Man killed in M32 collision
This from Avon and Somerset Police
We’re appealing for witnesses and dashcam footage following the death of a man in a collision on the M32 today, Thursday 22 August. Four cars and a van were involved in the collision at the exit slip road at junction one for Hambrook, just before 10am. Sadly the driver of one of the vehicles died at the scene. We have contacted their next of kin who will be supported by a specially-trained family liaison officer. A woman who was a passenger in one of the vehicles went to hospital with injuries not currently believed to be life-threatening. Her family are also aware. A man who was the driver of another vehicle went to hospital for treatment and was due to be discharged today. Four other people went home after being examined by medics at the scene. By about 2.15pm the vehicles were recovered and highways staff are now carrying repairs and resurfacing works. We’d like to hear from anyone who saw what happened or who has dashcam or other footage of the incident.

The M32 motorway is an urban motorway built in the 1970s in Bristol, England, and is a vital link between the city centre and the M4 and M5 motorways. It forms part of a complete bypass of inner Bristol, providing access to areas such as Filton, Lockleaze, Easton and Bishopston.
Since its opening, the M32 motorway has been known for its steep gradients at either end which have caused congestion and accidents. However, road safety measures have been implemented in recent years, resulting in significant reductions in the crash rate in recent years. According to the government safety report for 2018, there were only 14 injuries in the whole of that year, with the only fatalities occurring in 2017.
Overall, the M32 motorway is considered to be a safe motorway, with significant improvements in the crash rate in recent years. It continues to be a vital transportation link for commuters and city visitors in the Bristol area.
