Do you know the status of your UAE Visit Visa? It is important to know when your UAE Visit visa will expire and its validity. In addition, it is important to know how you check the UAE Visit Visa application status.

The government of the United Arab Emirates has made it easy to check UAE Visit Visa Validity through the UAE government website. After entering your details, it is a one-stop place where you check all about the UAE Visit Visa.

Therefore, if you want to check your UAE visit visa validity, visit the  Federal Authority for Identity & Citizenship, Customs & Port Security website.

Whether you are in UAE on a residence or visit visa, don't forget to check your visa status and if you need to update the visa before its expiry.

If you fail to check your visa status and it expires while in UAE, you will be required to pay fines and penalties for overstaying. You can avoid all this by visiting the website mentioned above and updating your visa because the UAE government offers a grace period after the visa expires to set things straight.

UAE Government Types of Visit Visas

There are two types of UAE visit visas;

• Single Entry:  For single entry visas, you can choose between 1 month and 3 months, with 30 + 10 days or 60 + 10 grace period days beginning on the date of entry to UAE.
• Multiple Entries:  Multiple entry visit visa allowed is valid for 30 or 60 days, and you can leave the country and enter again using the same visa, provided it is still valid. There is no grace period, and you will get fines for overstaying if your visa expires. Hence, it is important to check the status of your visa and note the expiry date.

If you have noticed your UAE visit visa is about to expire, worry not because you can  extend your UAE visit visa . The process of extending the visa is hassle-free by even visiting the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs, and Port Security (ICA) website.

Visitors can now enjoy a 30-day visa extension twice (for a total of 60 days), thanks to the most recent reforms passed by the UAE visa system. That means that tourists do not need to leave the country at any point throughout their stay.

The whole process of extending the visit visa will be done while in UAE. You must pay an additional AED 600 for each new extension

If your visit visa expires as a tourist, note you have 10 days grace period to extend your visa or leave the country. After the 10 days are over, you will get fins for overstaying, and each day you will be required to pay 125.00 AED first day and each consecutive day AED 100.

Exception for UAE Visit Visa Extension

There are certain categories of visitors who, even though they are required to have a UAE visit visa while entering the country, are not obliged by the law to extend their visit visa even though it expires. These categories of people are;

• residents of GCC countries
• special entry permits
• 96-hour permit for special missions

All who overstay their visas are subject to fines in the United Arab Emirates. The government of the UAE recognizes that individuals may sometimes have legitimate reasons for overstaying their visas. Therefore rather than blacklisting them and making matters more complicated, they have decided not to do so.

They also acknowledge that these individuals were previously granted permission to reside in the country legally. There is no reason to criminalize or treat them if they have no history of known provocative behavior or criminal activity.

The government of the UAE recognizes and respects the fact that you have a deep affection for their nation and feel the need to remain there for a longer period. So, go ahead and stay. Just so you're aware, you committed some infringement, and as a result, you'll have to pay for it.

Before leaving, all that is required of you is to pay the costs automatically computed for you depending on the number of days you overstayed. After the expiration of the visit visa, everyone is given a grace period of ten extra days.

You are required to leave the state before the 10th day after the visa has expired, or else you will be subject to a penalty of 125.00 AED for the first day and then 100 AED for each day afterward.

If you have overstayed and want to know how much you have been fined, you can visit the  General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs in Dubai (GDRFA-Dubai) . We strongly advise that you don't overstay your visit. However, if you do, make the most of it and don't break the law.

A visit visa to the UAE can be procured for either 30 or 60 days and converted into either an employment visa or a residency visa.

In the event of a visit to the United Arab Emirates (UAE), in addition to the payment for the visa itself, a deposit from a local sponsor, relative, or any resident is also necessary. This deposit will be repaid when the tourist has successfully exited the country.

When it comes to employment visas, the decision rests with your company. Within two to five working days after signing the offer letter, your company needs to submit your details, including a copy of your passport, to apply for a residency visa and an Emirates ID on your behalf.

Once this is done, your organization will receive an application form (finished with barcodes and everything), which you will use for a medical fitness exam once it is made available. If your organization chooses to pay for the "VIP" application, the test should be ready within twenty-four hours, but if it is standard, it should be ready between three and five days.

