard, the last wife of Charlemagne. The king was so greatly affected by her death in 800, that he decided that Luitgard would be buried in the Basilica of Saint Martin. In the 19th century, the Charlemagne Tower was converted into a water tower.
Although, it’s not possible to visit the towers, take a few moments and admire their structure. Just imagine the grandeur of the 11th-century Romanesque basilica, of which these towers were part!
Place Plumereau
10:50 AM – 11:05 AM Place Plumereau is the heart of the historic centre of Tours. It is a lively square with bars and restaurants, framed by charming 15th-century half-timbered houses. A popular place to sit and watch the world go by!
The square is named in honour of Charles Plumereau, a municipal councillor of Tours, who bequeathed 3000 francs to the city.
Hôtel Goüin
11:15 AM – 11:30 AM This Renaissance palace served as a private mansion of a family of silk merchants in the 15th century. The façade with its beautiful arches is a real masterpiece of the Italian Renaissance. So don’t miss to take a quick look and admire the exterior!
Hôtel Goüin is named after a family of Breton bankers who purchased the building in 1738. And don’t be fooled by the word hotel, this is not an actual hotel, but a museum for temporary art exhibitions.
12:00 PM – 02:00 PM For lunch head to Les Gens Heureux . This typical French restaurant offers a small selection of interesting dishes with a unique combination of flavours.
Saint-Gatien Cathedral
02:00 PM – 02:30 PM Tours Cathedral (Cathédrale Saint-Gatien) is dedicated to the first bishop of Tours – Saint Gatianus. Built between 1170 and 1547, it reflects the development of the Gothic style of architecture. Some of the cathedral’s highlights include the spectacular 13th-14th century stained glass windows and an Italian-style organ.
The cathedral houses the tombs of the children of Anne de Bretagne and Charles VII. Also, you’ll find a chapel dedicated to Joan of Arc. She had met with Charles VII here in Tours, an important meeting which became a turning point in the Hundred Years’ War.
02:45 PM – 03:00 PM The last stop of this Tours itinerary is the town hall, Hôtel de Ville de Tours. Take your time and enjoy its magnificent Renaissance Revival façade.
The town hall was built between 1896 and 1904 by the famous architect Victor Laloux. It is the same architect who designed the Orsay museum in Paris!
Dinner at La Maison des Halles
Finish your one day in Tours with dinner at La Maison des Halles . The wine list here is great and the menu is excellent (don’t miss the desserts – the best I’ve had during a week in France).
More ideas for your one day in Tours, France
Museum of fine arts.
The Museum of Fine Arts (Musée des Beaux-Arts) is housed in the former bishop’s palace. The museum owns a remarkable collection of Italian Primitives from the 14th-15th centuries. Among them are two renaissance paintings by Andrea Mantegna, considered masterpieces. You’ll also find many artworks by Delacroix, Degas, Monet, Rembrandt, Rubens and Rodin.
Don’t miss the staggering cedar tree at the museum entrance, which is over 200 years old!
Castle of Tours
Close to the cathedral, you’ll find the Castle of Tours (Château de Tours). Built in the 11th century, this small chateau served as a residence of the Carolingian dynasty. Today, it houses contemporary exhibitions of paintings and photographs .
Church of Saint Julien
The Church of Saint Julien (Église Saint-Julien de Tours) is a part of a former Benedictine abbey founded in the 6th century. Most of the church is in Romanesque style and dates back to the 13th century.
Tours Botanical Garden
Founded in 1843, the Botanical Garden (Jardin Botanique de Tours) is the oldest city park. It’s a lovely area with lots of wildlife and thematic gardens – greenhouses, orchards, medical gardens, arboretums and many others. There is also a petting zoo with farm animals like donkeys, sheep, rabbits and poultry!

Musée de Compagnonnage occupies the dormitory at the former Abbey of Saint-Julien. This quirky museum is dedicated to the city’s trade guilds. The exhibition represents various objects related to metalwork, tailoring, culinary, shoemaking and woodcarving.

Visit Tours (Centre-Loire Valley, France)
The town of Tours is in the Indre-et-Loire department of the Centre region (the Loire Valley), and it is the largest town in the region. A busy, thriving town Tours is also only an hour to the south-west of Paris .
Exploring Tours
France This Way review: in Tours you will discover an extensive medieval historic centre, an imposing cathedral and cloisters, modern shopping streets and several other important monuments: together these make the town a very interesting and enjoyable destination to visit.
If possible, start your visit with a visit to Tours Tourist office on Rue Bernard Palissy to the south-east of the centre: this is adjacent to the car park on Rue Général Leclerc so we suggest you park there if arriving by car. The tourist office have lots of useful information about hidden sites and places you might not otherwise discover, such as a route for wine tasting...
One of the main attractions in Tours is the historic centre of the old town, in and around Place Plumereau. Around the edges of the square there are beautiful 12th to 15th century half timbered houses and some houses that also include fascinating features such as the carved figures on the facade of the house on the corner with Rue du Commerce.
The square is also filled with cafes and open air seating, so it’s a great place to sit and have a drink.
After exploring the streets in the historic centre, if you walk a short distance south along Rue du Change you reach another group of interesting buildings including the Tour Charlemagne, built over the tomb of Luitgarde, the wife of Charlemagne, and the Basilica Saint-Martin.
Inside the Basilica Saint-Martin , built in Tours in the 19th century in the neo-byzantine style, you can admire the painting of the dome and in the crypt of the church is the tomb of Saint-Martin, one of the most important pilgrimage destinations in France.
There are a number of grand houses dating from the Renaissance period along Rue du Commerce, to the east of the old town. Our favourite is the Hotel Gouin with a lovely Renaissance façade: the archeaology museum is now housed in the building.
At the end of Rue du Commerce you can see another impressive religious monument, the Church of Saint-Julien, that combines both roman and gothic styles of architecture.
Cathedral Saint-Gatien and La Psalette cloisters
The Cathedral Saint-Gatien, the most important religious monument in Tours, is at the east end of Rue Commerce and Rue Colbert, and contains the tombs of the children of Charles VIII. Most notable, although part of the cathedral dates from the 12th century, much of the western end was built in the 15th century in so-called 'flamboyant gothic' style.
Adjacent to the cathedral are the cloisters of la Psalette - an impressive structure in a mix of architectural styles with elaborate stonework and a beautiful renaissance staircase. In part of the cloisters you can see the room where religious chanting was practiced. The cloisters are listed as one of 85 National Monuments in France.
See our separate guide for information about Tours cathedral and the la Psalette cloisters .
Other monuments in Tours
Next to the cathedral is the Museum of Fine Arts housed in the Archbishops Palace. You should stroll around the pretty gardens even if you are not going into the museum. There is also a cedar tree in the garden of the Archbishops palace, famous for being planted by Napoleon.
Next to the river on the other side of the cathedral you can see the Chateau of Tours, although only two towers now remain. The Tour de Guise houses a wax-work museum and a Tropical Aquarium.
If you walk south along Rue Nationale from the Church of Saint-Julien you can pause to do some shopping then continue to Place Jean Jaures to see two very impressive classical style buildings dating from Tours period of prosperity in the 18th century: the Palais de Justice and the Hotel de Ville.
As you would expect of a major town such as Tours you will also find a wide range of shops, restaurants and all other commerces. There are also markets held in different parts of the town almost every day of the week.
Parcs and gardens in Tours
For a change from the bustle of the streets there are several public parks and gardens in Tours. We enjoyed a visit to the Botanic gardens, an extensive area of trees, gardens and water features opposite the Bretonneau Hospital to the west of the centre and also a stroll around the Jardin des Prébendes d'Oé to the south of Tours town centre (rue Roger Salengro).
There are many others that we did not unfortunately have time to visit, which you will find on the map given out by the tourist office in Tours.