The government of the UAE is continuously making investments in automated systems, and the process is getting better every day. If you pass the physical exam, the results are forwarded to the immigration department responsible for processing your resident visa.

UAE visa on arrival

Preapproved uae visas, prearranged uae visas, sponsoring someone to visit the uae, contact information, 30-day visit eligibility.

If you are a passport holder of the below country or territory, no advance visa arrangements are required to visit the UAE. Simply disembark your flight at Dubai International and proceed to immigration, where your passport will be stamped with a 30-day visit visa free of charge.

90-day visit eligibility

If you are a passport holder of one of the below countries or territories, your passport will be stamped with a multiple entry 90-day visit visa that's valid for 6 months from the date of issue, and for a stay of 90 days in total. Citizens of the below European countries are also entitled to apply for a pre-arranged visit visa if their 90-day visa on arrival has been fully utilized.

180-day visit eligibility

If you hold a Mexican passport you’re eligible for a multiple entry 180-day visit visa that's valid for 6 months from the date of issue, and for a stay of 180 days in total.

Dubai immigration procedures

As an added security measure, Immigration Authorities at Dubai International are now conducting random eye screening for visitors to Dubai.

Visitors asked to proceed for eye screening are required to present a hard copy of their visa or a printed version of the visa number confirmation page at the screening counter. If you do not have a copy with you, a charge of AED 30 per copy applies - payable only in AED.

Important information

Before you travel to the UAE, please check your visa requirements and make sure you have a valid visa if needed, or if your passport needs to be valid for 6 months. Holders of non-standard passports and travel documents may also have different entry requirements: find out if you need to apply for a visa and other passport requirements.

As of 29 April 2016, GCC residence permit holders will need to apply for a UAE visa before arriving in Dubai.

New visit entry permit to the UAE for Indian nationals

From 7 January 2024, eligible Indian nationals with a normal passport valid for a minimum of six months can obtain a single entry, 14-day visa on arrival. A fee of USD 63 applies.

• Indian passport holder with USA visa valid for a minimum of six months
• Indian passport holder with USA green card valid for a minimum of six months
• Indian passport holder with UK residence card valid for a minimum of six months
• Indian passport holder with EU residence card from the following countries valid for a minimum of six months

How and where to apply for a pre-approved UAE visa

Eligible Indian nationals can apply for their UAE entry permit on emirates.com through Manage your booking .

• For Extension, Original passport and ticket copy required.
• Extensions can be made at the airport office only.

Required applicant documents.

• Colour photograph of applicant
• Colour copy of applicant's passport. The passport must be valid for at least six months
• You can download the application form (available at all Emirates Ticketing Offices) in  Arabic (Opens a PDF in a new tab)  or English (Opens a PDF in a new tab)  depending on the applicant’s nationality.
• A copy of your Emirates Airline ticket, or codeshare flight that starts with the code “EK”, and the ticket number should start with “176”.
• Proof of relationship if applying for family member - birth certificate, marriage certificate and family book
• All Documents to be submitted as hard copy
• Additional documents may be required by the authorities.

Rules and conditions

• Sponsor or applicant will be responsible for a visitor overstay and overstay fines.
• A Refundable deposit of AED 1000 for friend. Sponsor must claim the deposit within a maximum of 2 years from the application submission date.
• Refund of visa fee before processing of an application, AED 50 will be deducted on refund process.
• Visa fees must be paid upon application.
• Additional visa processing fees may apply.
• Visa fees are non-refundable.
• The ticket is non-refundable if the visa has been issued and utilized.
• Visa processing time is approximately 3 to 4 working days.
• Entry into the UAE is subject to immigration approval.
• All visas are valid to enter Dubai for 60 days from the date of issue, except the 96-hour and 48-hour visas, which are valid for 30 days from the date of issue.

How and where to apply for your prearranged UAE visa

• Apply online through Manage your booking
• 48-hour and 96-hour transit visas are valid for travel with Emirates tickets outbound from Dubai. You can only apply for a transit visa online or at the Emirates Commercial Visa APT office at Dubai International airport Terminal 3.