Attractions nearby
Of course no visit to the Loire Valley would be complete without visiting a castle or two, and several of the most important castles, towns and villages are within easy reach of Tours.
Among our favourites, the gardens at Château de Villandry are a short distance along the river to the west of Tours, and in the pretty town of Amboise you can visit the Chateau d'Amboise and Chateau de Clos Lucé , once home to Leonardo da Vinci. See also Loire Valley castles for more information.

Visit Tours, the gateway city of the Loire Valley
Home › Discover › Tours and the finest cities in Touraine › Visit Tours, the gateway city of the Loire Valley
Beautiful, vibrant and lively, Tours is a pretty stopping point during a couple of days in the middle of the Loire Valley Chateaux . Tour its historic quarters with their half-timbered houses, the bustling Place Plumereau and Saint-Gatien Cathedral, as well as the new Olivier Debré Contemporary Art Centre.
On sunny days, the star of Tours is the River Loire! The now famous ‘Tours-sur-Loire’ guinguette and the Tours beach extend the city limits to the banks of the river. Numerous activities are offered.
Tours is packed with gourmet bistros featuring fresh, locally sourced produce on their menus. You should taste the nougat of Tours , the potted rillettes of Tours, the saffron , or the "poires tapées" (dried pears). Genuinely unique!
Tours – A tale of two cities
In a perfect location, Tours is the great capital of the Loire Valley, a Unesco world heritage site, but it is far more than just a gateway to the Loire Chateaux. Indeed, Tours delights in being charming and doesn’t think twice about playing a double game in order to do so.
Visit Tours and its architecture full of history
First of all, there is its historical heritage. The birthplace of Balzac (more than fifty books to read) is proud of its old quarters , which take visitors on a wonderful journey back in time in France. Explore the narrow cobbled streets, half-timbered french houses and the stone façade of the monumental Saint-Gatien Cathedral , which give the city a charming medieval air.
The architecture of the Fine Arts Museum , the Hotel Gouïn (Renaissance architecture), Tours castle , the ‘la Psalette’ cloister and the Saint Martin Basilica (near the “tour Charlemagne” and the “tour de l’horloge”) is of great interest! You will enjoy those monuments through a illuminated walking experience , and of course with a guided tour proposed by the tourist office.

Tours, a beautiful city in France
In addition to the built heritage, large green spaces perfectly enhance the french city. Designed in the 19th century and classified as a remarkable garden, the Prebendes d’Oe garden is a perfect example, as is the botanic garden and the Gloriette park . Attached to the latter, the practice of La Gloriette Golf may allow you to make your first swing!
You have a few days ahead of you? Renting a bike , you will cycle from Tours to :
- the St Cosme priory (4km / 14 min),
- the Montbazon fortress (15km / 56 min),
- Vouvray wineries ( Château Gaudrelle , Vigneau-Chevreau …).
- the gardens of Villandry (19km / 1h03),
- the Valmer gardens (19km / 1h06).
The gardens of Villandry castle. France
It is also very pleasant to go shopping, to have a look at the exhibitions at the new Olivier Debré Contemporary Creation Centre and at the Arts district , to relax at the summer ‘guinguette’, situated along the banks of the Loire River from which you can see the traditional boats (belonging to the Boutavant association ). You may also like to go on board for a fifty minute cruise on the river !

For night owls , a stopover in Tours also gives them an opportunity to treat themselves to a show, an evening in one of the many bars and cafés in the Old Town or a front seat at the free sound and light show projected onto the Fine Art Museum façade every evening in the summer.

Five-Star Rating on TripAdvisor!
Highly recommend the Salt Lake City Tour w/ Tabernacle Organ Performance. The tour guide was very knowledgeable and provided a great history of the city as well as points of interest along the tour. The Tabernacle Organ recital was spectacular. Thanks to the tour guide for a great experience for two first time visitors to Salt Lake City!
I did all 3 tours..The 5 hour City tour on a Sunday, so saw the Tabernacle choir..a must! I also did the Copper mine and the Great Salt Lake tour. The weather was poor for the copper canyon tour, but it was lovely by the afternoon for the Lake tour! All the buses arrived on time and all 3 drivers drove with care and were really informative!
There is a lot to see during this tour, the highlight being the choir performance - visually and musically beautiful. With so much to see, our guide was a key component to making the tour the fun time it was. He was very knowledgeable and did a great job. You could tell he loved talking about his city and its heritage.
Our guide and bus driver was an excellent people person. Gave us all an indepth talk on history of Salt Lake City whilst showing travellers all of the city's attractions. He got to know where we all came from ,made us feel at ease and offered great loal advice. Overall a very enjoyable 3.5 hr tour.

5 city walking tours you can take right now on Google Maps
May 4, 2020 • 10 min read
Lonely Planet has created five walking tours for Google Maps ©Shutterstock
It’s undeniably one of travel’s greatest pleasures; wandering the streets of a whole new city, soaking up its character and exploring its hidden wonders on foot. When the pavement-pounding wanderlust cannot be satisfied in reality however, we’ve come up with the next best thing. Below are five of our Lonely Planet city walking routes, specially formatted so that you can enjoy them online. Simply load up Google Maps, switch to Street View, and start your virtual adventure…
Map view : This is the default view of Google Maps. Street view : To activate Street View, grab and drag the orange figure icon in the bottom right hand corner of the screen, and release when it is hovering over your desired map point. From here you will be able to move along streets by moving the cursor and clicking in the direction you wish to travel. Photo sphere : These are indicated by small blue dots that appear when you have clicked the orange figure icon. Drag and release onto the dots to get a 360° on-the-ground view of your surroundings.
Havana, Cuba: Old Havana Walking Tour
This walking tour highlights Havana’s unique historical district, built up around four main squares. Start by dropping onto La Catedral de la Virgen María de la Concepción Inmaculada de La Habana , which anchors the Plaza de la Catedral , a complex square with bags of atmosphere and always awash with interesting characters (or, in this case, static images of them). Drop onto a photo sphere on the cathedral to look inside, return to map view and drop again onto the Plaza de la Catedral to explore.
Return to map view, and then drop onto one of the photo spheres on Plaza de Armas , once used for military exercises. The plaza is still guarded by the Castillo de la Real Fuerza , a beautiful 16th century star-shaped fort. Drop onto the castillo’s photo spheres to take a look around its perimeter. If you turn east, you’ll also be treated to a great view across Havana Port.
Just south of the castillo is Palacio de los Capitanes Generales , the former official residence of the city’s governors. Return to map view and drop onto one of the palacio’s photo spheres to take in the building, which is also home to the Museum of the City of Havana . Next, return to map view and drop onto a photo sphere along Calle Obispo , one of the city’s most bustling and lively streets. This is a great street to wander up and down. After returning to map view, drop onto the cluster of photo spheres on Plaza de San Francisco de Asis , a breezy open space watched over by the Iglesia y Monasterio de San Francisco de Asis . Finish your tour by dropping down at the photo sphere just north of the Terminal Sierra Maestra , and gazing out across the port.

Split, Croatia: Split’s Old Town Walking Tour
Start this virtual tour through Split’s fascinating Old Town by dropping onto the photo sphere at the foot of the Bell Tower and Chapel of the Holy Arnir , once part of St Euphemia’s Church, containing an altar slab and sarcophagus carved by the early renaissance master Juraj Dalmatinac. Using street view, head southeast along Ul. Kralja Tomislava, until you reach the imposing statue of Grgur Ninski , whose toe is said to bring good luck when rubbed (clicked). Return to map view and drop onto the statue’s photo sphere to check it out. Using street view, head south from the statue to the Golden Gate , the grandest portal of Diocletian’s Palace , an ancient palace built for Roman Emperor Diocletian.