Nationals of countries requiring a prearranged UAE visa can now apply and pay for their visas online through emirates.com.

If you are travelling to or stopping over in Dubai with Emirates, you can submit an application and receive your UAE visa entirely online – without having to submit your passport for stamping. You can apply for your UAE visa through our Manage your booking after you book your Emirates flight. VFS processing fees apply. For more information please visit VFS Global.

The online visa application service is available for residents and nationals of many countries around the world. Find out if you can apply for a UAE visa. Applicants' passports must have at least six months' validity as of their date of travel to Dubai, and must be machine readable passports – handwritten passports are not accepted.

This service is only available to passengers with a confirmed Emirates booking where an Emirates ticket has already been issued and the flight itinerary already includes the desired time in Dubai. The itinerary into and out of Dubai should be on one ticket (PNR), and these flights must be Emirates flights. Note that any itineraries including any flights to or from Dubai on other carriers are not eligible for the online visa service.

A minimum of four international working days prior to arrival in Dubai is required, however Emirates does recommend that online applications are made as early as possible.

• Download the GDRFA Dubai mobile app on your smartphone.
• Under the Services tab, select “File Status Inquiry.”
• Click on “Residence Inquiry.”
• Enter the information about your visa. The Code is 201, the year when it was issued, and the serial number is on your visa page.
• Provide your first name, nationality, and date of birth, and click on the “inquiry” button.

If everything was correct, you will see a green check with the word “issued”, and below are the details of your visa. You can see the expiry date and check how much time you can stay in the country.

6. How to carry out the UAE visa check after visa cancellation?

Once you have gone through the visa cancellation process in the UAE , you must also know how to check visa status in UAE.

This is because once you cancel your visa, you can stay in the UAE for a period legally, which is known as the grace period. Nevertheless, you have to be careful with the grace period after visa cancellation . If your grace period expires and you are still in the UAE, you will have to pay overstaying fines .

If you hold any type of UAE visa, you can always change it to a residency visa. However, you must meet the conditions to transfer it. Moreover, you have to pay a fee of AED 550, and you have to do the process before the expiry of your current visa.

People living in the UAE no longer require a residency visa page on their passport, but there is still an easy way to keep track of your status.

The visa stickers were replaced by a "new generation" of enhanced Emirates IDs in 2022 as part of a drive to streamline services.

But the permit can still be downloaded using the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security (ICP) website or UAEICP app.

Residents can use Emirates ID s and passports to get through immigration, with airlines equipped to check validities of residencies using passport numbers and Emirates IDs.

New residency visa applicants also don't need to file separate forms for IDs and visa stamps. You can also track the application status online using your passport number.

The UAE visa will have your file number, unique ID, sponsor name, profession and expiry details . These will be necessary if you want to check the validity of your visa online or apply for services on the ICP channels.

How to download the UAE visa on your phone

The visa page itself is available in a digital form on the official ICP Smart Service app which you can access any time with an active internet connection or download for offline use.

– Download the ICP Smart Services app UAEICP

– Login using your UAE Pass or create an account

– On the bottom menu, click on ‘Cards’ and you’ll see a wallet with your UAE visa page and Emirates ID

– Download the required document as a PDF and save it on your mobile device

– If you have sponsored dependants, their documents will be automatically available to download.

Similarly, you can download the digital visa through the ICP website after logging in using your registered email address or UAE Pass.

How to obtain a stamped UAE visa document

Residents can get a printed and stamped version of their UAE residence visa which may be a requirement for certain services.

– On the ICP Smart Services website, click on ‘Public Services’ on the top menu bar and then on ‘Reports’ on the next dashboard.

– Choose the ‘Other Services – Reports – Residence Details – Print’ option and click on ‘Start Service’

– Enter one of – visa file number, unified number or identity number. The first two are on your visa page while the third is your Emirates ID number.

– Pay the fees of Dh250. The service card has an itemised breakdown of the fees (available on the top right of the service page)

– The service will be completed in two working days, according to the official website.

The same service can be availed through customer happiness centres. You can get the location details of the nearest customer happiness centre through the mobile app.