Return to map view, and continue south along the palace’s main, bustling street, Dioklecijanova , using street view. At the end, return to map view and drop onto the photo sphere at peristil , the ceremonial court at the approach to the imperial apartments. Spend a second taking in your surroundings. Return to map view, and drop again onto one of the photo spheres next to the imposing St Domnius Cathedral . Return to map view and drop down onto the Ul. Andrije Alješija . Spend a bit of time exploring this area of medieval buildings and narrow alleyways using street view.
Return to map view and drop down somewhere along Narodni Trg , which has been Split’s main civic square since medieval times. Take some time using street view and its many photo spheres to explore. Although the square was once lined with Venetian Gothic buildings, only one remains, the 15th century Stara Gradska Vijećnica (Old Town Hall). Conclude your virtual tour by dropping onto the hall’s photo sphere and checking it out.
Melbourne, Australia: Arcades and Laneways Walking Tour
Central Melbourne is a warren of 19th-century arcades and gritty-turned-hip cobbled blue- stone laneways featuring street art, basement restaurants, boutiques and bars. Start your tour by dropping onto street view at Degraves Place , an archetypal Melbourne lane lined with interesting shops, cafes and street art. Head north from Degraves Place to Flinders Lane, return to map view and explore the nearby Centre Place , a bustling hub of cafes and bars, using its photo spheres. Return to map and drop back onto Flinders Lane, head west, and then make a right hand turn onto Elizabeth Street. Continue north until you reach the Block Arcade . Built in 1892 and featuring ornate plasterwork and mosaic floors, it’s based on Milan’s Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II arcade. Return to map view and drop onto one of the arcades photo spheres to take a look.
Return to Elizabeth Street using street view, and navigate north, turning right at Little Collins Street. Navigating east along the street you’ll find the wonderfully ornate Royal Arcade on your left. Return to map view, and drop down onto the arcades photo sphere to look around. Return to Little Collins Street on street view, and continue east until you find a turning on your left to Union Lane Graffiti . Spend some time on its photo spheres to soak in the urban art. Return to Little Collins Street again on street view, continue east, and turn right onto Swanston Street. Move south, until you reach Melbourne Town Hall on your left. Drop onto a photo sphere in front of the hall and admire its impressive facade.
Return to map view, and drop onto Collins Street next to the town hall. Continue east along the street, and then turn right onto Russell Street. Continue south, and then turn left onto Flinders Lane. Continue east along the lane, and you’ll reach Duckboard Place on your right. Wander around using street view, taking in the plentiful urban art. Return to map view, and drop down to end the tour on Hosier Lane ’s photo sphere, one of the city’s most epically decorated alleyways.
Rio de Janeiro, Brazil: Rio Walking Tour
A mélange of historic buildings and skyscrapers, the center of Rio is an intriguing place to discover the essence of the city away from its beaches and mountains. Begin by dropping down onto a street view of the Praça Floriano , a scenic plaza set with several outdoor cafes. Navigate around at street level and take in the views. Proceed north along the Praça Floriano , until you reach the Municipal Theater of Rio de Janeiro , one of the city’s finest buildings, particularly after its $20 million renovation in 2009. Return to map view and drop onto a photo sphere facing the theatre to take in its grandeur.
Return to map view, and drop down onto street view of Largo de Carioca , a bustling area with a small market. Wander around using street view. Facing north, you will be able to see the Igreja São Francisco da Penitência , a 17th‐century church with a jaw‐dropping gilded interior perched up on a hill. Return to map view, and drop onto Rua de Carioca. Navigate west along the road, until you reach a right hand turn onto Praça Tiradentes. Continue north on Av Passos, turning right onto R. Luis de Camores. Along this road on the left you’ll find the Real Gabinete Português de Leitura (Royal Portuguese Reading Room), a historic reading room reminiscent of 19th century Portugal. Return to map view, and drop onto one of its photo spheres to explore the book-lined interior.
Return to map view, and drop down onto street view by Paço Imperial , once the seat of the Portuguese rulers in Brazil, the building today houses intriguing art exhibitions as well as several cafes. Spend some time exploring using street view. Navigate onto R. Primeiro de Marco, and work your way northwest, until you reach a righthand turn to Largo do Paço. Navigate east until you reach the Arco do Teles . Go through it, and you’ll finish your tour on Travessa do Comercio , one of the centro’s oldest and most charming lanes.
Bangkok, Thailand: Old Bangkok Walking Tour
The bulk of Bangkok ’s ‘must-see’ destinations are in and around the former royal district, Ko Ratanakosin . Start your virtual tour by dropping onto one of the many photo spheres at the Temple of the Emerald Buddha: Wat Phra Si Rattana Satsadaram / Wat Phra Kaew , a vast, fairytale compound that is one of Bangkok’s biggest tourist attractions and a pilgrimage destination for Bhuddists. Have a look around you using the multiple photo spheres on the site. Once you’re done, jump to the Grand Palace , the former resident of the Thai monarch (which is right next door), and do the same.
Return to map view and then drop again at Maha Rat Road. Navigate north until you reach Soi Tha Wang, enjoying the surroundings as you go. Return to map view, and drop down onto the photo sphere spot on Soi Tha Wang, a narrow alleyway holding a hidden classic Bangkok neighbourhood. Return to map view and drop back onto Maha Rat Road. Head north, and find the amulet market on your left, a frenetic handicraft market selling Bhuddist amulets and good luck charms. Return to map view.
Drop again onto Phra Chan Alley, and head east until you reach the gates of Sanam Luang , the ‘Royal Field’, which is an open public square on the edge of Wat Phra Kaew. Return to map view and drop onto the photo sphere on Sanam Luang for a different perspective of the temple. Return to map view and drop again onto Ratchadamnoen Nai Road.
Continue north until you reach the Royal Hotel. Follow the road’s curve east onto Ratchadamnoen Klang Road , considered the Champs Elysees of Bangkok. Continue along it until you reach the 14 October 73 Memorial , commemorating the civilian demonstrators who were killed on 14 October 1973 by the military during a pro-democracy rally. Drop onto a photo sphere to look around. Continue in the same direction and you’ll reach the Democracy Monument on a roundabout, erected in 1932.
Return to map view and drop onto Dinso Road. Continue south and follow the road curve west onto Bamrung Mueang Road. Follow the road until you reach a left hand turn onto Atsadang Road. Continue until you reach a right hand turn to Charoen Krung Road, and head west, stopping to check out Saranrom Palace Park on your right as you go. Return to map view and drop onto any of the park’s photo spheres to look around. Return to map view and drop onto the photo spheres on the tour’s final stop Wat Phra Chetuphon , home of the giant reclining Buddha.

Breaking news, metallica announces 2025 ‘m72 tour’ with limp bizkit. get tickets now.
Metallica is leaving no stone unturned on their ‘M72 Tour.’
Originally announced in November 2022 (!), the Rock Hall of Famers just added a third years’ worth of shows to their ongoing trek in support of their latest record, “72 Seasons.”
This time around, James Hetfield, Kirk Hammett and co. are putting on six “no repeat weekends” — either Thursday and Saturday or Friday and Sunday shows with different set lists and opening acts — and six “one night only” concerts.
The closest “no repeat weekend” to New York will take place at Philadelphia’s Lincoln Financial Field on Friday, May 23 with Limp Bizkit and Ice Nine Kills. On Sunday, May 25 , the show will feature Pantera and Suicidal Tendencies.
A month before that, the “Enter Sandman ” rockers have a “one night only” gig lined up at Syracuse’s JMA Wireless Dome on Saturday, April 19. Pantera and Suicidal Tendencies will serve as the special guest that evening.
According to Consequence , “these one-off concerts promise the tour’s full production and massive in-the-round stage setup.”
In August 2023, the New York Post’s resident metalhead Ryan Murphy attended a pair of ‘M72’ concerts at MetLife Stadium and said “Metallica played everything you’d want to hear with no repeats over the two nights.”
“Even though they’re promoting their new record,” he continued, “they played all the fan favorites.”
Fans can purchase tickets for all upcoming ‘M72’ shows on sites like Vivid Seats; the official on-sale for the 2025 concerts is Friday, Sept. 27.
Vivid Seats is a secondary market ticketing platform, and prices may be higher or lower than face value, depending on demand.
They have a 100% buyer guarantee that states your transaction will be safe and secure and will be delivered before the event.
Metallica 2024-25 tour schedule
Metallica 2025 festival appearances.
As you may have noticed, Metallica is headlining a pair of festivals next year.
Here’s what we know about each as of now:
Metallica set list
The last time Metallica played in the U.S. was when they headlined back-to-back gigs at Seattle’s Lumen Field on Aug. 30 and Sept. 1.
Although we can’t guarantee what Hetfield and Hammett will play on tour next year, here’s what the band performed on night one and night two back then, according to Set List FM.
Metallica concert review
Not sure what to expect when you see Hetfield, Hammett and co. live?
We suggest you sneak a peek at the NY Post’s review of Metallica’s two ‘M72’ concerts at MetLife Stadium right here .
Metallica opening acts
Been forever since you listened to Limp Bizkit or Suicidal Tendencies?
As a quick refresher, here is each opening act’s most-streamed song on Spotify:
Limp Bizkit: “Break Stuff”
Ice Nine Kills: “A Grave Mistake”
Pantera: “Walk”
Suicidal Tendencies: “Institutionalized”
Huge hard rock tours in 2024-25
Although no tour will rock quite as hard as Metallica’s, many of the biggest names in metal will be on the road these next few months.
Here are just five tours that will turn the volume up all the way up to 11 in the near future.
• Deftones
• Iron Maiden
• Judas Priest
• Sessanta featuring A Perfect Circle, Primus and Puscifer
Who else is on the road? Take a look at our list of the 50 biggest concert tours in 2024 to find out.

Open studio tours coming to multiple Oregon cities this fall

- Samantha Swindler | The Oregonian/OregonLive
That crisp fall weather means it’s time for artists to open their doors and invite guests to shop their work. Open studio tours are coming up in Portland, Lake Oswego, Washington County, Sisters, Florence and Philomath.
And a new tour is on the map this year: the inaugural Oregon City Open Studios Tour will feature 25 artists and makers across 16 home and studio locations. Potters, painters, fiber artists, jewelry makers, metal fabricators and glass workers will share their work with the public from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 5-6.
Visitors who stop by at least 10 locations can enter to win a $100 gift certificate to their favorite artist’s studio.
“It’s such a beautiful scenic drive, too,” said tour organizer Becky Dawson, “because you get everything from the cute little Historic Main Street experience to being out in the woods.”
Dawson’s One Lane Road studio, located behind a plumber’s shop in Oregon City, is among the locations on the free, self-guided tour. Two other artists – mixed-media artist Rhoda Bohr and painter Quire – can be found on the second floor of Oregon City’s historic First Baptist Church.
“There’s people that have these big, huge shops on their home properties, and people that just have a shed in their backyard that they converted,” Dawson said. “I think it’s inspiring for other creatives to visit and get an idea of all the different ways to have an art studio.”
All artists on the tour are members of the Three Rivers Artist Guild , a networking and support group for artists in Oregon City and surrounding areas that is organizing the event. Membership is $40 a year, and the group meets monthly at the Pioneer Community Center.
“The art scene in Oregon City, in the last few years, there’s been a lot of new energy put into it,” Dawson said. “I think people are getting tuned into Oregon City as this cool place that’s got a funky, artsy, vibe.”
Open studio tours give patrons a chance to see where artists create in spaces not normally open to the public. Over the next two months, at least nine tours will be held across Oregon and southwest Washington. All tours are free, self-guided events unless otherwise noted.
Elements of Art Studio Tour in Florence
Sept. 21-22, noon-4 p.m.
The first weekend of Florence’s open studios tour has passed, but you can still visit 25 artist studios in Florence, Gardiner and Crestwell. Visitors are asked to purchase a tour passport for $15-25, which includes a program, event swag and a chance to win prizes and art. Tickets and more information at elementsofartstudiotour.com .
Sisters Open Studios tour
Sept. 21-22, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Sisters’ tour features 18 artists at a dozen studios and hosting galleries. Find a map at sistersartsassociation.org/artist-studio-tour .
Lake Oswego Open Studios Tour
Sept. 28-29, 10 a.m.-5 p.m.
More than 70 artists are participating in 40 locations across Lake Oswego and West Linn. Find a map and more information at lakeoswegoopenstudios.org .

Oct. 5-6, 10 a.m.-4 p.m.
Featuring 25 artists across 16 locations. Find a map and list of artists at threeriversartistguild.com/events/oregon-city-open-studios .
Portland Open Studios Tour

Premier League Champions Manchester City Arrive In India For Champions 4-in-a-row Trophy Tour
To celebrate this historic achievement, manchester city have brought the premier league trophy to new delhi, alongside the club world cup and community shield trophies..
Manchester City, who re-wrote the history books by winning the English Premier League four times in a row in 2023-24, have arrived in Indian capital city as part of the club's Champions 4-in-a-row Trophy Tour. To celebrate this historic achievement, Manchester City have brought the Premier League trophy to New Delhi, alongside the Club World Cup and Community Shield trophies. The trophies will be accompanied alongside former Manchester City and England winger Shaun Wright-Phillips across a range of activities for Cityzens in India, including a fan event on September 22, where fans are invited to watch Manchester City take on Arsenal FC at Vegas Mall.
Speaking on the visit as a whole, Club Legend Wright-Phillips said, "We're really looking forward to visiting India as part of the Club's Champions 4-in-a-row tour. The club were fortunate enough to visit last year and we're excited to interact with our fan base in India again, as we bring the Premier League, Club World Cup and Community Shield Trophies around the world."
Commenting on the fixture against Arsenal FC, he added, "Our latest visit also coincides with our important Premier League fixture against Arsenal which fans can watch at a special fan event and screening on the Sunday."
After a memorable 2023/24 season, the Cityzens are keen to build on that success, with the likes of Kevin de Bruyne and Erling Haaland leading the line.
Ahead of the game against Arsenal, the defending champions stand at the top of the Premier League table with 12 points and four wins from as many games.
As part of the Champions-4-in-A-Row Trophy Tour, Manchester City will also be providing a free coaching course to upskill the local community and grassroots coaches to promote healthier lives through football. This is part of Manchester City's commitment to upskilling over 150 community coaches to leave a lasting impact in five cities.

The largest professional women's sporting event in Cincinnati tees off Thursday.
The Queen City Championship is back and in a new home .
Tens of thousands of fans are expected to come see the world's best female golfers. Part of this year's field is world No. 1 Nelly Korda, Olympic gold medalist Lydia Ko and fan favorite Lexi Thompson.
2024 marks the third time Cincinnati has hosted the tournament, with the last two years having taken place at the Kenwood Country Club. This year, the competition has moved to TPC River's Bend, in Maineville.
The course was built to hold tournaments just like this.
Organizers say it's amazing to watch female athletes be front and center in the Queen City.
"It is a big deal. You just don't see it very often," said Michelle Lipka, general manager of TPC River's Bend. "And what I think is really special about the LPGA and the female golfer is they play from a yardage that a lot of golfers play from, not as compared to maybe the PGA Tour, that they play these lengths that we can't even imagine."
As for the future of the tournament, Kroger and P&G - two of the event's biggest sponsors - are extending their contracts for two more years. Organizers say the hope is to keep it in Cincinnati for much longer.
